A lot more gray now!! From being about 25 feet away from him for 3 hours 3 months ago, I would say he is 70% gray now, but that could also be the lights. Although, I certainly know about coloring those grays!!! In any event, I'm glad SM put it up here b/c I have never seen it!

Ooops, I guess it was me who stirred all that confusion about the photo being recent :| Sorry! It's just my wishful thinking - I want Timothy to record some new music so bad that I just took this pic for what it is - a "bass player" and a music producer at work!
By the way, do you think this photo was taken around 2003, when Timothy recorded for Ringo's Ringorama? (two wonderful videos might be seen here: http://www.timothybschmitonline.com/downloads/multimediafunstuffvideo.htm ,scroll down to find them). It looks like the same studio.

Mark Hudson co-wrote a few songs for Timothy’s 2000 album, Feed the Fire. Then, in 2003, they worked together on Ringo Starr’s album, Ringo Rama. The picture I posted should be from around 2010 and it looks like they could be at Mark Hudson's Whatinthewhatthe? Studios in Los Angeles. I wonder if they were writing or recording something together or just hanging out…

I doubt painful, but I'm wondering if the doctors advised him against wearing the stuff anymore. Seems we're always hearing these days about the dangers/risks of certain metals and alloys and he did seem to wear that stuff constantly for years on end. Makes you wonder if there might be a correlation. Pure speculation on my part.

I don't think I've seen any of the guys photographed smoking since HFO (I think I remember seeing a photo of Joe with a cigarette during that era). I don't recall seeing a picture of Tim smoking since the 70's so, hopefully, he's given up the habit, especially with his recent health scare.ButI can tell you from personal experience it's a very hard habit to break.

He's even stated in a few interviews how much smoke bothers him and I remember reading a comment he made a few years back about how much he dislikes having to walk thru a casino in Vegas because of the smokers. Sadly I've seen a few photos of Ben in recent months where he's smoking and I've wondered if it's a bone of contention between the Schmit men. I would say it's probably a pretty safe bet that Ben doesn't smoke around his dad.

As for the timeframe and number of years he may have smoked, I'll throw this out there. My dad quit smoking 20 years before he died of lung cancer and my grandmother was smoke-free for over 40 years before she was diagnosed with oral/neck/throat cancer. In both cases the doctors said it was doubtful (but not absolute) that their prior smoking history had anything to do with it. Dad worked in an R&D lab for a vinyl manufacturer for years and his cancer was more likely attributable to the chemicals and toxins he was exposed to. The flip side is the high number of lung cancer cases caused by second-hand smoke. Keep in mind that venues allowed indoor smoking for years and years and everyone in the confines of the building was exposed. Imagine being in a giant room with 30,000+ people and 50% of them are puffing away! Nowadays you can't even smoke in outdoor facilities but think of the number of shows these guys did over the years in that type of environment. Scary!

When I saw Timothy solo in a casino in 2011, he asked the people in the showroom where he was playing to refrain from smoking. It was also posted on a sign there which said something like "no smoking per artist request."

I guess it's safe to say he's given it up! I hope his son does, too.

My husband quit smoking a year ago now. He was telling me last night that he did it for me and he would start again in a minute if I was gone. I guess never being a smoker I can't understand the hold it can have on you. I don't understand the younger people that smoke these days either. Both my kids smoke and used to beg their dad to quit after seeing signs about it in the pediatricians office when they were little. :headscratch:

I suspect he quit smoking many years ago. He's even stated in a few interviews how much smoke bothers him and I remember reading a comment he made a few years back about how much he dislikes having to walk thru a casino in Vegas because of the smokers. Sadly I've seen a few photos of Ben in recent months where he's smoking and I've wondered if it's a bone of contention between the Schmit men. I would say it's probably a pretty safe bet that Ben doesn't smoke around his dad.

As for the timeframe and number of years he may have smoked, I'll throw this out there. My dad quit smoking 20 years before he died of lung cancer and my grandmother was smoke-free for over 40 years before she was diagnosed with oral/neck/throat cancer. In both cases the doctors said it was doubtful (but not absolute) that their prior smoking history had anything to do with it. Dad worked in an R&D lab for a vinyl manufacturer for years and his cancer was more likely attributable to the chemicals and toxins he was exposed to. The flip side is the high number of lung cancer cases caused by second-hand smoke. Keep in mind that venues allowed indoor smoking for years and years and everyone in the confines of the building was exposed. Imagine being in a giant room with 30,000+ people and 50% of them are puffing away! Nowadays you can't even smoke in outdoor facilities but think of the number of shows these guys did over the years in that type of environment. Scary!

As for Timothy, I agree that he probably quit smoking many years ago. In a Dutch radio interview from 2005 (of which I read a transcript), Timothy was asked if he smoked and he replied that he didn’t. He also said that he rarely drank.

In 2012, Indiana played the Knicks at MSG on March 16 and on November 18. If this pic is from the latter date, he would have been in NY for surgery :sad:....from his assistant:

"He flew to New York right after the 11/17/12 Las Vegas show for surgery with a top surgeon. He was only in the hospital for three days."

The dates match up exactly.

That's funny, Bf! I see what appears to be a Pinewood Derby car behind Timothy. Boys make these in Boy Scouts and race them. It is very hard to throw them away because of the time and effort put in, and the boys (and dads) are very proud of what they made. I have a few hanging around here.

I agree with you Irga-I don't know if it's the fact that his hair is starting to grey, there are more wrinkles or what, but he is starting to show his age a little. Don't get me wrong - how many men look that good at that age? I still find him to be incredibly attractive, but I have noticed that he is looking older. Maybe you are right when you say he is looking more tired. All of the travel they are doing makes you tired as well.

It's the trade off for being very thin your whole life - the body still looks great in clothes, but the face shows it once you get into the older years, more so than on the heavier folks. I still think it is shocking that he will be 70 in three years.

to me it seems his illness and surgery took a toll on him, unfortunatelly. There are some photos that show he is really tired. :sad:I still agree with your opinion, s-c, that

he does look years younger than the rest of them :-)

I really don't know which is my favorite era of Timothy's. I just love him, that's all :blush:
