Okay, just pulled up the link...no video yet but the audio is coming thru of the crowd filling in. This should be interesting since the student concert this evening is suppose to be music of the honorees. Will be interesting to hear how it translates -- and maybe see some reaction of the guys (hopefully). Too bad Ben isn't still attending Berklee!

OKAY, it's showtime. They're opening with clips of honorees from previous years performing with students. WILL THEY OR WON'T THEY???????????

I saw Cindy in the audience sitting behind Glenn. I couldn't see if there were any of the other wives there. I just noticed Cindy because Glen turned aroud & it looked like he was saying something to her. Nice video presentations of the careers of each of them individually & then as a group.

Okay, let's not go into fashion panic mode here, gals. Remember, this IS a graduation, after all. I'm sure the suits are simply a formality -- they're showing their good manners.

I didn't see Cindy right away...but then I caught her. Marjorie was sitting to Joe's right and Jean was to Tim's left. What struck me was WHERE they were sitting...in the middle of the audience!

They went on stage for the final bows but no performance....bummer .

The students did the following set list (for those who didn't see it):
Take It Easy
ICTYW
Funk #49 (Joe bio)
Keep On Tryin' (Timothy bio)
Heart of the Matter (Don bio)
The Heat Is On (Glenn bio)
Desperado
Hotel California (that girl was smokin'!)
Heartache Tonight (those kids rocked the stage with this one)

My brother called while I was watching. He'd just gotten off the phone with his friend, Mike, who wanted to get a message to me...he's fixing dinner for the guys in a little while. (Mike is a chef at the Four Seasons in Boston!) I told my brother to make danged sure he talks to Mike and finds out what was on the menu! What I wouldn't give to be bussing tables there tonight! (I knew Mike in high school @#*& years ago...and he knows I am a die-hard, over-the-top Eagles fan...I could kiss him!)

VAisForEagleLovers
05-11-2012, 09:46 PM
I was very surprised they were in the middle of the audience as well.

So your friend is fixing dinner in a little while? At nearly 10pm? Good grief.

10 p.m. dinner isn't unusual in Boston, especially if you're in the suites at the Four Seasons! My point wasn't so much about dinner as it was that we know where they're staying (for anyone who happens to be in the neighborhood). I'm going to call my brother back and tell him to give Mike my phone number...hopefully he'll have time to call me later tonight or tomorrow.

Here's the link to watch it: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/berklee-commencement

Their portion begins at 1:23:45, but it's kind of fun to watch them walk in and the portion where their wives are introducted -- Glenn's and Joe's were in attendance.

Don spoke briefly and said:

"I have been elected to speak, for which I am totally unprepared. Sometimes I worry about the future of music and culture in general, but after what I witnessed here last night, what we all witnessed here last night, I have renewed hope and faith in the future of music. It was truly inspiring. That's it really. It's an honor to be on stage with the other recipients and we thank you for this great honor. Thank you so much."

timfan
05-12-2012, 01:43 PM
I'd say those words are inspiring! As I believe was mentioned earlier the students who performed must be overjoyed to get such words of support and encouragement from the Eagles!

If you scroll down to earlier posts in this thread, you'll find a missive that tell you the timeframe of Commencement when the guys received their diplomas. It was also fun watching them march in at the beginning -- altho with nearly 900 students it was a l-o-n-g procession!

One of the Boston papers, I think the Herald, has a brief clip on Sunday. I haven't check since then. I was surprised not to see something in the Globe. The other primary publication in the Boston area, The Phoenix, is geared more toward entertainment news but I believe it's a weekly publication rather than daily. They may have something on their site this week.

Yes, it's that time of year, again, isn't it? It's time for graduation ceremonies with professors in full regalia in attendance. In the spirit of wishing you well and being concerned with your comfort, I hope your college holds their graduation ceremony indoors. My college held (holds) theirs out in the football stadium with Midwestern winds howling.
So fun. :unimpressed:
