I'm jumping off Dreamer's idea here - if you were to make a CD compilation of the best solo songs of the Eagles, what would it be? You don't have to include solo songs from all the Eagles, but you can if you want. It's up to you! Just keep it to 14 songs.

As Austin's list shows this can be done in different ways. You can either try & make it 'balanced' or you can showcase your own favourite Eagle.

Yep - it's there individual unique talents and personalities that make them so special as a collective group, IMHO.

I finally got around to coming up with my list. I found it extremely hard to come up with a list of only 14 songs because there are so many great ones to pick from. I decided it was easier to just stick with the hits and/or better known songs. Then, to complicate matters, I went ahead and decided the order that I would place them. So here's what I came up with ...

I found it too hard to just pick 14 songs, so I have limited it to songs that didn't appear on Farewell One or Hell Freezes Over. My somewhat rambling reasoning being that if somebody wanted to look up their solo stuff it would probably be because they were already interested in Eagles stuff... and those 2 official concert recordings already have some of their great solo work.

Again this is shaped by what I've heard, which is not a lot!! My apologies to Joe, although he does do ok out of the HFO & F1 DVDs. So my list is:

Yep, for the purpose of a solo sampler (& based on my earlier comment of excluding the stuff on the 2 DVDs).

It's clever, it's funny, a little outrageous, and in hearing it you can understand Joe's role in bringing fun to the Eagles (along with his enormous talent of course!).

ETA: of course it would depend on who the sampler was going to - I wouldn't give it to my 6 year old daughter or 95 year old grandmother!
