Just saw Fleetwood Mac on LI last night Wonderful show! We had pretty good seats. I have to say that Stevie needs to change her outfit! OMG!!
She is STILL wearing the same exact outfit for like 2 years at least already!
Come on Stevie, you were a fashionista!!

I even dressed the part, with a long lacy top, velvet cape & lots of crystal necklaces!!! No hat though, just a jeweled headband..! LOL
She also looked heavy to me! She needs to lose like 25 pounds. Christine looked fabulous & LINDSAY OMG! He looks great & his guitar playing was Beyond AMAZING!!!
Overall, wonderful show, go see them, if you can!

Glad you had a good time!

I don't think Stevie wears very flattering clothes and I don't know why she keeps wearing all those layers onstage. She looks slimmer in pants:

Lindsey still has it, doesn't he? So does Christine, of course - they all do!

Loved the article and I, too, thought it was strange they did the cover shot of just her since FM is touring. It was about her and them though.

Love that pic of her Soda! And I agree it's much more flattering than her stage outfits.

I remembered watching a clip of her and Don singing Hotel California and she was wearing pants. I was shocked because its rare to see her in pants. Heck any color then black. I like that picture of her.

I was watching a special on AXSTV. I forgot what it was called and Stevie was on there. It was from 2011. It was a special about bikers and Veterans. So Jeff Bridges and Stevie were singing at the special concert. Stevie sung three songs. Landslide, For What It's Worth and Solider's Angel. So before Solider's Angel came on, it all of a sudden got very windy. Stevie's mike fell and her hair was flying everywhere. I don't think the drummer was able to fully play because of the wind. Anyway. I don't know if the concert edited for tv, but I was like she only sang three songs while Jeff sung a whole hour.

Love that picture, Soda! I do like some of her clothes, but one costume change during the concert might be fun for the fans. I thought the double breasted coat and pants she wore during the Today show outdoor concert near the kick-off of the tour was fabulous, and so flattering. I think she looks great for 66, even though she is a few pounds heavier than in the old (cocaine) days. She is an idol of mine partly for that reason, oh, and the unbelievable talent! I think women become invisible in our 50's and 60's, and Stevie is not only still relevant (not invisible!), but still rocking!

All of Fleetwood Mac have still got it!

We got a costume change when I saw FM in 2009, from black to red! When I saw her solo though, she stayed in black the whole time.

There's a new Stevie bio coming out. It sounds really trashy - not worthy of the high priestess of rock, IMO - but there is Henley and Joe Walsh content: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2941749/Stevie-Nicks-1million-cocaine-habit-fueled-wild-affair-married-Mick-Fleetwood-burned-hole-nose-big-took-drug-private-parts-reveals-new-book.html

UGH. Just in that excerpt I see several inaccuracies and rumours misrepresented as fact. Sadly, many people will believe the article and the book it is derived from, not realizing that it's just disgusting sensationalism by an author who's never even MET Stevie.

That is a really trashy article. It is sad that people can put out false information to sell books. It would be great if Stevie wrote her own book, but I think she has said it would not be a tell-all book (I am not sure where I read that, tho).

Stevie performed last night during the curtain call of the Broadway musical "School of Rock" and it's great!!! :D They performed "Rhiannon" and I'm so impressed with these kids, especially the guitar solo. She even jokes at the end she felt at times she was performing with Fleetwood Mac.

I loved the movie the musical is based off of and as a teen back then I wished we had a class like this.

Stevie Nicks is going on tour. Pre-sale is on Sept. 7 and then it goes on sale Sept. 12. I wish I could go, but her SJ show is on Dec. 14, which is right in the middle of finals week. Even though Sacramento is the day before, it's the night before I have 2 final exams. If I'm not a borderline A- by the time finals come along, then it's possible.

Stevie in the New York Times today: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/09/06/arts/music/stevie-nicks-tour-interview.html?_r=0

Perhaps I'm reading too much into it, but it sounds like she might be on the outs with, or at least nursing a grudge against, her FM cohorts. Rumor has it that she still is not contributing any new songs to the new FM album, which her three bandmates have been working on for some time now.

I enjoyed that little interview, such as it was. Thanks, NMB- she never disappoints, does she? Love that Stevie, whatever's going on.
It made me feel like popping over to YouTube and listening to a few tracks. The "Don't Stop" video that I chose included the USC Trojans marching band that usually plays on "Tusk." It was great, of course!

I'm not sure about the reports concerning her engagement with FM. It was Stevie who worked hard to keep a line open to Christine. E.g. buying all her keyboards so that she could return them if Christine changed her mind. I'm hoping that they will work things out and there will be a new album.

NightMistBlue
09-07-2016, 08:56 AM
Oh my, I didn't know about the keyboards. Christine must have decided to completely walk away from music, not just the business.

In Mick Fleetwood's book, though he is careful in what he says, there is more than a suggestion that Christine was very troubled (depressed and possibly agoraphobic) in the 14 years or so that she was retired. She's such a wonderful lady, I really admire her.

I want Stevie back recording with the Mac, but I'll take what I can get. I'll be going to the Atlanta show. It's on Glenn's birthday, but it's the only one that's feasible for me. Almost all my friends are going to other shows, and they're all doing VIP. I hate living in the South and I hate that I can't afford the VIP. Feeling a little sorry for myself tonight.

NightMistBlue
09-15-2016, 12:39 PM
Soda (or anyone else who may know), forgive the dumb question but I'm not experienced at doing the VIP thing. How do you know what each level will get you? I looked on the Ticketmaster site - which tells you the price of each level but not what you get apart from a seat in a range of rows. It doesn't tell you which if any have meet 'n greet.

Stevie Nicks site takes you straight back to the Ticketmaster site when you click on the various packages. https://www.stevienicksofficial.com/vip

Ticketmaster should have the levels spelled out. There will be no meet'n'greet. I believe that Gold is Rows 1-5, Silver is Rows 6-10, and Premium is Rows 11-20. I bought a "Silver" ticket. I wish I could get a Gold but without a meet'n'greet or even a dinner... I can't justify the cost. It's just the seat and a couple SN goodies like a tote bag.

Oh, and I saw her on AGT. She was lovely although the song choice was rather predictable!

Thank you, Nancy. I hope you enjoy the Stevie show next month. Maybe she'll mention Glenn. I hope so.

I screwed up somehow when I purchased my Brian Wilson VIP ticket. I thought I was getting a picture with the Great Man, but I "only" got to attend the sound check and collect some swag. However, I sat in the front row center at the sound check and Brian smiled at me so I was thrilled. Brian! Smiled! At me! Sorry. I revert to being a 9-year old Beach Boys super fan when I think of it.

Thanks, Houston Baby.

Have a wonderful time at the Stevie show. I sometimes (OK, frequently) feel guilty about spending money on "non-essentials" like concerts and instruments, even though music is vitally important to me. Still, the regret of missed concerts is even worse! I could have kicked myself daily for years that I didn't go to a Page + Plant show back in the day. And I hate that I never got to see Randy Meisner play live. So go and enjoy!

Coming back to work from a meeting today I was listening to The Bridge station on Sirius and Stevie came on telling about Don Henley joining her on stage for four songs during a show and then she repaid him by joining him on stage during a show and she got to sing on Hotel California with him. She sang the 'pink champagne on ice' part. She thought her part was very dramatic and she loved it.

I had no idea that Stevie was releasing deluxe versions of Bella Donna and The Wild Heart. They come out on November 4th. I haven't gotten around to The Wild Heart, but I did enjoy Bella Donna. Amazon links:

Bella Donna (3-disc deluxe): https://www.amazon.com/Bella-Donna-Deluxe-Stevie-Nicks/dp/B01LTHO0MG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1476335497&sr=8-1&keywords=bella+donna+deluxe

The Wild Heart (2-disc deluxe): https://www.amazon.com/Wild-Heart-Deluxe-2CD/dp/B01LTHO0LW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1476335497&sr=8-2&keywords=bella+donna+deluxe

$30 and $20 each are a bit expensive for me respectively for these albums, but it doesn't sound that bad. I'll probably at least buy the alternative version to Leather and Lace as well as the live version if it includes Don. I wonder if the alternative version for Leather and Lace will sound similar to the one posted on donhenleyonline.com? They'll probably clean it up and use whatever techniques they use to make it sound better compared to a demo, since it sounded like they did that for the early version of Book of Love on Mirage. I've listened to an outtake/early version of Mirage somewhere, and Book of Love sounded way quiet, esp. the vocals, and it wasn't in the best shape. Also, Edge of Seventeen (Early Take) may be another purchase.

Chrissie sang most of Tom Petty's part with Waddy doing a couple of lines.

Before she sang L&L Stevie told the story how she wrote the song & who she was dating at that time & the fact that even though he lived in Texas he was NOT there so she would sing the song with her girls. I love how Stevie tells the whole story. And I would have burst into tears if Don had walked out on the stage.

Stevie and her 2 female backup singers.

When Stevie told the story of how she wrote the song for Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter, then asked for the song back because they broke up, she asked Don when & if she recorded it, would he sing it with her? She continued - "in Don's typical Don Henley way he answered (Stevie's deeper voice) 'of course I will'.
I love to hear Stevie tell her stories. She would be so terrific for a Runaway Tour!

Nice article (more of a concert review, really) from the L.A. Times, Dec 19th:

The writer says FM are "on a break" - that's not what everyone else says.

Yes. Its the MusiCares gala that happens a few days before the Grammys. They usually paid tribute to that year's honoree during the live show. Lionel Richie was last year's honoree and they paid tribute to him during the live show.

Don was a honoree back in 2007. His 10th year Anniversary of being honored was this past Thursday.

It looks like she kicked them off once she got on stage because she was wearing signature platform boots. I'm guessing she had on either leggings or pants in the picture where she's on stage or in the picture with Don and George. I can't really tell, but it looks like she's not wearing a skirt.

Interesting stuff from Ms. Nicks from an interview earlier today.

Do you want to make a new record with [Fleetwood Mac]?
I don't think we'll do another record. If the music business were different, I might feel different. I don't think there's any reason to spend a year and an amazing amount of money on a record that, even if it has great things, isn't going to sell. What we do is go on the road, do a ton of shows and make lots of money. We have a lot of fun. Making a record isn't all that much fun.

Stevie was amazing last night!!! :D I love how she did this tour like "VH1 Storytellers" and told stories about all of the songs. She looked and sounded amazing and actually addressed those articles recently about Fleetwood Mac and not recording as well as possibly the Classic East/West festival. She said they aren't breaking up. It's just that she didn't want to record a new album but they will be doing shows soon and everyone cheered. :) She also even talked a bit about the Tom Petty Musicares event, reuniting with old friends, and said Dave Ghrol helped her find her new touring drummer as the one she was with back in the fall rejoined his normal band. I also loved she told the whole story behind "Stand Back" with Prince. I cracked up too at how she was shocked Prince's speaking voice was so much lower than his singing voice a that always threw me off too. LOL She also dedicated "Edge of 17" to him too as pictures of him was behind her, and she said she feels him a lot now and feels he's on stage with her a lot too now, especially during "Stand Back". Even mentioned she talks not only to him but other friends that have passed on too which made me think of Glenn and others.

The Pretenders were amazing too and Chrissie sounds exactly the same. I've always loved their songs too and with her being an Ohioan too they had a great reception. Loved her singing "Stop Dragging my Heart Around" with Stevie too.

The parents had a great time too and loved how Stevie also compared it to all of us hanging out in her living room and singing. :D It did have a feel like that.

Please excuse the formatting of this as I copied it from a setlist website which links to videos.

It was a great show; overall, however, I honestly thought the solo songs were better than the Fleetwood Mac songs. I thought she was very brave to do so many. For me the highlights of the new songs were Soldier's Angel, which I think may be her best song since Edge Of Seventeen, and Ghosts Are Gone. She was funny & self-deprecating when she talked about how she 'hung out' with Edgar Allen Poe & told him she would write Annabel Lee. She said that the inspiration for Moonlight (A Vampire's Dream) arose the last time she was in Australia & she credited Australia for giving her the inspiration to resume her solo career.

It was weird that she started with Stand Back, which I now associate with Lindsey Buckingham, because when I saw Fleetwood Mac he played the entire song to me. Dreams was somewhat perfunctory. The arrangement for Rhiannon was longer than the Mac version & some of the lyrics were different ('will you even try'). Gold Dust Woman & Landslide were superb.

I managed to get closer to the front for Edge Of Seventeen (my seat was actually in Row 17) but sadly, eagerly as I had anticipated it, it fell somewhat flat. I think I know the studio version too well. I didn't know the last song, Love Is, at all  but I enjoyed it.

Stevie's voice was wonderful & she was in a great mood. She had three costume changes, first a red dress, then black, then white, with the occasional shawl & top hat. It was weird to see Waddy Wachtel, who I saw with Joe back in 1986, and it was also good to see Lori & Sharon, her backing singers. Dave Stewart played on the occasional song.

As for Leather & Lace with her vocal coach, it was OK, but I have to admit here that I am not a huge fan of the song. I know I should be but there you are. I was actually surprised there weren't a couple more songs from earlier albums like Talk To Me or Rooms On Fire. I was even more surprised there was no Sara (but again, this is not one of my favourites). No Gypsy, either.

Sadly the night was somewhat marred by a fight directly in front of me between two men who had been verballing each other. This was at the start of For What It's Worth. Even though they were ejected they both returned later. Also I noticed quite a few gay men. Stevie has become a gay icon, it seems, in Sydney at least!

For interest, here is my review of the 2011 show. Interesting! I think tonight's show, with the Pretenders, will probably have more of a Greatest Hits feel. I love the In Your Dreams album & hope she does at least a couple of those songs.

It's going to be a long afternoon/evening. I have to get a train at 3.30 pm because I have to get to Darling Harbour by 5.15 for the hospitailty 'event'. I always like to give myself plenty of time.I haven't been to one of these before unless you count the Eagles Farewell One where the VIP people had our own lounge. We get a laminate & a limited edition gift (which I am guessing will be the 24 Karat Gold CD).

Kudos to her for doing some deep cuts, most of which I didn't know. I was pleased to hear Outside The Rain, Bella Donna & The Wild Heart & it was certainly interesting to hear a Buckingham Nicks song (Crying In The Night). Stand Back was dedicated to Prince; I had no idea he played on the song. Obviously Stop Draggin' My Heart Around with Chrissie was a high point, as was Edge Of Seventeen. But for me the absolute standout was the magnficent Gold Dust Woman, a song I can never hear enough. I had to leave when the encore started so I missed Landslide, unfortunately.

An interesting snippet is that one of the backing singers, Lori, couldn't make it, so was replaced with a woman Stevie referred to as Marilyn Martin. I wonder if this is the same Marilyn Martin who duetted with Phil Collins on Separate Lives?

My only complaint was that she talked far too much. While her stories were interesting, you don't remember them afterwards. She told one story she said she'd never told an audience before, and of course now I don't remember what it was.

I paid a lot of money for the hospitality package for which I got a laminate & a drinks holder, which I then lost. It was nice being able to stand around & have a few drinks for free, but it meant I never got near the merchandise. I also wasn't in the first four rows as I had thought I would be, but just behind. I had a great seat. But I don't think I would pay that sort of money for anyone again, except for Mark KNopfler, and I think if he comes back he would play a bigger venue.

Sorry this isn't more detailed; I guess I thought the 2011 show was better.

Thanks for sharing, FP! I'm sorry that you lost a few of your stuff. Lol, that you forget Stevie's stories.

It's ok, Lindsey threw a little joke about that when Christine was telling the story of how Buckingham McVie came to be. Lindsey usually tells it, but I guess he handed it to Christine to switch it up a little bit. "Still way shorter than some other people we know."

Do you prefer bigger venues? I mean, I like the smaller ones, since you don't have to be so far away and the tickets are hopefully not as prohibitively expensive.

It depends. This was my first visit to the ICC which is relatively new. I am more used to the old Entertainment Centre, which was bigger, & Qudos Arena where I will be seeing Paul McCartney. They don't have the intimacy of the State or Enmore Theatres which are old fashioned theatres as their name implies.

Did she say anything about Tom Petty?

Yes, before Stop Draggin', obviously, and pretty much the first thing she said after the first song was something about how Tom was rocking along with all of us. But there was more about Prince, including a montage of photos of him during Edge Of Seventeen. I also should have said that she looked beautiful as always, and sang superbly.

I just remembered that she wore the shawl she wore on the Bella Donna cover. Well I didn't know the history!

Looks like there’s a new Stevie Nicks bio. This is from a recent review, a good indication of what to expect from the book.

Stevie Nicks, now 69, is often referred to as the “Queen of Rock ’n’ Roll,” with more than 40 top-50 hits to her credit, both as part of the supergroup Fleetwood Mac and as a solo artist. But according to “Gold Dust Woman” (St. Martin’s Press, out Nov. 21) — a new biography by Stephen Davis — she did it all despite Buckingham’s bullying and abuse.

”Lindsey Buckingham’s abuse of Stevie Nicks detailed in new book” The New York Post, Nov. 11, 2017 (http://nypost.com/2017/11/11/lindsey-buckinghams-abuse-of-stevie-nicks-detailed-in-new-book/)

I have no doubt that Lindsey could be an @ss. That said, I don't know if he was evil, either. Maybe, I don't know. But maybe I just like to think the best in things.

I have a hard time sometimes with bios. I much prefer autobios. You can still be dealing the whole two sides to every story (just look at Heaven and Hell for that), but at least they know what they are talking about and were actually there. lol

I probably will pass on it. Not because of this but just because I find bios to be a mixed bag and there are a lot out there with incorrect information and biased to one member of a band, etc. I'm more interested in Stevie's story by her account.

There's nothing new there - all overblown, dramatized reframing of stuff that's been said before. The only stuff that's truly disturbing - Lindsey going off on Stevie physically - the kicking incident of 1980, and the choking incident of 1987 - those are old news to hardcores.

And while I'm not justifying it, in the 1987 fight, Stevie attacked Lindsey first. She came at him and started beating on him and instead of acting like a man should - grabbing her wrists and pushing her away - he retaliated and then some. Once he had overpowered her, he should have stopped. Instead, he started to choke her!

Messed up stuff, but all in the past now.

This blurb about Stevie’s book reveals a bit more about her relationship with Joe Walsh, mixed with seemingly old news and quotes from a Daily Mail interview.

Nick went on to say, “We were probably the perfect, complete, crazy pair. He was the one I would have married, and that I would probably have changed my life around for a little bit, anyway. Not a lot. I loved him. I really looked after him, and that’s what probably scared Joe the most. We were busy superstars and we were doing way too much drugs. We were really, seriously drug addicts. We were a couple on the way to hell.” In 1986 Walsh called her from Australia and told her not to contact him again.

She also says she had some off performances prior to working with a vocal coach in 1997.

You can read about my experience here (https://www.eaglesonlinecentral.com/forum/showthread.php?t=385&page=81).

Thanks for the link!

Note: Since we have a thread that's for Stevie solo, and this was done to promote the In Your Dreams documentary, I moved it to there.

Thanks Soda! Stevie did seem relaxed and she looked great I loved the way she interacted with the audience - how cool that you were there!!! As for driving in NYC, you are very brave it's not something I would feel comfortable doing it takes nerves of steel -imho.

OT: which is scarier (for an American), driving in NYC or driving in the UK? I vote the latter. The roundabouts fill me with dread, and I always seem to be doing the wrong thing: going too slow on the narrow country lanes or going too fast in the village streets. One driver honked at me and a pedestrian banged on my car to let me know I'm a no-good person.

Driving in the UK is definitely scarier. You have to go against your natural instinct every time you turn, so you can't relax for a moment, and your sense of space is off so you have a hard time staying in your lane. Plus so many of those roads are so freaking narrow!

By the way, just saw your post at the top:

She cooperated with the Stephen Davis book?! Color me surprised. She should write her own book.

NO, she did not cooperate with that book. He just put together a bunch of quotes from interviews and added in some unsubstantiated rumors to boot. He didn't even get all the details right - her birthday is wrong, for heaven's sake!

It really upsets me that his book, which is full of sensationalized crap, is now being presented as if it's the definitive source of information about her life, and about Lindsey's treatment of her. Articles now use it as "proof" of his "long history of abuse" as if Stevie herself has talked about it to the author, when she herself has only discussed two instances when Lindsey was physical with her publicly. While those instances are bad enough, she has presented them as isolated. That's far from the way the book presents it.

As far as I know, Davis has never even met Stevie, much less worked with her on the book.

Stevie's also appearing at the free New Year's Eve show at Nashville.

Movie theaters have not opened yet here in NJ. The Governor has not said when they can open. I don't think I would go to a concert shown in a theater right now. But, that's just MHO. I was considering returning to my gym(health club) which also does out-patient PT as it is connected to a near by hospital. I asked my doctor about it and was told "Stay Out Of The Gym".
I saw in my local newspaper there is going to be a paper shortage again - ugh...... Start stocking up everyone !

This story came up on Facebook news feed. Stevie talks briefly of why they fired Lindsey which we already knew that was the reason. The article also said that Stevie wrote to Lindsey after his heart attack. I do remember Fleetwood Mac talking bad about Lindsey while he was down a week after his heart attack.

Glad to hear she contacted him after the heart attack, and that she’s working on a solo album.

Thanks for sharing the article, Shun.

I didn’t know what to think of that article. Of course, Lindsey and Stevie have a long and complex history together that, as outsiders, there’s much we don’t know. But if I was fired, then suffered a serious health event, I would not react well to the person who was responsible for getting me fired sending a rather “tough love” message to take care of myself. Did anyone else have that reaction?

Yeah. They are all nice. Wrote a letter telling Lindsey to get well and maybe a week or two later they were back to talking about why the fire him. Oh I'm sorry. They didn't like the word "fire"

That statement from Stevie does seem odd. From her perspective I guess she thinks nothing is more important than LB’s health - not the band or feuds, etc. so all that is set aside. Lindsey probably hasn’t forgotten though. When did she send the letter b/c didn’t he or his wife say the only one who contacted them personally was Christine? Maybe I have got it mixed up, I haven’t followed that closely.

I do remember some people thought the letter wasn’t adequate or something but didn’t know about the rest, thanks.

Wow ... just Wow! And I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that she meant well by sending the letter. The sad thing is that she is such a diva that she probably doesn't even realize how insensitive it was.

I also want to see her with Billy Joel, but I haven't been able to get good tickets to any of those shows yet. Dang, they're pricey!

FreyFollower, I bet she will do something for Christine - surely. After she devoted her entire encore to memorializing Tom Petty on a recent tour, it would be almost offensive for her not to do something for Christine, who she declared was her "best friend."
