Getting together

I belong to another online forum called SHIDOOBEE
It's a Rolling Stones group, and we get together as a group in wildwood nj every Labor Day wkend with great stones tribute bands and other fun stuff
Was wondering in the border has anything during the year where forum members can get together and meet up?

I've never considered doing this but it sounds like a cool idea! The trouble is we're so spread out... still, if we could work it out, a "Border convention" would be awesome.

Borderers, feel free to give an opinion about how we could work this out logistically! Perhaps a meeting place in the midwest or northeast, since more people seem to be located around there?

Or is this just a pipe dream?

I think Desperado's idea is great !! I would love to meet more Borderers !! I think meeting somewhere in the Northeast, like NYC, would enable more folks to make it. Question is where would we go, and what would we do !!

We could choose a fun vacation place where there are sights to see. Also, we could do it different places every year to give more people a chance to go - like one year in NYC, one year in Chicago, one year in LA, one year in MEMPHIS lol....

Right now what we do are mini-Border meetups before/after shows.

Great idea! :thumbsup: Harold (my hubby) just asked me who would be going to the Ottawa concert (we plan to g if get decent tickets) from the Border. He was disapponted when I told him that there probaby wouldn't be any Borderers there. :sad:

Is anyone thinking of going to the Ottawa concert? Toronto?

Does this board have a leader or moderator? on my Stones board there's a guy who started it all, he's he biggest Stones fan out there. If it weren't for him, we wouldn't hang out. finding these forums have really saved my sanity!

I was SO disappointed that the 2 Canadian dates are in July...I can't do July...:-(..so hopefully some new dates will come out soon and we can start planning on where we're gonna catch the show...

I think it's a great idea. We could try and work it around a show, but that might be too involved or restrictive to include a large portion of members.

\Something like the sands in bethelham pa ,...it has an indoor pool...lots of food courts and restraunts ....casino and an outlit mall attached to the building and shows there too but not sure what is available since I have been focused on a certain group of four guys,...

I have a friend who lives in Bethlehem, and in addition to the Casino, it has a very cool downtown with lots of shops and restaurants. And they have a great arts complex where the old steel stacks are. They have free concerts there in the Summer. Fun town!

It just popped into my mind as a plasce that had a lot to do ..I forgot about the arts thing...Just gotta not do it around musicfest which is big out there. we wouldnt get good prices for the hotel rooms).Maybe september is a good month..not to hot???

I went to a fan convention in 1997. I think maybe 20-30 people were there. We had it in Cleveland.

Just reviving this thread because I am wondering if anyone is working on any ideas...I mean with the Eagles touring, perhaps we can meet up sometime this summer!

This is such a great idea. I think we should do it in either New York, Chicago, Houston, or Los Angeles. Although I loathe Las Vegas, it might be handy since the Eagles keep going back there. The only problem is coordinating it with everyone's schedules.

I would love to do this! Since it is already almost June, maybe we should think about next year? It would give everyone more time to make plans. JMO. And of course, I would love to have it in Houston! But I also thought Cleveland would be cool with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame being there and our guys in it.

I have never been to cleveland..If we plan on doing it next year it would be cool to see the hall of fame...maybe we could get a deal on a hotel if we all stayed in the same place...

I would rather do Cleveland & see the R&R HOF, which is someplace I've never been, but I wouldn't mind doing Vegas either. I think we could have some fun there!

That would be good if they would let us know where the were playing enough ahead of time... which they usually don't. :(
