Well, like it or not, that is how he promotes himself. He obviously feels that emphasising Hotel California will mean something to more people than Road To Forever will. And being blunt, he is right.

I have said that I disagree with this approach & that it is high time that he ditched this 'a night at the Hotel California' stuff & started to show some pride in this album, which is supposed to be where he is now. But it looks like that isn't going to happen & that all he will ever do is go with the Eagles connection.

I don't really agree. Most artists, especially those making a "come back" or trying to jump start their careers after a long absence do refer back to the stuff they are most well known for, & for Felder, that would be Hotel California. I don't see anything wrong with it.

I just feel there is a lot of general dislike for Felder by some people on this board, therefore a negative view of whatever he does is taken.
I think he has every right to mention Hotel California, as well as the fact that he was a former Eagle. There isn't anything wrong with it. It's true, so Why shouldn't he?
His album didn't get a lot of promotion, so he's making the best of it. He's not looking for super stardom, just looking to bring back some of his old fans to come out to see his show!!!

Nobody said he didn't have the right to mention Hotel California or that he is a former Eagle. But he should not be hiding behind it as much now that he has a new album. He should be emphasising that first, the old days second. He has not been a member of the Eagles now for 11 years.

I'm afraid I just don't see this as 'general dislike' or 'taking a negative view of whatever he does'. People are entitled to ask why he still can't let the Eagles go especially when he has made his feelings about the band very clear.

FP, You & I are never going to agree on this topic, so I don't see the point of arguing it with you...I'm only repeating myself.
He is most well known as an Eagle...He's not "HIDING" behind it. That is what he's known for. Of course HC is more well known than his new album.

What do you really care what he does? Why does it bother you so much???.I doubt any of the Eagles really care....I just don't get it..It's like you have a personal vendetta with the guy

It is a legitimate topic of discussion & I have as much right to give my opinions as you do. I don't see it as a 'personal vendetta' at all & it doesn't 'bother' me.

That article states that Rolling Stone reviewed the album. I couldn't find any review on their website & I'm two issues behind in terms of receiving my copy.

Anyway here is a review of the album from American Songwriter:

Once again, annoying incorrect information in this article that says Felder was ousted from the Eagles in 1991.....Where do they come up with this stuff?
HFO was 1994, & he's on the DVD, so this writer obviously is clueless!:-x

I just found this out and really don't know where to put it but this will have to do.

I found out that Felder's new guitarist in his band for the new album is none other than Greg Suran - the same guy who played all of the Walsh solo shows on the AM tour... Funny how that worked out, seeing has he had Frank Simes before, who was Don Henley's guitarist. :hilarious:

The main guitar riff on Wash Away sounds a bit like the end of "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns 'N Roses - to me anyway... I'm just mentioning it 'cause it took me a while to figure out what it reminded me of. Still sounds cool, of course.

Loved that article on Don.....Thanks for posting VA
Learned a few new things about his experiences....I am hoping to see him along with Frampton. Trying to find someone to go with me...Always a difficult task, as
I hear a lot of lame excuses why people can't go. Anyone want to go with me to the Beacon Theater?

I can't believe he said in that article that he thinks Randy Jackson is the best bass player in LA. How rude! I think we all know who the best bass player in LA is...I'm kidding, I'm sure TBS isn't considered the best bassist in the world, but this comment seemed a little pointed! It probably wasn't - he's just talkin', which is fine. If Felder plays in SoCal I would go see him. I feel sorry for him, can't help it.

Seems like Don is moving on..There wasn't much mention here about the Eagles, the firing, the book, or Hotel California...There's a lot more to him than just his experience as an Eagle...I'm glad to see that he's doing new things with other musicians. I think it's all good for him.

There is going to be a release of outtakes from all Zeppelin albums & as those songs are from the first two albums that must be it. Whole Lotta Love is the 'Radio Rough' version i.e. previously unreleased.

Listening to the album for the first time, and I have to say that it sounds darn good. I've heard about seven songs so far. It bothers some people that Don isn't "proving his chops" on the guitar too much, but I respect this - he seems to think more about the songs than about himself as a player.

Not everything has blown my mind so far, but overall it seems to be a very strong album. I find it slightly funny that the first song reminds me of a song of Glenn's. The "That sweet taste of love keeps..." bit reminds me of "We were left with no choice but to stand up and fight for this land" in Brave New World. So the songs go to the chorus in a similar way.

The only thing that bothers me is that it sounds like there's some kind of an effect (Autotune?) in Don's voice in some songs, and it gets tiring. Or maybe I'm just hearing things...
