I was listening to "Song for Owen" just now and I realized that ALL of the current Eagles have written songs either for or inspired by their daughters!
Tim: Song for Owen
Don: Annabel
Joe: Song for Emma
Glenn: You Are Not Alone (he's said several times he wrote this for his daughter Taylor); Delicious (while not about her per se, it's dedicated to Taylor in the liner notes)
I think it's sweet - although in the case of Joe sad as well.
I wonder why the sons don't get songs? And if they ever get jealous? lol

Well, I know what my husband would say, It's just not a manly thing to do. Sing about your son? Nope.
As for Glenn's song for Taylor, Delicious, .....hmmmm. Those lyrics just don't say father/daughter to me. :eyebrow:

Not manly eh? Well then I guess the sons don't mind! lol
I agree about "Delicious" - in fact, I almost didn't include it in the list, but he did dedicate it to her, so.....

I look at it as being rather similar to Billy Joel's Temptation which is dedicated to his daughter Alexa. Temptation is written as if addressed to a grown woman and so is Delicious. I think the important point about both songs is that it is 'dedicated' to them rather than being literally 'about' them.

True; I went back and clarified that on my initial post.

More trivia: "Got Any Gum?" is dedicated to Joe Walsh's daughter, Lucy.

Since today is Father's Day (at least it is in the USA), I thought that I would revive this old thread!

Didn't Henley say that "Fast Company" was his song for the next generation?

Yeah, and I'd be just as concerned about Jeddrah being jealous! I'm sure he wrote some songs inspired by her or for her...right?

Think I read somewhere that he and Glenn wrote it with their daughters in mind. Teenagers and their dads!

I know one artist, Kenny Loggins wrote a song for each of his children and his got 3 sons and one daughter. So singers do write songs for their sons. I guess the guys thought its more fun to write about their daughters than their sons.
