The shirt is a bit 'washed' by sunlight and spotlights, but it's blue! It's the same shirt he has on towards the end of Part 2 of the movie.

Seeing the Eagles at JazzFest was quite the experience, and it was very cool to see my other favorite band at the same place a year later. It reminds me of seeing Stevie Nicks play the Wiltern in Los Angeles on May 26, 2011 and then seeing Glenn play the same venue on May 26, 2012.

This is a pic I posted a while back on my FB but I don't think I did here. It's of Joe and Don F with famous guitar trader/seller Tony Dukes. Tony recently passed away but both Joe and Felder got several guitars from Tony and Felder in particular got the guitar he used for the solos on OOTN and HC from Tony.

No, his HC/OOTN 'Burst is a bit more yellow/orangey and not so dark red. These were probably guitars they were checking out or buying. Looks like from the Long Run era is my guess. Don F bought his '59 right around the time of OTB/right before OOTN. Both Don F and Joe had many '59s, it's just that Felder had one that he really liked most and that's what was on those songs.

I don't know but I bet its quite a lot. I think I remember DF saying he has around 300 guitars in his collection. Makes my 30 look like nothing. :lol: He said in an interview he's never sold a guitar he's ever bought, pretty cool. Walsh and Glenn it's hard to say... I know Glenn still has his 50s Les Paul Junior (Old Black) and his ES-330 (the caramel colored hollowbody guitar in pics and on TIE on the new concert DVD and on the How Long video) not sure. He has his old Telecaster as well. With Walsh, I'm not sure. I'm sure he has a few. His wife bought him a Fender Broadcaster a while back (seen on the Guitar World cover. And I think he also has a 50s Goldtop Les Paul with humbuckers. Not sure if he has any 'Bursts anymore. I'll always associate Joe with a Les Paul Sunburst, like Felder. Even though Joe played a lot of Stratocasters and Telecasters, I love his LP tone. Of course Joe has all of his stage guitars too, but I was referring to ones from back in the 70s.

Noticed this morning that not only did I surpass the 11,000 post mark but I will also be celebrating my 5 year Borderversary on Sunday. Since I am sporadic at best on weekends, I thought I'd celebrate now.

Need to first say how glad I am that I found this forum. Not only did I finally find people that will listen to me go on and on about the Eagles without getting that dazed look in their eyes (yeah--that would be my oh so understanding husband) but I also have met several people here that I will always call friends. That's a win/win for sure!!

haha yeah...they should release footage (that they showed in the doc) of that game they played where Glenn was wearing the shirt that said "party plane" on the back and he's getting out his frustrations because he "hasn't been laid in a while" hehe

and yeah..it would be cool to go to the original Gilley's in Pasadena, TX that was in Urban Cowboy. Though that one closed, they opened one in Dallas. I've never been to Texas at all though...I'd like to visit some day!

There isn't an appropriate thread for this topic because there's not much to be said on it, so we'll just keep it here.

I can't answer your questions definitively. There are many variables that could cause the differences in our activity levels. I could speculate, but what would be the point?

However, I can tell you that there was no mass exodus from Eagleland to The Border. Most Borderers who joined after the first year have never posted on their forum. Our slow but steady growth over the past 7+ years happened independently of the changes in their activity level.

As for your other question, I can't speak for Tim, but considering how sweet he is, I'm not surprised he made it a point to express his appreciation. When fans here finally sent their best wishes a little while after that, his representative thanked us, too. Tim and his camp are very gracious.

This is a pic I scanned out of a Les Paul guitar book and never noticed before that they both are employing talkboxes, which I would have to assume means they are playing "Those Shoes" since no Eagles song uses it other than TS and RMW Felder never did the talkbox too. It looks very "Long Run" era to me.. Great pic.

Just a quick reply here-

I definitely like it more than "The Disco Strangler" or "Teenage Jail". It's got great lyrics and the double talkboxes make it interesting too. I admit to sort of liking "Greeks Don't Want No Freaks" but I know it's not a very strong song, lol.

I have an online friend I met through a guitar forum and his favorite Eagles song is Teenage Jail! He just has great memories of that one. He was friends with Felder in the 70s and was backstage at a couple Eagles shows.

That said, as much of a mixed bag as The Long Run is, the great songs on it are great. TLR, ICTYW, ITC, HT, TS, etc. Those Shoes is so underrated I think. My dad's favorite Eagles song is In The City, and his least favorite is The Long Run, both off of the same album. I share his like for ITC but I really do like the title track. The slide guitar is some of my favorite licks in slide guitar. The intro is classic.

Quick survey time, after seeing the relatively recent-ish photo shoots and concert snaps posted here--do we think Glenn, Don and Tim dye their hair? (I'm guessing Joe just does a rinse....)

If so (and I'm pretty sure they do), they do it well--none of that dipped-in-shoe-polish ick some other "mature" rockers resort to....Glenn even looks sometimes to let a lil' grey creep in the temples, and I've seen a stray strand or a few in Timothy's mane, which makes me wonder if he Even does it at all...?

I wonder how "salt and pepper" (or just salt) they'd all be if they didn't do it---like, would Don's hair match his beard? ;)

Don definitely colors his. He keeps the temples natural for a more natural look. I'm guessing he has to do it about every 3 weeks to keep it up. My boss has the exact same hair. It does make them look younger, they would look much older with a full head of white hair, which is what they have.

Timothy has a lot of gray in his, but he may be throwing some lowlights in there to keep the gray at a minimum - its not a single-process, all-over color like Don's though. He should be trying to match his underneath, natural, dark color, and not let the processed color get too light - if he keeps the streaks cool and dark, he can keep some natural gray and look great. Needs to be careful not to get a bronzy look under stage lights if he's adding color.

Glenn - don't know, looks pretty good, but there aren't many 65 year old men without gray hair. Looks less processed than Don's.

Timothy has a lot of gray in his, but he may be throwing some lowlights in there to keep the gray at a minimum - its not a single-process, all-over color like Don's though. He should be trying to match his underneath, natural, dark color, and not let the processed color get too light - if he keeps the streaks cool and dark, he can keep some natural gray and look great. Needs to be careful not to get a bronzy look under stage lights if he's adding color.

Glenn - don't know, looks pretty good, but there aren't many 65 year old men without gray hair. Looks less processed than Don's.

I agree that coloring one's hair - as long as it looks natural - makes one look much younger. My mother once let her hair go gray, and it added at least 10 years to how old she looked. She decided to start coloring it again and ouila, she looked younger again.

Yeah, I have pretty "complicated" blond hair...it is a never ending effort. I guess I am a connoisseur of hair color processes. Joe is sporting some expensive Beverly Hills baby blonde chunky highlights. The ends are solid blond, which is what happens normally with repeated highlighting. I bet if we could get close enough to see his base color, it would be part his natural dark blonde, part gray, and part blonde highlights.

As for Don, I would recommend he lose the beard, which does nothing for his handsome face, and grow his hair out - maybe not as long as Joe's, but longer than it is. He has nice straight, thick hair that would look good longer. Then, he could do 1/3 dark golden blonde highlights, 1/3 light brown lowlights, and 1/3 his natural gray. This would look really good and really natural.

Yes I would most definitely agree that they all color their hair. There are actually very few people that age that don't have at least some grey in their hair. I'm only 37 and already getting some grey which I plan to color really soon lol. My mom is one of the lucky few. She's 63 and has very little grey though she does highlight it sometimes just for a change and to add some dimension.

I also agree about Don's beard. It doesn't do anything for his face.

Amen MC! If you've got it, flaunt it! The HFO length was very good for Glenn and Don. Long enough to be rock star but not crazy long like the 70s. I say if it's long enough to reach just before the base of his neck, it's good. About the same for Don, although I think he has some hair issues that might make it more challegning for him to find the right style.

This is me, too. I think if he is going to color his hair, he needs to lose the gray beard. It just doesn't go together and magnifies the fact that he colors his hair. I'd also like it a little longish, as in HFO.

ok so I definitively have the answer from the man himself, HENRY DILTZ! Henry Diltz is the photographer of this photo and that is indeed his reflection in the car window

I have a photographer friend on facebook who is a good friend of Henry's so he asked him for me :grin:

Just to add my two cents--I love those peyote-infused Eagles LP images--very much of the era and the image they wanted to put out there, and their mindset at the time. Perfect "desert mysticism meets drugged-out desperadoes." And they all look so fiiiine despite looking blissed out of their sweet 70s-haired minds...

And I love Glenn in the blanket. Man carried if off well, even with the incongruous jersey underneath! I think it's the long hair that makes it, very desert cultures-chic. ;)
