Well, like many, I agree that the final three are as they should be. I will be happy no matter which song wins. They are all great in their one special ways.

I was going to wait to vote... but I think I'll just do it now. It's great song, I love it, I do. I know this vote will pain some. (sorry Soda!) It's just that Lyin' Eyes has always been one of my favorite songs, ever... and OOTN's is so freaking sexy, (I think Troub mentioned that), those opening bars... Smokey, sultry, hot...

While that is great news for these two songs, it's not so great for those of us who have to pick one over the other. Like many others have stated, either way it goes will be okay with me. Well - I'm with all of those who won't be disappointed no matter which of these final three songs wins the game. As some of you have said and as far as I'm concerned, they are all winners. Each of them is a great song in its own way, and they probably equally deserve to win the game. Declaring a 3-way tie would've been fine with me. :wink: But I guess I have to vote for my least favorite by only a smidgeon ...

I would say that it is only justice that we are down to the final 3 'Biggies' Again, there are reasons why I love each of them and all three are masterpieces. However I HAVE to pick one to eliminate this round, and so by a very narrow margin I vote off 'Take It To The Limit'

I haven't got a clue how many votes each song has, but (by the narrowest of margins as I like both songs equally for different reasons) my vote to win goes to 'One of these nights'.

For me, while I like both songs, only one of the two I truly adore. One of These Nights is very sexy, but to me, also sounds very 70s (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Take It to the Limit is a timeless masterpiece. Its arrangement, structure, and melodic progression has a building intensity that carries you from a gorgeous, melancholy beginning to that climax in a step by step progression... building the drums.... the orchestration... the backing vocals coming in... the held notes, pauses, full stops... all pulling you along inexorably until you get to a powerful, dramatic climax that makes your heart pound with its defiant ferocity.

And just when you think you're wrung out, the songs turns around and pulls you through it again, just like life.... but it makes you look forward to the roller coaster because you know in the end it will lift you up. What starts out as a resignation to accept disappointment becomes a refusal to admit defeat. Take it... to the limit... one more time. Take it... to the limit... ONE MORE TIME... TAKE IT... TO THE LIMIT... ONE MORE TIME... until Randy is crying out over backing vocals that have become an anthemic testament to the power of the human spirit, persisting through pain.

It's not just a song, it's an experience.

I feel nothing even near to that kind of emotional intensity listening to OOTN, although it's certainly a good song.

So TAKE IT TO THE LIMIT all the way, baby. For me, it's not even close.

Well since my favourite went down in the last round, I have to vote for my next one and for me it stands out a mile. Its DARK, HOT, SULTRY, PASSIONATE and oozing with sex appeal.

One thing everybody should do before they die is listen to this live in an outdoor stadium just as dusk is closing in. It just moves you into another time.

I want to say Congratulations to Take It To the Limit as well. It is definitely one of my all-time favorite Eagles' songs.

Also, I added a third download in the 'winner" thread on the previous page. It is a very cool video of Randy performing the song with Timothy and Richard Marx in 1987. Definitely worth checking out if you've never seen it.

Congratulations, Take It To The Limit! I voted for OOTN to win, but it was a close call between the top three.

Awesome song. Randy's original vocal is stunning and never loses its power. I also love the way the guys sing it now in concert. Glenn absolutely does it justice, and I get goosebumps when the whole audience sings along. A worthy winner!

Although I really thought One of These Nights should win, I'm not hurting too bad with Take It To The Limit. Another awesome song! I do prefer Randy's version, always will, just because. I love listening to it on the Live album-I think even Glenn is amazed with Randy's performance on that from his comments afterwards.
