Quoting Freypower:
This might make an interesting new topic; who would you see solo, why & why not. It may ruffle some feathers but that's what this board is about!

I thought this was a great idea Fp and hope you don't mind me starting it for you.

I would absolutely love to see all of the guys in a solo show. I have seen Don Henley and loved every minute of it. I would go back in a heartbeat if given the chance.

My problem is money. I live in a remote area. It's a 2 and 1/2 hour drive to St. Louis for me. It seems they usually come around during the week which means taking off 2 days to go and a hotel room. I just can't afford to do that. I could try going and coming home all the same night, but that just isn't that fun! Hubby never wants me to go by myself, it costs more for two to go, and none of my friends understand my Eagles obsession at all. Flying around to see them is even more impossible. Next year if they do their Anniversary tour, we plan on seeing them. But probably just once unless there would be a few months between shows.

Anyone else?

Obviously, I'll go see any of them solo, but Glenn is the only one I'll travel for. And apparently even that has its limits as I didn't go to LA in May. I'm lucky to live in the DC area, although I'm not impressed with DC concert goers at any venue I've been to here recently. There's a big amphitheater (Jiffy Lube Live) less than ten miles from my house. If you can believe it, I've never been there!

I've not seen any of them solo until this summer. Don was here a few years ago, as close as Fairfax, but I was in the midst of major home improvement work and didn't have the money. I'd never given much thought to seeing Timothy or Joe solo before joining this board, but I'd been trying to go see Glenn solo for a long long time and it never worked out.

Well I think it's obvious that I would try to go pretty much anywhere accessible to see Glenn  perform! Like you Brooke, money is obviously a factor. Any more than one trip per year Stateside would be pushing it really! And the rigidity of a school timetable at work also limits me big time.
I have no problem with travelling alone, but it WAS nice to be able to meet up with other Borderers at the different destinations, it really added to the whole experience!

That said, I DO live in a Capital city with a good few venues and is any of the boys came over to do a solo show I would definitely go! And I wouldn't be adverse to flying to the UK either.

You know, it amazes me how so many people dont 'get it' that I would travel to see a singer/ band that I am a huge fan of, yet they would travel to the UK or further to see their favourite football team play (lads at work take note here). Surely it's the same thing really.... Isn't it?

In short
Glenn  - anywhere!
Don, Joe, Timothy - definitely if they played in Ireland, possibly UK.

Another thing I would do would be if I was planning to go to the States anyway and any of the guys were playing solo I would try to factor that into my itinerary.

I have seen Don Henley a couple of times solo, and once with Stevie Nicks. I think if the opportunity presented itself I wouldn't object to seeing the other guys solo, but Don I would go out of my way for.

I would someday like to say that I've seen all of them solo...two down, two to go...they are each so uniquely talented and would I'm sure put on a great show...I'd probably have to travel to see Don...he doesn't seem to tour much and probably would never come to Buffalo, but you never know..Glenn has been close so hopefully I can see him someday without having to go too far...but I would travel to see him at least once...just saw Joe so probably wouldn't travel to see him, but would go in a heartbeat if he was close again...then we come to sweet Timothy B...I would follow him around the country if I could!...He has so much more to offer than we see in an Eagles show...even I (who already loved him) was so impressed by his show...just love him even more now that's all!...I know I gush...sorry!
I can't imagine any of us not wanting to see each of them solo...it's just a matter of how much we would put ourselves out to do it..

Ok... I am blessed.
My hubby kinda gets my obsession.

The first time , we had the oppertunity to see DOn Henley at the Borgata in Atlantic City. This was back before LROOE was released. He toured with Will HOllis, Scott Crago,Michael Thompson and STewart Smith. SO as Jahh said, "Its the Eagles minus Glenn Fry and TBS".

THen having never seen them in concert, JAhh made my dreams come true and took me to see them in Phila. We got tickets on a tues nite then found out that they were playing at the Borgata on thurs nite(same week) so we did both concerts. I had great seats one in 7th row center and one in 5th row and TBS threw his guitar pick right to me. Then we got tickets again right before the THanksgiving holiday and saw them again.
I waited my whole life to see them and then I saw them three times in one year.(That was our vacation that year lol)

LAst year for our anniversary, I got fab tickets for Joe walsh w BB KIng.They were both awsome. THat was the first time we met soda and hh and other border friends.Kinda made for a fun night.
'
Then, this year, I was driving to work and heard an iterview with Glenn Fry on the local radio station talking about the concert at the new Sands center in Bethelam. I called JAHH who by the time I gott to work said. HAppy Birthday . What a save I didnt know what to get you. I said...Oh honey doesnt every gal want Glenn with a big red bow around him??
And to make it more fun ...more dessert and drinks with other Boarder members after the show.

So that being three down...the fourth came the folllowing week after Glenns show by way of the Keswick theather with TBS> What an awsome show. The shame was the theaer was only 1/4 full and the tix were so cheap.($90.oo for two and we were right up front) That was a great show. TBS is so under rated. He is so humble and has so much talent.... just great.

So as I have said I am very blessed I have seen them all in concert solo and would do it all again in a heart beat. Poor JAHH....I would love to see them solo again. THey are all so talented and have such unique talents that they bring to the stage.

So to sum up.....some people travel and some people drive fancy cars. For me, I would rather have a great eveining out with JAHH and see a great show. MAterial things are nice but for me it always is the memorie of spending time with my hubby and seeing music we both love to listen to on cd performed live. ANd lets face it ...our guys never dissapoint...not on any show I have been too.

SO, I have travled and yes I would. Guess it all depends on how much JAhh will go along with.lol

PS> i have a friend who said "Hey I can go with you to Revel, tell JAHH to stay home".. not a chance.

Joe would be #1 for me. But I'd also go see Glenn and Don too or best yet - Joe and Glenn on "Party Of Two". I'm just not that familiar or "into" Timothy's solo stuff (love his Eagles songs though) to go. My favorite Eagle solo material is from Joe and Don and so those would probably get the highest votes from me but POT with Glenn and Joe would be great as they do lots of Eagles songs.

I guess I'd go in this order - Joe, Don, Glenn, Tim.

TT, just quickly, Glenn's surname is spelt 'Frey'.

What I said in the other thread still stands. It would not be worthwhile for these guys to tour Australia as solo artists. If Glenn does do this, I am still wondering why (but I'm not going to complain).

I stand by what I said about Don's show. I don't think songs like End Of The Innocence or Everything Is Different Now or I Will Not Go Quietly are so breathtakingly wonderful that I need to see them performed live. As I always make clear I prefer to see Don playing drums for at least part of the show. In the unlikely event that he did come here, though, I think I would have to go.

I like the Expando songs so much that I am sure I would enjoy Tim's show; as for Joe although I have problems with his current setlist I would like to see Welcome To The Club & Turn To Stone.

I've already seen Joe, and he was already on my list of Eagles to see solo! :nahnah: Above all, I'd love the most to see Don solo, and I think Joe would come after Don, and Tim/Glenn tie for third place. If any of them are ever close enough to me, though, I'll do anything to try and see them!

Living in New Zealand makes it a little difficult. Travel anywhere is really expensive, and if hubby comes too then we have to look at kennels/cattery and organising grandparents to look after the children.

I think we're all constrained by money to a certain extent, but also travel time and logistics.

But - if they came down this way at all - east coast of Australia, possibly Singapore as flights are cheaper there now - then I would definitely try to go. TT is right - material things are all well and good but memories are priceless. (Bills? heck, there'll always be plenty of those. They can just get pushed back a bit!).

Oh, and if any of them actually came to New Zealand, I'd be going for front row seats. My justification being "but darling, I didn't have to pay for airfares, accommodation, kennels etc". :hilarious:

Okay - as most folks here know, I have seen all four current Eagles solo and I thoroughly enjoyed each and every show I've attended. I have had to travel to all of these shows, but that doesn’t bother me because I love to travel. I'll weigh in on each ...

Don - Oddly enough, I've only seen Don once in Norfolk, VA. I was also supposed to see him one other time in Atlantic City, but I was unable to make that show. However, I have not given up hope that I will get to see him again. If necessary, I’ll travel again to see Don.

Well, FP, you are certainly entitled to your opinion, but I'll just say that Don puts on a great show. IMHO, many of the songs he performs such as The End of the Innocence, The Last Worthless Evening, New York Minute, and The Heart of the Matter, as well as his other big hits, are “breathtakingly wonderful” and it boggles my mind that any fan would be disappointed to see these songs performed live. You also get an opportunity to see a side of Don’s personality in his solo shows that you don’t see in Eagles shows. I would highly recommend a Don solo show to any Eagles fan.

Tim – I’ve traveled to see Tim solo twice – once to New York’s The Bitter End and most recently to D.C. This is something I never thought would happen, so I considered it a ‘must see’ when Tim announced his first Expando tour. Again, it was special to see Tim up front and center, and I am so glad I went to these shows. I will definitely go see him again if he comes anywhere within a few hours of me. Honestly though, I hope if Tim were to tour again after this year that he will change the setlist some. If he would like any suggestions, he could always visit the threads for the Survivor games we’ve played and read some of our comments.

Joe – I’ve seen Joe four times … in Atlantic City twice, recently in Vienna, VA, and in Aspen with Glenn for a Party of Two show. What can I say – he is awesome, of course. He is a consummate entertainer, and such a talented musician. One of the things I noticed when I saw him a couple of weeks ago is that his voice seemed as strong as ever. When he did sang his parts in the Levon Helm tribute, I Shall Be Released , his voice was as powerful as I’ve ever heard. And yep, as with the others … I’ll go see him anytime he comes within a few hours of me.

Glenn – last, but certainly not least, let’s just say I’ve seen quite a few Glenn solo shows since 2005, and will continue to go see any future shows as long as I’m able. I’d have to go back through all the threads to get an exact count, but the next one coming up is in November. Yes – I adore this man, and, I never tire seeing his mesmerizing, charismatic live performances. Since I am here in the states, I don’t have any need to travel overseas to see him, but I would if I couldn’t see him on this continent. Even though I have said I am not jazzed with the After Hours Tour setlist, I’m so hardcore that I still enjoy it enough to go to multiple shows. I’ve yet to be disappointed by one of his entertaining performances.

I'm sorry Dreamer. Perhaps I am no longer as 'hardcore' about three of the Eagles' solo material as you are. I didn't say I would be 'disapppointed' to see those songs live (I saw HOTM with the Eagles) but I'm afraid that neither would it be a particularly big deal for me to see them. I am sorry if that is too honest. I am sure that Don does a good show; it just doesn't necessarily appeal to me, but this is the last time I will ever say so.

Wow, FP -did somebody pee on your Corn Flakes this morning? Now, don't get too upset - I'm only joking. But seriously, you are free to express your opinion as many times as you want and you don't need to apologize. But, as always, if you write something here on the board, someone else has the right to respond to your comments and either agree or disagree with you. I thought your comments were a little inflammatory and was just trying to present the other side. That's all I was doing. No need for us to get our panties all in a bunch over this.

OK---This is EXACTLY what I was going to type for this thread!!! I would love to see any of the Eagles solo shows but it just would be to difficult and expensive and hubby isn't that interested (especially if has to waste vacation time to do it) and he has a hard time sitting or standing anymore for long periods of time because of his back problems and no one else gets the whole Eagles thing either.

Very thankful that I got to see Timothy when he did his first mini tour as he was releasing Expando. Like I've said many times, that was a dream come true and still seems so surreal to me. And the price and where I was standing.... it couldn't have been any better for me. On top of that, the way I found out (by waking up just hours before the tickets went on sale to an email from Timothy's assistant informing me he would be that close to me and also a message from Soda) and how it all came together in just about a weeks time with absolutely no time to really get use to the fact it was happening.

But let's say I have all kinds of concert money at my disposal and all the time in the world with no work obligation, which Eagle would I love to see the most other than Timothy.... DON without a doubt. He is one of my top 5 vocalist and I would love to see him. Followed by Joe then Glenn (sorry Glenn fans).

Don was the first Eagles member I ever saw solo (I even saw him before I saw the Eagles as a band!) Obviously he is my number one and I would definitely travel to the States to see him again. I love getting to hear songs like The Last Worthless Evening, The Heart Of The Matter and The End Of The Innocence. He is usually much more relaxed, informal and chatty at a solo show and it is a very different experience to an Eagles concert.

I am very lucky to have also seen both Joe and Tim solo. I would happily go again (certainly if they were playing within a couple of hours of me) but I probably wouldn't travel across the world solely to see them. Not because it wouldn't be worth it - just because I have seen them and I don't have quite the same strong feelings for these guys as I do for Mr. Henley!

I will admit, I would really love to see Glenn solo. If I had the means, I would consider travelling to the States to see him. I love a lot of his solo songs and he is my second favourite Eagle - I love watching him on stage, too. He is generally a bit more open and interactive than Don, which I enjoy. I would love to hear songs like The One You Love live.

I'd see any of them if they came close enough at a time when I didn't have other things happening. Until this year, the only one I had seen solo was Don. I saw him twice - once on Boston Common for the Building the Perfect Beast tour (1985, I think), and again in 1990, in Worcester, MA at the Walden Woods show where he brought out Glenn and Timothy. I'd see him again if the location, cost and timing were right.

I saw Joe for the first time last fall in NJ and just recently on my home turf in Hampton Beach, NH. Had I known he was coming to NH a year later, I probably would not have traveled to NJ (it was a 6-hour trip), but then again, if I hadn't, I would not have seen him play with Levon Helm.

I could have seen Glenn back in the 80s, but I wasn't into his solo stuff then. Now that it's grown on me, I'd definitely see him again. The CT show back in May was awesome.

I'm anxiously awaiting another Timothy tour. I've never seen him solo and having heard the raves, I'm really excited about seeing a show. He did one in CT on his last tour, but it was the night of my daughter's high school graduation. Darn those priorities!

For all the guys, I'd be unlikely to fly or go more than a day's drive for a solo show, so that limits me to New England or eastern NY or NJ. I'd also be unlikely to go to more than one show per tour simply due to the expense. However, I've discovered that these shows provide a nice opportunity for road trips with my husband. For both Joe's NJ date and Glenn's CT date, we combined the show with other sightseeing stops and made little romantic getaways out of them.

I have seen solo shows of all the guys, but some not so recently.

I have seen Don solo 3 times & I think he's amazing solo. I particularly loved NY Minute, End of the Innocence. & Heart of the Matter, well the whole show was pretty awesome! I would see him again in a NY minute..

Glenn, I have only seen once during the 80's. I do recall that I enjoyed it. I passed on his show this year because After Hours is just not my thing, but I would consider seeing him again.

I have only seen Joe this past month. It was a private show that was through the radio station & it was a promo show for his new cd. I have to say that Joe really blew me away. I knew I would like it, but he was better than I expected. That was the only show he did that was near me & I was lucky to get to see it & for free too! I would see him again, but I wish I had seen him back in the day.

Ahhh, now for Timothy. I have been waiting for Timothy to come back to NY because unfortunately I missed his first Expando tour. Well, I had my chance to see him at BB Kings in May & I was so thrilled to see him out there on his own. I had seen him many times in Poco & I have been crushing on him since I was 16. I had always thought of Timothy as a "band guy" but seeing him solo was amazing. His voice is just so beautiful, he just blows me away! I would absolutely see him again. Who knows when he will tour again because he doesn't tour as much as the others.

Living in NYC, I usually don't have to travel to see anybody, but I have. I don't really love to travel the way I used to, but I maybe would do it to see a Timothy show...Not really sure I would travel for others solo shows....maybe for an Eagles show.

I've seen Don's solo show 5 times in the US and would definitely go again, because I like to hear him sing other people's songs in addition to his own. Last year he did a great set - songs by new songwriters and older ones too - and lots of different styles('sometimes I get tired of doing country rock' - Don Henley)

I'd go to see Glenn, Joe and Timothy if they came to the UK. I've haven't seen any of them solo so I'd give them all an equal chance to impress me!

Glenn would be the ultimate Eagle I would love to see solo. He has more of an impact on me 'cause he was the first Eagle I ever listened to when I was younger. Glenn's voice is perfect and wonderful. I would do (and give) anything to see that man in concert!!!!!!!! Not to stir anyone up over here, but he is the best Eagle in my eyes. The man who has my heart then and deffinitly now. He can play any song he wants at the concert too. I am under your spell Glenn.

I've seen both Dons and Timothy and I would see them all again. I'd love to see Glenn but as we know that will never happen :weep: I almost saw Joe this summer but had to cancel last minute because of a conflict so I'd love to see Joe. Overall even though I just saw him twice less than a week ago I would have to choose Tim. I'm not sure why but I've always just felt a connection with him since the first time I listened to the Eagles. He puts on a phenomenal show too!
