I was doing some cleaning a few weeks ago and I found a huge stack of cds in my closet. A lot of the cds are unmarked and some just had dates on them so i've been listening to all of them. I came across a Limp Bizkit cd that I had back in highschool and as I was listening to it i was surprised when I came across this song.
Warning: There are some explicit lyrics in this song.

Listening to this song and hearing the Eagles in it got me thinking about other artists that have sampled some of the Eagles music and solo songs. I'm going to have to do some research but i know that there are others that i've heard before but can't think of any at the moment. Maybe some of you will remember some of these songs.

I can't find a video of it, but Coolio sampled "Smuggler's Blues" in his song "Nature of the Business."

Do they have to ask for the artists permission before they can do this? I can't imagine our guys thinking some of these songs are ok. Ridiculous!!!

It depends. Here's some info on the doctrine of fair use (which does not require permission) with regard to sampling:

As always, with the law, it's complicated. Whoever has the slickest lawyer wins, and even then it can be overturned by somebody else or superseded by a later case where a new precedent is set.

I listened to Limp Bizkit when I was in high school but don't really care for it now days. It's funny to think back on when I first got that cd. I used to listen to that song a lot when I used to "drag Main Street" with my friends in high school but I had no idea that the Eagles were on that song.
