Time for a new game...
Eagles Trivial Pursuit!
Prize:
A copy of Tim's new CD Expando (donated by Ive always been a dreamer)
Structure of the game:
This game has the same basic structure as Trivial Pursuit. There are 6 categories with 6 questions on each card, one per category. Each category is represented by a different color. If you get that question right, you get a wedge of that color. The object of the game is to correctly answer one question from each category and end up with six colored wedges. The first player to obtain all 6 wedges will be the winner.
Game Play:
I will post one “card” of six questions every other day. I will not always post the card at the same time of day, so keep checking back!
The first person to answer a question correctly from a category gets that color wedge. Once someone has answered a question correctly, it's "off the table."
When posting your answer, please put the category that the question pertains to. For instance, for the blue question "What was the Eagles' first album" you'd answer "Blue: Eagles LP."
You can only answer one of the questions on each “card.” If a person has already answered a category’s question correctly for that card, you must choose one of the other questions to answer. For instance, if one person answers the pink question on the card correctly, someone else can still try to answer a question from one of the other color categories.
This continues until each category’s questions have been answered or until the round is over, whichever comes first. Thus, up to six people can gain a color wedge per round. On the other hand, no single person will be able to get more than one color wedge per round.
I won't say if a question has been answered correctly until the end of the round. If you think that a person has gotten a question wrong, you can also answer that category's question with what you believe to be the right answer. For instance, if someone answers "What is Tim's middle name" with "Jean" and you know that's incorrect, you can post your answer - "Bruce."
When you answer a question correctly, I’ll put that color wedge in your pie. For instance, if you get a pink question right, I’ll have this image next to your name:
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/glennfreyonline/misc/piepinksmall.jpg
If you then get a green question right, this image is next to your name:
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/glennfreyonline/misc/piepinkgreensmall.jpg
And so on and so forth until you get this:
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/glennfreyonline/misc/wholepiesmall.jpg
Don't be discouraged if you fall behind - with this kind of game, a person can get stuck on a certain category and even though they start out way ahead, wind up not winning the game!
Here are the categories:

Just a reminder for everyone - if there is an occasion where someone has answered a question incorrectly, then it is okay for another player to post the correct answer. Then that player will win the colored wedge for the round.

Just a couple of notes about the rules for everyone:
Typos and spelling errors won't disqualify an answer as long as it is clearly obvious what the answer is supposed to be.
Also, please remember that each player can only answer one question per round and the category or color should be included in the answer. Therefore, we will accept bernie's bender's first answer in the green category if it is correct. The blue category is still up for grabs this round.

there is no answer for the green category because bernie´s bender has changed his post (previously, he has replied to both questions) after Dreamer and I have written our post!

Hmmm - not sure what's going on here. But Koala is right. bernie's bender had answered the questions for the green category first, and then also answered the blue category. So I was going to let his first answer stand, and let someone else answer the blue category, which is what Koala did. Not sure why bender decided to delete his first answer, but I guess that opens the green category back up if someone wants to answer it.

Alright folks, here's the answers to Card #3:
Eagles: The Eagles first enlisted Bill Szymczyk to finish producing which album?
On the Border
Glenn Frey: Which singer did Glenn date in 1974?
Joni Mitchell
Don Henley: Which Don Henley song mentions McNuggets?
They're Not Here, They're Not Coming
Joe Walsh: Joe Walsh’s daughter Lucy appeared on what MTV reality show?
Rock the Cradle
Timothy B. Schmit: What name did Timothy B. Schmit give Jimmy Buffet’s fans?
Parrotheads
Former Eagles: Prior to becoming an Eagle, Don Felder gave guitar lessons to which future rock star?
Tom Petty
Now, there was some confusion last round. Bender posted both the green and blue answers. Dreamer said that we'd give him the green, but the blue was still open, so Koala answered blue. Not realizing that Dreamer had said this, Bender deleted the green question and just kept the blue. However, since Bender had deleted the green answer, timfan answered it. Since Koala was told the blue was open and since timfan could see no correct green answer as it had been deleted, both of them will get their wedges. Since Dreamer told Bender he would get a green wedge, I will go ahead and give that to him. Thus, two green wedges will get given out this time. I'm only doing this because it's a new game and mistakes are inevitable. From here on out, though, anyone who answers two questions in one post will not get credit for either and his/her post will be modified accordingly. Also, it is not allowable to edit posts.
Phew. Now, after all that, the game pieces as they now stand!

:yay: Cathy!!! Good job!! Great game! Hope we can do it again sometime.
ETA- I really learned a few things while researching some of the stuff here. Here's an interesting tidbit for someone like me that LOVES her vinyl---Did you know that the original pressings of Eagles Live has phrases engraved on the carryout grooves? Now of course I want an original pressing. :hilarious: Here's the wiki article that I found about it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eagles_Live
and the part about it....
Vinyl record notes
The record labels were custom, showing a birds nest filled with eggs and hand grenades.
Original pressings of this double-album had text engraved in the carry-out grooves on each side:
Side 1: Is it illegal to yell "movie!" in a firehouse?
Side 2: "Hello, Federal?...Ship it!"
Side 3: Not Tonight, Thanks...
Side 4: ...Ive gotta rest up for my monster"
The carry-out groove of the fourth side did not fade to silence as was customary for the vast majority of records. Instead, the crowd noise continued, even into the final-loop groove. Thus for those listening on manual turntables, the applause would not end until the listener removed the stylus from the disc.
Pretty cool huh? I always loved the last part about the carry-out groove on the fourth side never going silent till you pick up the needle.

Thanks everybody! I thought I'd lost there for a couple of rounds! Unlike the real game, timing is very important in this game and I just lucked out at the end. Also unlike the real version, we were able to research our answers before posting. Would I have won an actual game of Eagles Trivial Pursuit against all of you... NO WAY!!!! :hilarious:
LTL, you tied up with me the last couple of rounds because I didn't get here in time to answer the questions in the categories I needed. I thought for sure that you were going to pull it off. All you needed was blue, and that last blue Eagles question was hard! I couldn't find the answer! So kudos to you for almost coming up with the win. Again, timing eventually worked in my favor.
Thanks to Soda and Dreamer for coming up with the game and the prize. It was a fun game to play.

Glad you liked the game, guys! Maybe we could do more of these!
So, in that spirit, do we have any feedback? Anything you think might work better to make the game more fun?
For instance, were the questions too easy or too hard?
Should we allow more people to answer, maybe have two cards per round?
Should we allow people who have already gotten a certain color piece to answer that color again?
Should we make the rounds a different length - perhaps one day instead of two?
Any other feedback?

I'll send you a PM later about your prize. I must say that I was very impressed with everyone's knowledge about the band.
Thanks everyone for your participation and nice comments. However, as I said earlier, Soda really did do most of the work once we figured out how we thought the game should work. (Ask her how much fun making all those little color wheel combinations was). Hopefully, everyone had a lot of fun with it, and it will be interesting to get feedback for any future games.

It worked well as it was - in the spirit of the orignial TP. To me it stands to reason that if you 'win' a colour then you can't answer any more questions in that colour. The problem I had was the time difference - by the time I saw the questions many of them had already been answered.
In answer to ABM's post my vinyl copy of Eagles Live also has this inscription: 'From the Polack who sailed north' which I assume is a reference to Bill Szymczyk. I think I have that instead of 'not tonight thanks'.

I agree with FP about only answering one question per round. However, a couple of times when I went to answer, the questions had been answered too. I imagine that happened for people in all time zones. I thought that that was the idea, having them posted at different times so it would be fair to all.
I wouldn't have any problem with the answers being posted & the wedges being awarded once all the questions have been answered correctly. The next round could be posted at any time that Soda thinks is fair to all. Anyway, I enjoyed it as it was, so whatever is decided is OK with me. I also think that a combination of moderate to difficult questions works well, although questions about your favourite Eagle may be easy for you while those about the other 3 may seem more challenging, ie, I found most of the questions about Glenn fairly easy while some of the questions about the others were more difficult for me.

Been thinking about "what could we do better/different" and I'd have to say NOTHING. The rules, as they were set forth, were true to the original game...and leaving it with one card per round allows the game to go on for a longer period of time.
Again, good show...the time zone thing didn't really affect me, but we do have a lot of international members. Maybe next time postings of questions could be shifted to allow them a better chance.

Julie, I think you might be referring to what I added about the original pressings? I changed my avi because our avatars were very similar so thus the confusion perhaps. Is that inscription on the carry-out grooves? I didn't see that inscription mentioned but sounds like you might have an original pressing then. Is their an inscription on each side of the albums?

My apologies, Willie. I think everyone will be even more confused as I've jumped on the Tim bandwagon for his birthday!
Believe it or not I no longer have my vinyl copy of Eagles Live but yes, there were four inscriptions on the carry out grooves. In any case, the 'Polack' inscription turns out to be on my vinyl copy of The Long Run.

My only concern during this game was that not many people were able to play a round. Therefore I probably would vote for having two cards per round. But I don't think it should be allowed for a person to win a wedge in a particular color and then answer that same color again. That keeps someone who needs that color from being able to answer it.

I like that PM. That's where strategy could really come into play toward the end of the game. You need a couple of wedges but someone else is down to only one wedge needed----do you answer for your wedge on one card or do you "block" the wedge on the other card to keep the game going longer and not let that person win. Clever!
