A year ago (my time) some of us were getting ready for this:

Yes, I post the second photo a lot. I'm proud of it because it was very difficult to take a photo at all. The experience, both nights, was one of the most extraordinary I have ever had, and left me hungry for more. I got my wish earlier this year, and perhaps I will get my wish again next year. Hearing him sing those songs (and watching him without a guitar) was incredible.

Also it was wonderful to finally meet some Borderers - Soda, GA, Dreamer, PLS, GL & hubby, HH & hubby, TF & her father when I was in Toronto. It was just wonderful.

I may as well post one of the photos from the second night too. That was the closest to Glenn I have ever been.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/ozeagle/Solo%20Years/Fallsview4.jpg

If I only had a photo of 'my moment' when he pointed at me as he sang 'if you ever plan to motor west' during Route 66 on the second night. Later on he smiled at me & I framed his face in a heart made of my fingers. I don't know what he thought. :inlove:

Thanks for the memories, Julie. I was just heading over to this thread to post something when I saw you had just posted. We must have been reading each other's minds. This was the day before the first show, but, as you said, it was the first time some of us met for the first time. What a wonderful few days that trip was thanks to Mr. Frey and our fellow Borderers!!!

I should point out that today is August 23 for me, which is why I said 'a year ago (my time)'. Sometimes I wait until the following day in order to be in line with everyone else, but today I didn't want to wait.

Maybe I'll have to stop reading this thread for the next couple of days! I'm getting angry at my old boss all over again for not letting me take any time off or even work a shifted work-week. So my memories are of being in a pout and of course, watching my trees vibrate and the earth literally wave, and hear things falling off the walls. Yes, today's also the one year anniversary of the big quake here in the east! I still haven't repaired the drywall in the garage...

That's right, VA - the earthquake happened when I was in Niagara Falls, so, fortunately for me, I missed most of the excitement. Although there were some folks even there that said they felt tremors. I remember when I returned home, my computer monitor was lying in the floor and my printer was leaning off the stand but didn't fall. Thankfully, neither were damaged. The only other visible effect that I found was that it also cracked the drywall next to my fireplace. I was having such a good time on the trip that I didn't even think much about any damages. I just figured I'd deal with any problems when I got home.

In some ways it seems like it was just yesterday that we were braving the "hill from hell" to get back from the Falls to the hotel to meet up before the show. I'd only been on the board for a few months but was very happy to meet everyone "in the flesh", put some faces to the names, and spend some time with new friends.

It was the first time I had seen Glenn's solo shows and he did not disappoint -- either night! It was nice that he mixed it up with old and new songs. I'd go back in a heartbeat!!!

I too have been reminiscing all week too about the wonderful few days I spent with the other Borderers in Niagara Falls - Soda, Dreamer, PLS, FP, TF, GL, HH, and their respective spouses. It was wonderful after four years on the board, and after wanting to see even ONE Glenn  show to be able to do two in a row. and of course he did not disappoint, with his mix of old and new, solos and Eagles. As FP has posted pics, he looked fabulous, and of course, the sweetest moment for me was when he actually read out the sign that I had brought!

Of course I too would go back in a heartbeat! Y trip earlier this year to LA with Soda and FP has only whetted my appetite for more....... And there are so many people I'd love to meet again!

It was 4 years ago that I made my first visit to the USA.

I stayed with my friend in Texas and we saw the Eagles at the Toyota Center in Houston on the 9 Sept, and at the AA Center in Dallas on the 13 & 14 Sept. This was the year of Hurricane Ike, and the Eagles cancelled their 2nd Houston show which should have been on the 11 Sept. So I missed out on one of my planned shows, as it was rescheduled for 1 December.

I remember these shows with great affection; seeing the Eagles in the US for the first time was a special experience. We did ILAA(which was a lot cheaper then!) so we had good seats and the shows were amazing :applause:- even though this was the era of the black suits.

Will looked absolutely gorgeous  and I adored him even more after these shows.:inlove:

I can't believe it was 4 years ago; where has the time gone?

Here are some photos I took at the Houston show. I don't think I've posted these before. Great memories.

I wanted so much to go to the LROOE show when they played in NY Madison Square Garden on May 28,2008. One of my friends was going & I went to look for tickets on StubHub & there was a ticket, for some outrageous price for a really crummy seat. I did get to see a video of the show later on.

I must say that although they all look gorgeous, I am not wild about the black suits with the white shirts & black ties. It looked too much like a somber event like a funeral, also the fact that they were all in matching outfits was a bit odd.
But the setlist for that show was fantastic...a longer show with the acoustic set, is just fantastic & I loved all the songs they did from LROOE!! I am hoping they will add some of those back into the 40th Anniversary Tour!

Steph, you are very lucky to have seen a few shows on that tour :jealous:

Step,
Thanks for posting pics and sharing memories. I love them especially your Will.
Jahh and I saw them LROOE tour at the Wacovia center in PHilly in June of 08. we went ILAA (yep...much cheaper at that time). we wanted to see them and it was both our first concert. God rewarded me and I was in front of GH all night. Yeah me. THen we saw them two days later in AC at the Borgata and I was infront of TBS in the 7th row. After waiting my whole life to see them, I got to do it twice in one week. We refer to that as the year we went to the hotel california.lol
Then, the fri before thanksgiving the same year, it was actually really early in the am on Sat, I was dosing on the couch watching LFM dvd.I heard JAhh say Yes I'm going for it.
Turned out he was buying seats to their concert 2 days before Thanksgiving when they came back to Philly . We wound up with 5th row seats on the floor in front onf GH yet again.
SO, I am greatful that I saw them three times in one year.
Let alone at all.'
I jsut love the group and there isnt too much I would say bad about them. They always enterain and I am greatful the memries are burried in my brain.

It was a great evening, VA. It was the first time we met! We've come a long way in year and I treasure our friendship! It was a rare treat to hear Glenn speak about his early song-writing days and his writing process. He was genuine and open in encouraging the music students of NYU to follow their dreams. No, I sent her a PM the day before, I think, said I was going. I'd gotten an Amtrak ticket but then didn't know if the boss would let me go. I upgraded to Acela so I could use the Wifi and work the whole trip up. Grrrrr. But we determined a time and met in front of the building. Soda was with her. It was great to meet them both and we had a wait to get inside, so we had lots of time to talk.

My very first Eagles show was 7 years ago today in Sacramento, CA. I had seen Don before with Stevie a few times but that was it. I went on the spur of the moment thinking I might never get another chance (I know, LOL, but anyway...) What an experience it was! Soda, I do think it's cute that you thought you might never see them again way back then, but then it's easy to be a Monday morning quarterback! What's even more important, I think, is that you began your friendships with people you met on the boards and have continued to meet friends all over the country and the world!

Yep - This Day in Eagles History comes in very handy in reminding me of this kind of stuff.

And the Sacramento show was definitely a special show for me as well. Even though it wasn't my first Eagles show, it was the first one that I met up with other fans. As they say - "the rest is history".

Soda, I do think it's cute that you thought you might never see them again way back then, ...

PM - We seriously did think it would be the last show we ever saw, which is exactly the reason we flew all the way to California to see them. The band had hit some bumps in the road with the recording of the Long Road Out of Eden, and at the time, it didn't appear as if the album was going to happen. Don and Glenn were both making comments in interviews that they were about ready to hang it up for good. Thank goodness they got back to work on the album, and things seem to have been going much more smoothly with the guys ever since. :yay:

In one of the interviews with Joe, he said there were a lot of problems making LROOE. It was very hard for them since they hadn't made an album together in so long. The process went almost nowhere for about a year. It became very labor intensive, & I think there may have been disagreements as to what songs to even put on the album & then it turned into a double album. I don't think that was the original plan for a double album.

I was at the London O2 Arena show on 22 March 2008 - can't believe it was 5 years ago. It was my first Eagles show & the first time I'd seen my darling Will Hollis in the flesh......the world stood still and I'm sure my heart stopped when Will & the other support band guys walked onto the stage.
Although the arena was full, for a few seconds I wasn't aware of anyone except Will.:smitten:
I've got wonderful memories of that night!! The Eagles ran onto the stage as they played the opening bars of 'How Long' - haven't seen them run on at any show since.
I didn't care that they were in THOSE suits; I was just overawed to be at my first Eagles show.
We had seats in the middle section, row 3, so we had a good view.

'LROOE & Waiting in the Weeds' sounded awesome, and I was pleased that they did 'Somebody' 'cos listening to the CD I'd thought that it would make a good live song - and it did.

You never forget your first time.

Maybe they are going to do 3 hours for this tour???? Didn't we hear that someplace??

I think Glenn Frey said it ~ I would pay the money they're asking to see a 3-hour show. It would be worth it. If they ever come to the South, that is.

A year ago tonight, HH, Zelda, and I were shopping in a freakishly large liquor store in Alpharetta, picking up supplies for our stay to see our guys. Tomorrow will be one year since the three of us and Soda saw them, and Saturday will be one year since HH, LizzyPlays, and I saw them.

A pic from each:

Ah yes! Happy times! Today is also the anniversary of the San Jose show I saw with Troub, Wildthyme, Peek, Rhonda, and PLS in 2010. That was the night Peek took the famous photo of the "airborne Eagles":

:hilarious: We were tagged in it yesterday, I noticed. I will never forget getting a text from a couple of the ladies out there saying something like "OMG!! Joe and Smokey were just standing within feet of us at the elevator" and then finding out that it had left them all speechless. Kind of glad Ticky behaved herself and Joe was able to still make it to the shows. :hilarious:

Yes, we've gone to six Eagles concerts together, one songwriters event with Glenn, two of Glenn's solo shows, and one of Don's. (And a Seger concert!) Oddly enough, we aren't doing any shows together in the upcoming History tour and no shows at all in the next one.

Very briefly the Wiltern show was a year ago today my time. Soda, GA & I had a blast. I sat near Cindy & Jack Tempchin, saw Otis as 'guest percussionist' & had the immense privilege of seeing Here's To Life for the first time live. Also Same Girl, FSR, Worried Mind.... wow. I never dreamed I would then see it all again next year.

I wasn't right down the front but I was in Glenn's direct line of vision. When I stood up at the end I am pretty sure he saw me then. He was building up a library! :partytime:

I'm doing my own bit of reminiscing too this weekend. What a wonderful time it was, and being with Soda and FP made it even better. I can honestly say that it was one of the best if not THE best concert I have ever been to. I was right in front of Glenn  in the front row with Soda. It all went by just too quickly.

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t236/Irisheaglesfan/Glenn%20Frey%20LA%202012/LA2012084.jpg

I should also say that we went to Dan Tanas for a meal afterwards and just being there too, steeped in all that Eagle history was just so awesome.

I think by the time we got back to the hotel that second night the sum total of my hours spent sleeping (apart from a little power nap in LAX while waiting for Soda) over 3 nights was....... 9

FP it was wonderful for you too that you managed to do it all again and in such style again this year. I'm still regretting I didn't get to join you!

Zelda, I love that story! One year ago I finally got to see Timothy solo. After admiring him for 40 years, he finally got the attention I always thought he deserved. I first loved him in Poco, and being so near to him was really a thrill. To be able to hear him tell stories and sing lead on every song was like a dream come true. I love the Eagles, but I always thought Timothy was so under used. So just him was so great. As Zelda mentioned, she and Topkat were there, but I did't know them. I had not yet found this board. Another great thing about this show- it's the reason I found the Border. I was looking for anything I could find about the show and I found you all. I am so glad I did. It is so great to know there are others as crazy about Timothy as I am. I just hope this show was not a once in a lifetime thing. I hope and pray that Timothy is healthy and regains his voice. I can't wait for another solo album and hopefully another tour.

I woke up this morning thinking that it was last year that I was going to see Timothy at BB Kings. I have the post card with the date on it in my wall unit & I was remembering that day....Getting ready to go, what to wear =...it was so hot & humid, actually a lot like it was today & it was supposed to rain. Apparently, it poured while we were inside at the show.,..

Now, I had seen the Eagles several times, & Poco many times, but I had never seen Timothy's solo show...I was so thrilled to be there...
I met 2 really nice women on line at the show & we sat together right in front of the stage! I took some pics & video & I see Zelda posted one of them.

I had no idea that Zelda was going to be there, because as she said it was a last minute & lucky break that she ended up there... She didn't have my number so we didn't meet up there, but I did get to meet her when we saw the Eagles in Atlantic City in Sept!! I later heard that Sally Gee was also there, but we didn't know each other yet either!

It was a wonderful night & I had such a great time....Sure wish I was watching Timothy play tonight, instead of sitting here typing about it!:depressed:

I had to keep track. I have such a bad memory that I would have gotten everything all muddled up in my head if I hadn't kept a list. It's easy enough - just write down where you went as soon as you get home! lol I also tried to keep tickets but sadly with the advent of print-out tickets that stopped being fun. I try to do Will-Call but some places won't even let you.

Good point. I have a friend who keeps a spreadsheet of his concerts. I tease him about it, but I guess that would have been a good idea, but that ship has sailed for me. All I have is a shoebox of ticket stubs :)

OMG Nancy!! I am EXHAUSTED just reading the list!! Just one word from me - AMAZING! Ok - 2 words - JEALOUS!!

The closest that I have come to that is this year in one week:

Saturday - 03/16 - Eric Clapton
Monday - 03/18 - Alicia Keys
Tuesday - 03/19 - Maroon 5
Saturday - 03/23 - Eagles (Las Vegas)

And those were all in Houston except for the Eagles.

So..........

I was thrilled for you and a little horrified at the same time. I remember making you give me the name and address of this woman because I couldn't believe that she'd offer you her couch having just met you. It all worked out, though, you had a great time, got to see Tim again and didn't end up robbed and dumped in an alley in Hells Kitchen.

Amen!!! While I was reading what Z posted about that night, I got nervous even knowing that she's fine and still with us. Glad it worked out but...No!!No!! No!! No!!! :fingerwag:

Wow soda, what a list.
Sounds like a book in the making to me..lol

FOr me, Jahh and I saw TBS solo at the keswick in glenside pa. May 31st 2012.It's a Beautiful old theater and it was half empty...such a shame. He completed my "seeing them all solo". I had decided before hand not to listen to Expando..I just wanted to be suprised and enjoy the music for the first time....glad I did.

I love Zelda' story , although I admidt that I almost chocked on my burger at the hard rock in AC when she told me.(our dinner before the eagles concert sept.1,2012..Dreamer, Soda,JAhh, Zelda and me...HH and VA were at pre show dinner at the revel before the concert)

FOr me, my very first "show" was DOn henley at the Borgata in June 9th 2007. He was sick that night but such a trooper and a great show

Then therewas the LROOE tour which I saw them three times .(Twice in July in Philly and the borgata in ac) (At this show at the Borgata, I got my picture taken with Scott Crago, WIll Hollis and Stuert SMith and their autographs and did I mention a hug from WIll and Scott??? ANd a TBS pick thrown right at me by TBS himself. What a night) And then Nov 25th 2008 at the Wachovia again.

Then there was Joe Walsh and BBKing at the Borgata 10-22-2011. It was an anniversary gift from JAHH ..We met up with Dreamer, SOda HH and her dh..FIrst time we met everyone and it was drinks and dessert after the show.

Then, After Hours tour at the Sands in Bethelhem Pa and it was Happy Birthday TT from JAHH..where we met up with Soda, Dreamer, VA and Pretty lil miss...(forgive me there were other people who joined us for drinks after and names escape me now)

Then came TBS as stated above, which means I had seen them all solo.

Next was the revel sept 1,2012...what a blast what a show and got to meet Sela Ward to boot. LOL She loves the Eagles and thought tey wer fab..When DH was motioning to her to come back stage,.I thought he was pointing at HH since she and Va were next to Sela and her Hubby.

Last but not least was the DH show Feb 1st at the revel with HH and her DH , dreamer,Va JAHH and myself. Great show and we were all sitting where we could see each other during the show. ALso got to meet Michael Thompson and he signed my cd too..Awesome expierences all of them

This is just the "boys"

It has been fun sharing stories and conceert reviews on line with other border people.
The Tbs show was one year ago today and it was great..Terrific talented guy.SO blessed tohave seen them all solo..you see another side to them.

Tk, can't believe it's been a year already! Such fun for you!

On this day in 2003 I got to see the Eagles at the Savis Center (now Scottrade) in St. Louis on the Farewell I tour! Can't believe it's been 10 years already! I didn't have great seats (25th row on the floor in the center) but hubby and I had a fantastic time! I actually tried standing on my seat, but figured I'd get in trouble, so I gave up on that and finally towards the end, made my way down to the front of the stage in a crowd of rabid fans on Joe's side to get a closer look!

I need to read my notes to try to remember if they wore the suits and what they sang! But I do remember it was fabulous! :brickwall:

YIKES! That was a long time ago.
Funny you mentioned standing on your seat because as a teen, I did this all the time! I got away with it too, & nobody even complained, but of course those were the days when the ushers were all stoned on pot like everyone else!!!LOL:hilarious::hilarious: They didn't really care what you did! I used to sit on my boyfriends shoulders, & jump on my seat! I was a little maniac back then! I think I once even fell into the row behind me :hilarious:

This night 4 years ago we were all at the Eagles in the RDS in Dublin. It was a wonderful evening. Even though it had rained heavily all day it dried up in time and even Glenn  commented that the weather was 'cooperating'!

I know StephUK was there - Laura and I had met her and her friend in Belfast two evenings earlier.

They dispensed with the suits and looked every bit rock stars that night!

Doubtful. I think they just didn't like how they looked. There was like three seconds of How Long from a LROOE show, but the rest of the time they'd talk about LROOE but show clips from Farewell 1 and the HITW video. Lame! One of the few things I didn't like about the doc.

Two absolutely wonderful, incredibly surprising shows. What a privilege it was to see some of the After Hours songs performed for the first time, as well as On The Way Home, from an idea Glenn had that never came to fruition. I will never forget how he pointed at me during Route 66 at the second show. I knew then he remembered me from Sydney 2010. He would get to recognise me again later on. I sure haven't forgotten either! I've just had a busy couple of days without much time to post. It was a privilege to have seen these two shows. To hear Glenn make the initial announcement of the impending "History of the Eagles" documentary & his own "After Hours" album & to have seen him perform On The Way Home & four songs from AH was beyond my wildest dreams!!! It was thrilling to see the attention Glenn gave to GA on the first night & all the Borderers sitting at the front the second night! I must admit that I did feel some pangs of jealousy though. :) I still get all excited when I think about those concerts! They are one of the highlights of my life.

Apart from the concerts it was such fun just spending time with the other Borderers & the spouses that GA mentioned! It killed me that I couldn't join any of you for any of the After Hours tour! FP, as you said, Glenn mentioned in NF that he wanted to do another album. I pray that he does & that I will be able to make it to at least one concert if he does tour for it.

I also wish that there were others that could join GH & me in Montreal for the Eagles HotE concert there! Would really love to see all of you again & to meet other fellow Borderers! Harold misses seeing everyone too!

Well today is the 3-year anniversary of my one and only Party of Two show. What a way to spend Labor Day weekend that was. It was an absolutely fantastic setting in Aspen, an absolutely fantastic show, and an absolutely fantastic party with Soda, Perfect Little Sister, Wildthyme, and, of course, GlennLover and her hubby, Harold.

GL, I'm loving your avatar!

As my av & sig indicate, today is the anniversary of Glenn & Joe's concert in the JazzAspenSnowmass festival in 2010. The concert took place outdoors in Snowmass, Co. surrounded on all sides by the Rocky mountains. What a fantastic experience! The guys were in great spirits, cracking jokes & kidding each other. They gave a great performance!!!

I had the privilege of sharing the experience with Soda, Dreamer. PLS & Wildtyme. The only downside of the weekend was that time with these gals was too short! My husband & I stayed for several days & we were able to explore the area.

This is a picture of the Little Nell hotel (on the right), situated right at the base of Aspen Mountain. It is built on the site of The Gallery, the club where David Geffen sent the Eagles to practise after he signed them in 1971, as mentioned in the HotE.

Glenn mentioned The Gallery & Little Nell in the concert & I had remembered hearing the story before that. That's why I took the picture, but it didn't really mean anything to anybody else. Now that people have seen the HotE doc it has more significance to others.

Dreamer, sure wish we could do it or something similar again!

Nine years ago today I got to meet Don Henley at a solo show in Springfield, Missouri! Can't believe it has been that long-where does the time go?!

I remember when he came in to the meet and greet that I thought he was such a small person. After idolizing him for years surely he was at least 7 feet tall! I knew I was going to cry before it was finally my turn to speak with him, I mean, I had loved that voice since 1972....I was in the same room and was actually going to touch him and talk with him! He was very nice and signed everything I presented to him and then we got our picture taken together.

A moment I'll never forget! :sigh:

Watching some videos of when I saw them in 2008. I'm so ready to see them again!!! And meet some Borderers. But seeing them not in funeral clothes will be nice and to see Bernie. Although I prefer Walsh, I have respect for him in that he paved the way for guitar and for multiple guitar changes over the years (Bernie/Bernie+Felder/Felder+Walsh). And I do dig the solos on PEF and TIE and of course the song WW. I will be glad to see the band in slightly less formal/more casual appearance.

That's a great story, Brooke. Such a great memory.

Today, is the 41st anniversary of the first time I saw the Eagles in concert, in 1972. I still have the ticket stub. The tickets cost $5.50 and the show also included Yes and Edgar Winter.

I always love reading this thread! And Springbo, your anniversary takes the cake. Wow - how lucky you were ... I would love to see a picture of your ticket stub. Would it be possible to scan it and post it here? I would be very grateful. Unfortunately, even though I was a fan of the band from the very beginning, I never saw them live until 2003. So I love living all these old shows vicariously through those of you who were so lucky. And just for the record, $5.50 won't hardly buy you a bottle of water at a show today.

Yep, I lost my Eagles viginity that night! First show ever! Lol! I had to convince Mr. Prettymaid that Soda, Willie and her hubby weren't serial killers (even though I'd never met them ;-)) and we had dinner together before the show. We had gotten our floor, row 20 tickets months in advance and thought we were sittin' pretty, when we see Soda, who didn't have a ticket when we all arrived, being led to her row 10 aisle seat! Hubby and I just looked wide-eyed at each other and shook our heads! Maleah, who I got to meet briefly before the show, took all of those excellent pictures we're always raving about from row 5, Joe's side. Willie has been kind enough to invite us to her home, and you couldn't meet nicer people than her and Larry. Soda has met us at a couple more shows since then, and we always have a good time. And the show was great! DUH!

Thanks Springbo for the picture of the poster and your efforts to post a photo of the ticket.

And HB - I'd love to see your ticket too if you find it.

Anyway, I noticed in Today in Eagles History that the Eagles played their first show in my hometown of Richmond, VA. Now, unfortunately, I can't reminisce about it because I didn't go to that show or any of the others in the 70's for that matter. But it did remind me that I forgot to post in this thread earlier this year about the 10-year anniversary of my first Eagles show in Richmond on May 9, 2003. I definitely didn't forget the date, but I just forgot to post about it here. I would love to see some video from that show, but as far as I know, none has ever surfaced. I'll never forget the excitement of loosing my Eagles virginity even if I was a very late bloomer!

I looked at my ticket and the price must have been on the other side because it is not on my half. Back in the days when they tore tickets in half, I did not like that. My half does show EAGL and Main Floor, Section C, Row 4. I will take it to Memphis and maybe Dreamer or Soda can show me how to post photos.

You all are too funny! lol

Well, it was 37 years ago today that I went to my first Eagles concert at the Checkerdome in St. Louis! The Eagles had been me and my husband's favorite band since he got their first album in 1972. We were poor and it was such a thrill to get to go see them live! I so wish I could remember something about that concert other than that they looked like ants from my view in the rafters and that smell! Maybe that’s why I can’t remember anything! I remember the trip there, but not much else! :hmm:

I was so thrilled to find this entry in my old diary a couple years ago because I couldn’t even remember the date for sure:

Tuesday, November 23, 1976
“B and I left for St. Louis this afternoon at 4:30 to go see the Eagles, Joe Walsh, and JD Souther. We went with 4 other friends. They sang all my favorites plus some songs from their new album ‘California Hotel’! (Obviously I didn’t have the new album yet! lol) I’ve waited to see them so long, I wish it wasn’t over! I loved it!” :sigh:

My brother and cousin declared that they went all the way down to the stage during the concert! I never knew whether to believe them or not, but was jealous that I hadn’t been brave enough to try it! (And to think I might have gotten a 3E button! Didn't know anything about those back then!) I didn’t even remember that JD was with them, but my husband does.

And it was 26 years before we got to see them in concert again!
