Ah, what a lovely view you have every day! I'm so :jealous:

There are several windows in my office but they are too high up to see much of anything while sitting, other than a tall tree and the sky in the distance! If I get up and walk over to them, I can see more, but not anything like what you see!

What a beautiful place to work, Koala! *G* Great way to keep your student in school! I think we had a beautiful view of a dunkin donuts on one side of our school and highway 26 on the other.

I took this picture a few days ago of what I picked in the garden. My tomatoes are just starting so I was thrilled to get this big ol beefstake tomato! It was really yummy too!

Oh Koala! That is horrible! That happens to my parents occasionally as they decorate all out for all the holidays. I just don't get people!

Sometimes I worry about that, but we live on a long street with only 22 homes and a gate at the entrance. It HAS happened, but the little hooligan that lived next door grew up and guess what? Is in JAIL now.

Sorry to hear about that, Koala. People can be so sick. When my family owned a black cat, we had to keep him locked up on Halloween because some cruel people would mutilate or even kill any black cat they found on that night.

We may get 20 max kids. There are only about 11 little ones in the neighborhood, but some that know people here bring their kids. The ones I am expecting get personalized bags, the others get treat bags with a LOT of candy.

It would be sort of fun to have a little bake shop, but we have a huge Christmas party every year. I start baking the cookies that freeze well a couple of weeks ahead. Then the ones that I want freshly baked I do the day before.

Then all day the day of (today) I am in the kitchen making all the snacks. At the moment my little helpers are in the kitchen, so I am taking a break. :)

No, this is a regular path for them. It is not unusual to see deer daily (usually in the morning) walk up our driveway and across the road. However it is unusual to see them lying down. We have one three legged deer that has been around for a couple of years. Sad to see, but she's a real trooper!

I decided tonight to snap a new profile photo for all of my accounts (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Gmail, etc) and so I decide to have it be with my #1 guitar.

This one is "special" to me. It is known as "Ruby" (Mike has talked about wanting "her" in other threads before!) and is a Gibson Les Paul Sunburst Classic. It was my first REALLY good guitar and the first and really only guitar I have such a strong bond with. It is my guitar "soulmate" so to speak. It's the one I played in the Eagles tribute (Stone Eagles), my first classic rock cover band, and even still today. I've played it longer than any of my others. It would be the one I would grab in the event of a fire. Hoping to god that never happens though but this one personally means a lot to me. It has got me through rough times and made me very happy and made music for all to hear and enjoy. It's the best sounding guitar and playing guitar I have ever played. It has gotten me a lot of compliments as well as complimented me itself! :D It is safe to say this is my number one. My "Lucille". My "Old Black", in this case more like "Big Red". You get the idea. It's my baby of guitars so to speak. I love her! And no Mike, she is MINE! If we ever meet though, I MIGHT let you touch or even play. But it's staying with me!

Here is "Ruby".

Hehe.... I'm pretty much used to it by now that wherever I go I'm gonna have at least one person ask how tall I am, how old I am, an such. "6'8 and 22" is stuck in my head and so its almost like a tape playing, I don't even have to think about it. The Mountains of Colorado are indeed picturesque! But unless you dearly love driving in snow and sub-zero temps, don't even think about moving there! Save your Colorado Time for visits and you'll always remember them fondly

I have a Brother-in-law who moved there with his wife and kids back in the 70's or early 80's. They bought a house up in the canyon near Denver (in Golden actually). It really is beautiful. But frigid! They've been trying to sell for quite a while now so they can move to Missouri in the Ozarks.

I've ridden my motorcycle all over the Rockies and loved almost every minute of it. There was this time in Estes Park as we were pulling in when Snow Bombs started hitting us! It wasn't hail. It wasn't rain. It really wasn't snow as we knew it. It was blobs of snow instead of snowflakes and they HURT <LOL> Soaked us too! Miserable riding a bike, soaking wet in sub freezing temps!

I sure got some great pictures on that trip though. If you want to look through them...

http://mvabercrombie.net/motorcycle_albums/2004_estes_park_mike/2004_estes_park_mike.html

It was also on that ride in 2004 that I searched for and found the Memorial Fountain that Joe had placed in the park in memory of Emma and took pictures of it and the park:

The guys riding with me on that leg of the 5-day trip didn't have a clue who Joe Walsh was let alone Emma. But they diligently rode that series of canyon roads to get to Boulder and then rode all over Boulder looking for the park. No one we asked seemed to have a clue what park we were looking for. I Didn't have a name. Sort of stumbled onto it eventually and then couldn't find the fountain at first. Shot most of a day looking before finding it. We rode on southwestward after Boulder and made it to Nederland...another town with Joe's spoor from back in the early years.

Well, I actually live near Denver, and I love it. The mountains are more beautiful than the city though. I have yet to visit Estes Park. Did you visit the "haunted" house while you were there?

I go up to Boulder all the time. It's just awesome up there. Especially Pearl Street (the outdoor shopping). To be honest, I had no clue about that fountain... Very interesting! I'll have to go see that sometime

I lived in Broomfield for a couple of years in the late 80s. Still have some family in Arvada/Westminster area. The one time I was in Nederland was for the Old Frozen Dead Guy Festival, a good reason to party it up. Never knew about the fountain back then, have to try to find it some day.
One of my favorite things about Estes is taking Trail Ridge Rd to the Rocky Mtn National Park. Beautiful views, lots of elk, not much air for us flat landers. Learned a valuable lesson on time I was there...go inside if it starts lightning. Yikes, it's very close up there...

It is ALL THAT and more for sure! We rode Trailridge on our bikes as the pictures testify. And the air "up there"....Or lack thereof! My Honda 1100 was normally aspirated...old style Carburetors instead of Fuel Injection...It chugged down running WAY RICH with too much gas to air in the mixture. There was always a question as to whether it would re-start if we pulled over to take pictures. Thankfully, it did.

And COLD up there. I think it was MAY when we made that ride and the Trailridge had just re-opened the day we took that ride. It had been closed because of snow so we were very close to being the first over it after they started letting folks through at Estes Park.

I'm not sure whether I enjoyed that part of Colorado or the area down around Teluride and Ouray. I didn't take the Million Dollar Highway that trip but I've heard it is literally breathtaking from Ouray to Silverton to Durango.

Breathtaking pictures Mike!!

I absolutely LOVE Colorado. I've always stayed in the Springs area when we've been out there because that's where hubby's brother & family lived while he was stationed at Falcon Air Force Base and while he was an instructor at the Air Force Academy. Hubby actually lived in Monument Colorado for 2 years after graduating high school. On our first trip out there, (the man was a saint traveling with a wife who was 6 months pregnant and a 2 year old that many hours in a car) I had never seen a mountain before. And those Rockies are the mountains to see for your first time. I couldn't believe anyone would live there and then move back to Indiana. I asked him why he would do that and he said..... are you ready?.... If he hadn't, he would have never had met me. Can I get an "awwwwww"? :hilarious: What a guy!!

Obviously your husband has had lessons and paid attention! That's actually in the instruction manual for men, but most of us don't read it.

But from other things you've said, I think he probably actually MEANT IT! :headbang:

And a big AWWWWWW from me too. This is a little more off topic, but my niece is an army wife and she and hubby are stationed in Colorado Springs at Fort Carlson. They just visited and left to go back on Sunday and I miss them already. But Colorado is a beautiful state.

Found some tiny bits of evidence that spring is actually going to eventually sprung in my yard....

Not sure what that one is

some crocuses

and in this ugly, dead looking area...if enough water and warmth converge and the morel gods grant it, my favorite little fun guys will magically appear....mmmmm.....I hope.

Great photos EF and Mike. I spent a very happy week skiing in Steamboat Springs way back in 1991 and have lots of mountain photos from that time. Beautiful views all of them.

Love the crocus photos too Deb. :partytime: My crocuses have all dies now. :eyebrow:

Melanie,

1991 has few good memories for me. That was the year (April 26, 1991) that an F5 tornado hit our town of Andover, Ks. Killed a bunch of people, wiped out a mobile home park and destroyed an entire neighborhood of BRICK houses.

No one in the town was uneffected either personally or by relatives who either suffered injury or loss of property.

Note that I said "F5" and not "EF5". They rated them differently in '91 than they do today. There are videos of the "Andover Tornado" on YouTube. A real monster.

This is a short video. There are others that are more revealing:

Wow! Nature is mighty destructive sometimes.

We got caught up in hurricane Wilma back in 2005 on an extended family vacation in Orlando, 3 family groups. Wilma was the most intense hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic basin (then at least) and one of 4 Cat 5 hurricanes that season. It was our first experience of a full hurricane let alone a huge one (done the tropical storms before with tornado warnings) but we holed up in our hotel and were fine. It was far better for us I think that we weren't on the coast. Not until the gale / storm force winds we get here in England in some ways. My SIL, BIL and 3 DDs went down to Miami on a trip and said it was bad!

DH would like to see a tornado but not be in it.

TY. It's a new camera I got for "My Company's" use when at a job site. It said it was HD, but pics weren't very impressive on the viewer. But when I see it on my HD 'puter screen I like it, very clear! I don't have stereo-optic vision, but now I think I get what 3D is all about...

These pics are from a Canon Power Shot SX130IS, goes from fully automatic to fully manual. Not the smallest or lightest around, but I bet I could sneak it into a concert...that's important criteria for me, heh heh.
Paid $160 for it on sale, and I'm a living example that it's idiot proof.

EaglesKiwi - It is a Gibson Les Paul Traditional, one of their models that they make that is very similar to their original guitars from their early days. Great guitars - my favorite kind. It sounds great. They are really nice!

MikeA - Yup. I'm gonna go with DiMarzios in this one.
