OK, I've compiled this highlight reel of what the Eagles have been up to over the last twelve months - let me know if I forgot anything important or got a date wrong!

While the Eagles did not play many shows this year, they played some memorable firsts. However, the big news this year has been the Eagles' solo projects - Glenn and Joe as well as former Eagle Don Felder putting out new albums for the first time in decades, and Timothy doing some rare solo shows. Additionally, this year saw more Eagles making better use of the internet and social media. Finally, while Timothy's health scare had us all concerned, he seems to be doing wonderfully, as evinced at the year-end show in Las Vegas.

So without further ado...

15 - Joe Walsh appears on Saturday Night Live supporting Paul McCartney
30 - Eagles play last date of the year at Las Vegas' MGM Grand; Glenn Frey says we can "count on" at least one more date there.

What's ahead for 2013?

January: the showing of Part 1 of the History of the Eagles DVD at the Sundance Festival
February: Glenn Frey travels to Australia and New Zealand to continue touring behind After Hours

Wonderful Soda! The only other thing I can think of at the moment is that you may want to add something about Glenn teaching the songwriting course at NYU.

Soda, great review, but Nov. 17th was an Eagles show in Vegas, so TBS had his surgery after that date.

Also Live at Daryl's House was Nov 15th as I clearly remember watching it when I got home from the Steinhardt event

Thanks for the correction about Daryl's House. However, regarding the surgery, my understanding was that he went directly from the show to the hospital.

Soda, the show was at night in Vegas, & the surgery was in NY so it is not possible to do all that in 1 day. By the time he would even get to NY it would be the next day. My guess is he flew to NY after the show & then had his operation Sun or even possibly Mon.

It wasn't mentioned.

He did those gigs in Charlotte & Charleston as well as that other publlic show you went to in Florida, in November.

Not exactly sure, but, according to the NYU Fall Schedule Calendar, classes began on September 4th and the last day of classes was December 14th. I think one or more of his interviews mentioned how many weeks the class went that he taught, but I honestly don't remember how long it was. I'm almost certain that the class didn't last the entire semester though. You could always just put it on the calendar in September and leave the end date opened-ended. I seem to remember that the class was wrapping up about the time the band performed there in November.

Well.. this is SO not on the list of important EAGLES dates, but May 4th was my VIRGIN EAGLES CONCERT!!!! :partytime:

And I was blessed enough to meet VA and HH and form some great friendships! Can't wait to meet more of you!! :-)

Pardon my ignorance and bad memory, but I thought he was more of an occasional guest lecturer than an instructor for the full term of the course. Am I remembering wrong? I appreciate your help, guys! Perhaps just putting "September 4" would be good enough.

FP, I thought about making a separate entry for the November Frey solo shows but then I thought perhaps they fall under the "After Hours tour" despite the large gap between those date and the earlier ones.

Nanc - My impression was that Glenn was more than a guest lecturer. He spoke about it as if it were an ongoing assignment that he was involved in over the course of several months. I could be wrong, but I thought he gave the students assignments and then met with them to give them feedback, etc. But, I agree if you put it down on Sept. 4, then that should be sufficient.

Also - what about the Eagles shows in Atlanta and Atlantic City - do you want to add those? Since there were so few Eagles shows this year, may as well list them all, IMO.

There were also other TV appearances, the first for Glenn was the Today show on May 7. A month or so later for Joe on Good Morning America.

The TV appearances count as promotional work for After Hours & Analog Man, don't they? Although I see Joe has a few listed, so perhaps Glenn's Today Show & Jimmy Kimmel appearances could be listed.

At the start of October Glenn also did a very brief promotional tour to Australia to announce his tour, after he had already done promtion work in the UK (which was in June, I think).

VAisForEagleLovers

I thought the TV appearances worth mentioning, even if they were part of the promotional work. They've done promotional work in years past, but it was the very first time for at least the morning shows. Not sure about late shows like Kimmel and Leno.

Thanks for such a detailed review Soda! I don't know if its worth putting in that the official release date of 'After Hours' in Europe (inc here and the UK) was June 25th. It co incided with Glenn 's brief UK promotional tour that FP mentioned.

GM - You sure won't get any arguments from me about that!

And one more addition to the television appearances - Glenn and Joe both appeared on Piers Morgan Tonight to promote their albums as well.

My logic for not including all of the promotional television appearances were that they were a lot of them and most of them were pretty repetitive, so they weren't "highlights" ya know? I included the Joe ones where he performed or had a whole show dedicated to him, but not the ones where all he did was give an interview. I can see including TV appearances where Glenn/Joe/Felder performed, but I think putting every show they appeared on would glut it a bit. The same is true for all the various promotional work. I'd have to go back and see which ones they performed on and the dates, but I can see the virtue of adding those more "special" ones.

That's also why I didn't initially put all the Eagles shows, although as Dreamer points out there weren't very many so I might go ahead and add the Atlanta and AC dates.

Thanks so much for your feedback, guys!

As long as you include the Today Show (Route 66) & Jimmy Kimmel (Shadow Of Your Smile) that will be enough. I still think the UK & Australian promotional tours should be included without going into detail.

I think it was a pretty good year for the Eagles fans, with the new solo albums, & the solo tours, & tv specials, it did make up for the lack of a real "tour" this past year....I was a happy girl, as I did see the Eagles twice, & Timothy, & Joe solo shows, so that was enough to hold me over until a big tour comes around!
But I am REALLY looking forward to a new tour & a NEW SET LIST!!! for this year! Hope that happens!:pray:

As for that Hotel California musical??? I can't see that happening in 2013, but who knows???

:drool:You need to include that wonderful GF AS One of the first shows at the sands in bethelem pa 5-18-2012 and Timothy B schmidt at the Historic Keswick theater in Glenside Pa.
The thing these shows had in common was that both men had family members in the audience..GF had family from Nazareth and TBS had his in from the main line of pa.
Great year in review NANCY>>

I think if you put in 1 tour date, then you have to put them all in, or if you put in one tv appearance, then the rest should also be included. I mean why put in am tv appearances , & not the late night ones?? like Leno or Kimmel which I think more people would have seen anyway. If one is included, & not others it looks like they were left out. I don't see one appearance or tour date as more important than the others. I mean to us, everything is important, but I thought this was to be kind of the "highights" of the year!

I think Nancy did a great job & included the important stuff, rather than every single thing that was done the past year.

I think it would be nice to note that TV and radio interviews were conducted to promote the albums - maybe with a note at the end of the summary to say further details under individual band members threads?

Any newbies to the board might not know the interviews were done, and may like to track down the various threads talking about them?. JMHO.

JMO if someone were to take the time from everything else they did ...which isnt gonna happen cause we all have lives....

any mention or listing of an appearence wether late or am could be looked up on the internet...ie letterman , leno and all the news shows have it all posted on line so if you did have a date ..you could look it up and watch it at your convience...

but I think it would be really hard and time consuming for someone to make a complete list ....(dont people get paid to do that??)

Nancy ...love your list you hit on all the "big" important things I think..
I am just greatful that they keep busy (whether solo or group )and love what they do and keep doing it...Heres to a good 2013 for eagles fans

The only reason I thought the Today Show & Kimmel should be included was because Glenn performed songs on those shows. It has been a very long time since he has done this. I thought that was important. For the tour, listing just the tour is enough, not separate dates. I was at the LA show but it doesn't have to be listed separately just because I sat near Cindy & Jack Tempchin.
