GS, I'm sure Boo Boo is missing her mama, but I bet she's lavishing love and cuddles on your dad. Just what they both need.

HH - loved the "all tucked in" photo. Reminded me of my grandmother's dogs (2 black miniature poodles) who had to be tucked in every night. Of course you're spoiling them - impossible not to!

Thought I'd share this story with those of you who read this thread.

The SPCA over here have run a campaign to highlight just how intelligent the dogs for adoption are.

http://www.drivingdogs.co.nz which will take you to the Facebook page to see a short video clip. Yes, they really are driving. Really.

Coincidentally, we are now looking to adopt a second rescue dog. We will wait until we meet a good match for us - I went to the local shelter last weekend but the dogs were all really big, and we're looking for something smaller this time (and a good match for Holly who is nearly 8).

Eden is a Fox Terrier. She comes from a rescue shelter, and they did a great job writing her profile. She is a very smart little cookie, she has already learnt (in 48 hours) that good things happen when she sits down. She is learning to sit and to come when she is called, but unfortunately she doesn't have a clue about toilet training! :?

She is sweet, snuggly, full of energy (she has just been desexed and is supposed to be resting... ha! So not happening!) and she adores us all. She has already got permission to get up on the sofa and when she is brought up onto our bed in the morning she burrows right down under the sheets. She adores Sparky (he now looks ENORMOUS in comparison, she is just a wee dot) and she climbs all over him. He is absolutely fantastic with her, too.

Fingers crossed, but so far she is an absolute dream. We are all in love with her. :inlove:

Why, thank you for asking! Eden is doing wonderfully well (we have now registered her, so the name is official!).

In the week that we've had her, she has learnt to sit, lie down, come here and stay. Of course she needs lots and lots more practice, but she has learnt what the commands mean.

She and Sparky are currently curled up together on the bed next to me, Eden's back against Sparky's legs. She is doing well with the cats, too.

I will post some more photos soon.

Great to hear that Eden is adjusting so well, EK. I guess it's easy for her since she is so lucky to have such a loving new family. Can't wait to see more pictures.

Anyway, my Smuggler has suddenly decided that we are no longer going to sleep in on weekends. Our routine is that at night he sleeps in his crate. When he wakes up in the morning, I let him out and we move to the sofa to sleep a little longer until it's time to get up because he's not allowed on my bed. On weekends, we sleep in a little later than weekdays. But both yesterday and today, he decided we weren't going to do that. He would not lay down with me and insisted on 'playing' until I finally got up. So as soon as I relent and get up, guess who decided he was ready for a nap??? :unimpressed:

our gal useta sleep till 800 am that was it..
she was in the dining room with her create door open ..she liked to sleep in there with her blanket and toys....we doggied proofed the dining room and gave her run of the room since we could close the door and she had toys and blankets and pillow in there...she loved to sleep on the pillow not on a doggie bed..
the best was the day I came home to greet her and she was on her haunches out of breath and all her toys and blankets were askew and the pillow she had slept on was standing strainght up and down between the chandeleer and the table.....her look was oh I am in trouble..I just fussed like I was glad to see her and took her to run around outside. LOL still to this day dont know how she did it but we raised the chandeler up higher and removed the globes so they wouldnt break and shower her with glass. goofy crazy funny doggie. I really miss her.

Troub - love the pictures. Maisie and the pup are both adorable. I know you must miss Maisie terribly when you're away. Thankfully, she's in good hands so you don't have to worry about her.

And yes - Smuggler was a bad doggie this weekend when he wouldn't let me sleep in. But, hopefully, he will go back to being his adorable, sweet, perfect little self next weekend. If not, we are gonna have to have a heart-to-heart.

Troub--Maisie is so sweet!!!

Dreamer-- I had to laugh at the "not allowed on the bed" :hilarious: I WISH!!! My monster Rufus has to sleep right in the middle of us and there's at least 1-3 cats also there. Pickles can't jump up on the bed but sleeps on his bed right next to my side. Last Saturday night, Larry had gotten out of bed because of his back and went to his recliner around 1 am. A couple of hours later, he came back in and started snoring so I got up and went to the sofa. Rufus was beside himself. Kept whining and going from the bed back out to the living room and nudging me. I finally got up and went back into the bed, he jumped up, settled down in the middle of us and slept the rest of the night. :hilarious: They're all so freaking spoiled rotten!!! How does that happen?

Thanks Brooke, he seems to be doing quite well at the moment - he's on a total of 3 different meds (one twice a day) which he will probably have to stay with for quite a few months :-( and he's had to have a change of diet - but fingers crossed all's going well so far!

Thanks Zelda, apparently he has what is called "Fatty Liver Disese" :-(
which causes quite a few fatalities in the avian world if not caught in time - so fingers (and everything else) crossed
Sorry, I don't seem able to post a pic right now....but if you go back to page 73 in this thread you will find him there! :)

This is the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make in my life
…I’m so sorry baby
Fly high and free my gorgeous boy
I’ll never forget you

These words of JB seem to be constantly in my mind...

"Bring the morning on
Voices sing of day
I want to step out in the morning sun
Through the flood of tears
I want this darkness gone
Your sweet face appears
These apparitions coming one by one
But there’s no end in sight
Only the dead of night
And too many angels"

I am also very sorry about Charlie, Carole. I know how terribly hard this is for you and you are in my thoughts. I know that as time passes, your tears of sadness will dry and be replaced with fond memories. Take care of yourself and R.I.P. Charlie.

Once again, thanks for all your kind words, they mean a lot!

It's been 2 weeks tomorrow and I still find myself talking to him or when i'm preparing dinner i'll say to myself "Charlie would like this i'll save him a bit"

I'm not really a tattoo kind of person - but i'm seriously considering having a small one on the back of my hand in his memory.....just trying to find the right design. I'll keep you informed! ;)
