Yes, that photo was taken at the April 1990 Walden benefit. I think he's had three surgeries.

That wasn't too long after he had intestinal surgery so I think that explains the thinness.

At Royal Oak in 2000 he says he's '0-2 with intestinal surgery'. Yet in 1992 on the Strange Weather EPK he says he didn't tour the Soul Searchin' album because he 'got sick'. I saw him in August 1988. He did Wiseguy in 1989 and the Walden thing was in April 1990. Who knows what happened?

That makes me wonder - just how many surgeries did Glenn have? I know he was in the hospital for divirticulitis in 1986 - I assumed he had surgery then, but was it actually later? Or both? Of course we all know about the one in 1994.

You're probably right, soda. Surgery is the last resort. Most of the time diverticulitis is treated with antibiotic therapy.

How close together were the surgeries? Often when a piece of intestine is removed, a colostomy is required. After the intestine is well healed a second surgery is done to "take down" the colostomy and put the two ends of the intestine back together. 1 bout of diverticulitis but 2 surgeries.

I think I've got it figured out. He may not have had surgery in 1986 although he went to the hospital. I went back and looked at this quote from a 1988 article:


"I got sick. I was supposed to do a benefit concert with Henley, and I ended up in the hospital with diverticulitis."


He never says he got operated on, just that he was sick and in the hospital. So perhaps that explains it!

I'm happy with the Dublin look; if it has to be short, it's ok 'en brosse' - it would feel very nice, like velvet. I'd prefer F1 or this summer's PTO tour look just a little longer, so that it falls forward, rather than swept back.
