Thanks for putting the video clip of this up on DHOL, too. I really enjoyed it! I'm not familiar with Jools but he seems to be a rather humourless character. He was nice enough, but he didn't laugh or even really react to any of Don's comments. :? Loved it when they watched the old clip of Witchy Woman. I was thinking, "That song is really dragging...." and then Don said "We play it faster now!" :wink:

Whoa! I just spent - well, waaaaay too much time - looking at all 50+ pages of Don pics and I'm both exhilarated and exhausted. Holy crap, there are some wonderful pictures here! Since there are so many, I can't comment on all of them, but I have to say that I think I'm an anomaly here. I don't like his 'fro (say "no" to the 'fro, bro!) and I loooove him in his plaid shirts. I especially like him, though, in HFO. He is one fine-looking man. I love that cleft chin of his! And while I'm not a fan of his 70's facial hair, I do like him with a little stubble. Well, after viewing the DVD, Eagles: Desperado, the other day, I think I have to amend my above quote. While the still photos of Don with his 'fro and heavy facial hair previously did nothing for me, the video clips of him on this DVD (from the early to mid-70's) pretty much left me breathless! I've realized that he could be wearing a rainbow wig and flowered dress for all I care, but as long as I can see his eyes, hear him sing and watch him play the drums, I'd be a happy, happy woman. So, to those of you who like his very hairy 70's look, I'm beginning to see your point! :smitten:

Katherine, I understand how you feel. Previously, I didn't care much for Glenn's :heart: long-haired look with that long moustache (and he was pretty skinny in those days too :shock: ), but I just love the man so much, that I really don't care how long his hair or moustache was, I just love to watch him sing. His passion for his craft just gets to me. As for Don, I don't mind the 'fro much. The curls are cute...

For me, Don's hottest era is the OOTN era, where he has the 'fro and the facial hair, but the 'fro isn't out of control yet as it kind of gets later. I also think the 'fro minus the facial hair doesn't look as good.

Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of the glasses either for the same reason you mentioned. It wouldn't have been bad if he had removed them at some point in the concert, but don't deny us those blue eyes for the whole show!

Thanks for the info about Richard Bowden. I'll have to check that out next time I watch it. And for the record - not that anyone cares - I like that version of HC. Not as well as the original or the HFO version, but it was an interesting take on it.

It’s not that I don’t love watching him on drums, too, but there is just something about seeing him, standing out front & center, strumming the guitar. Don really plays the guitar on these new songs too—he has used a guitar as a prop in some of his songs, but he is really playing now, and I just love watching him.

(I had a boyfriend in high school who played guitar and sang to me, so that might factor in this a little.)

That's why the "key-tar" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keytar) was invented - so keyboardists could get some more women. ;) Traditionally it goes that way for the drummer too - I remember on Wiseguy Glenn's character told a joke about how the great thing about being in a band is that you get all the women you want... unless you're the drummer. Then you go home alone. Naturally, unable to develope a drum-tar, the drummer must get himself a guitar in order to display himself for the ladies, lol, unless he wants to break out the cowbell! (However, Mick Fleetwood did devise a "percussive vest" to wear so that he could "drum" center stage. He looked absolutely ridiculous.)

Lucky for Don, that sexy voice would make him memorable even if he never left his kit!

I've got another screen shot of him around the same time period that I like a lot, too. It was taken when he was a guest star on Whoopi Goldberg's short-lived talk show--she was flirting with him big time, and he has a very similar expression on his face. You could tell he was enjoying it.

I LOVE Don's look in 1975 - very edgy and masculine. The fro is not yet out-of-control and the facial hair really makes it work (fro without facial hair IMHO is not nearly as hot - gotta balance it). There are no bad photos of him from that era, IMHO. I do think the best one technically is the one that's already been posted, but this one from the same session is right there behind it!

This HFO screenshot is the closest thing I could find to the moment I wanted. What I really wanted here though is a picture of Don's face. This represents one of my all time favorite Don moments. On the DVD, it is that moment during Hotel California where Don glances over at Glenn. I just love it because it is one of the most vulnerable expressions I've ever seen on Don's face.
