What Soda is saying is true. Sometimes you can ruin a good show experience by being too 'focussed' on taking pics. There was a 'no camera' rule in Niagara Falls, and while at one level I regretted not being able to take a pic of Glenn :heart:, at another level it meant I could sit back and really absorb myself in the shows. Something I don't for one minute regret.

In LA I could take pics but (I hope) I didn't overdo it. I DID take some but for quite a number of songs I just sat back and watched the Master perform!

It will be a judgement call FP as to where you are sitting, what the light is like and and even what kind of vibe you get on the nights in question.

I got my photo taken with Glenn 5 years ago today during my last trip to Pebble Beach. Oh my gosh, how time flies!

I wish I could take another one with Glenn now that I've lost weight. Still, I'm grateful that I had the opportunity at all.

I'm snowbound, with wayyyyy too much time on my hands. My hubby is an avid golfer so we've been watching the Pebble Beach Pro Am Tournament all weekend. I've always wondered why Glenn stopped playing. Did he not want to play? Did they stop asking him to play? Doubtful, right? Then I realized the Grammy Awards are today -- the 4th and final day of the tournament. So I did some checking and the dates seem to overlap and/or coincide -- or at least for 2007, 2008 and 2010. In 2009 there was a 5-day gap. Maybe the Grammys trump the green? Just an observation . . . . but I've wasted enough time on my wild goose chase/assumption. Any thoughts?

He stopped playing because he wasn't invited back after his last appearance, which was in 2008.

However, Pebble Beach gave him the chance to try out some songs which he eventually recorded for After Hours so I'm grateful for that.

Regarding the Grammys he has never attended it. Not once, to my knowledge.

Rumor has it that the Eagles said they wouldn't come to the 1977 Grammys unless they were guaranteed a win. When they were told there were no guarantees, they didn't show up.

Well, they didn't win album of the year, but they did win Record of the Year for the single "Hotel California." I wonder if they wish they had showed?

My thought was that if there had been a scheduling conflict between the Grammys and the Tournament in 2009. he may have chosen the Grammys over golfing because they were up for Pop Instrumental Performance that year. That decision may have ruffled a few golfing feathers -- hence, no more invitations to play in the tournament. It seems plausible, especially considering the fact that he had consistently played Pebble Beach in prior years. Of course I have no knowledge of the inner workings of the Pro-Am or how invitations to play are extended or rescinded. It was pure conjecture on my part. Just a little food for thought on a snowy day.

I know this is addressed to FP but I'll go ahead and answer - Glenn states in this interview (http://robertwuhlshow.com/uncategorized/full-show-1192011/) that the reason he no longer plays PB is that he wasn't invited back.

I don't know why they didn't invite him back, but considering how much Glenn was into playing and what a honor he considered the invitation to be, the likelihood is pretty small that he ever declined one - especially for an award that is not given out on-air.

That said, I have heard that invitations are often extended and rescinded for petty reasons. I don't think it was the scenario HH described, but it may have been one equally as shallow and "ruffled-feather" related for some other reason.

About Pebble Beach, I watched every Pebble Beach tournament since 1980. Mostly just to torture myself as it seemed it was always snowing here (or in PA) and it always looked beautiful there. My ex was into golf and he loved to watch it on TV, and that's how I got started watching it. Then, I got really excited when Glenn started golfing in it, and somewhere in the attic is an old Tivo that has the last two years he was in it recorded on it. I stopped watching it when he stopped playing in it. In protest. I even sent the organizers a letter explaining why I wouldn't watch it anymore. Besides Glenn not in it, the last couple years, there had been way too much coverage given to those who were making the tournament a comedy act rather than serious golfing. If that's the kind of viewers they want, then they don't want me.

Seeing these Pebble Beach photos reminded me that I saw a few bits of it on the tv this weekend and it reminded me of Glenn and his "Angels" that were there a few years ago! The hockey season had a late start this year due to squabbles about money between players and owners. In honor of the remarkable achievement of the Chicago Blackhawks not yet losing a game, I thought I'd post these pictures. They have played 19 games and gotten at least one point in each. Their record is 16-0-3.

For those who might be interested, if you win the hockey game, you get two points and a win. If you lose, you get zero points and a loss. If there is a tie, it goes to a 5 minute sudden death over time and if it's still a tie at the end of that, there's a shootout (players skate and shoot against a goalie, one-on-one). If you win the shootout, you get two points and a win. If you lose the shootout, you get one point and a tie. So, the Blackhawks have lost 3 games in a shoot-out, but still pick up a point in each one, and it's not considered a true loss.

I sent them an email and they say they will have that option soon. Which is good, because PB will force me to the new system on 3/18 and that's when I'll say 'bye-bye'.

It's no big deal. I can just crop the URL out once I've saved the photo if you decide to continue using the service.

Actually, you're not supposed to do that direct copy of URL thing - that's called "Hotlinking" and it steals other people's bandwidth. Plus, if they ever take the picture down, it is no longer here either.

I love his voice during that....he's so wasted, but sweet. His voice there reminds me so much of one of my cousins that is about his age and looked very similar during that time and was in to the hippie/pot thing.

Normally you would do them as part of your media player's function while you are playing a DVD on the computer. When you pause it that is when you can do screencaps. We currently use VLC Media Player.

PowerDVD used to have a great screenshot feature, but then they removed it at the behest of the MPAA who apparently feel threatened by screencaps, despite the fact that the courts have not determined that screencaps violate copyright. Thank goodness I got my F1 and HFO screencaps from PowerDVD before they caved to MPAA pressure and forced me to "upgrade."

The way I do it now is just pause it on a moment I like, "print screen," and then copy it into Photoshop. It's time-consuming but effective.

ITA, Soda, makes my knees as weak as he did when I was fifteen!

As for screen capture software, I do as Soda said (usually) and hit pause. Most frequently I use MWSnap, which is freeware. I also use SnagIt a lot, and it's a paid license (paid for by my company). The SnagIt allows me to watch a video and hit Print Screen and it will freeze the screen with cross-hairs and allow me to select the area I want, while the video continues to play in the background. SnagIt also allows me to add brightness and contrast, add effects and soften edges, like the ones in my sig.
