I was looking at the thick, golf type henley shirts that come with the VIP bags and there's a tag on them saying "Jonathan Corey: There Is No Finer Line." That reminded me of their former backing musician John Corey (https://eaglesonlinecentral.com/band/corey.htm). I wonder if it's the same guy and he's found a new career?

Hmmmm, could be. Sounds like some detective work needs to be done by our resident sleuths!

As of earlier this year he and Frank Simes were both touring with The Who

So either it's not the same guy, or he's got more than one iron in the fire. Thanks for finding more info!

Maybe he's a relative?

If so, the family should get a little more creative with the first names. ;) Or may it's like George Foreman, who named ALL of his sons George! lol

Ha! My dad, my brother, and my nephew all have the same first, middle, and last name. I did a lot of research into my family tree and realized that my paternal grandfather's family is a line of people that all used the same names for about 70 years, so it's impossible to trace back using census records. I swear every cousin is James Lawrence or Lawrence James. They all went to the same church, so I imagine church records are fairly useless, too. Off topic, but obviously to me, them having the same name is what made me think they might be related!

It's not the same guy. John's last name is spelled 'Coury'. He's originally from the Detroit area and was in a band called 'Sky' in the early '70's along with Doug Fieger who went on to form the Knack. (My Sharona). I've seen John credited as 'Corey' but it's 'Coury' on songwriting credits with Henley. Maybe he used both for some reason or maybe the real spelling got lost in translation somewhere. Anyway, it's John, not Jonathan but it's a cool coincidence none the less. John completed the Who Quatrophenia tour in July. Don't know what he's doing now.

The man who has a songwriting credit with Don Henley on the songs The Last Worthless Evening & Gimme What You Got is John Corey. That is how the name is spelt on the album credits for The End Of The Innocence.

In that case the EOTI & Inside Job credits are incorrect. I had no idea the man was known as anything other than Corey.

Maybe 'Corey' is his stage/touring name. According to his writing credits on ASCAP, it's John R Coury, the R being Richard.

Can't get the picture to show up but here's an old pic of Sky. John's in the upper right.

Thanks for the info, chili. That settles that! I imagine he does go with the more traditional spelling of "Corey" for a stage name as it appears so often, but for something like ASCAP, he uses the real spelling. Makes perfect sense.
Love the picture - when was it taken?

Well, we've also determined that those who type in and research credits aren't the most thorough people. Think about the credits on HOTE... The songwriter's hall of fame would get it right.

The songwriter's hall of fame would get it right.
One would certainly hope so!
Thanks for the info and welcome to the board, cp.

Wow......that is interesting. That ASCAP list says he wrote Doin it for Delilah which was recorded by Randy Meisner. I had no idea John worked with Randy too. Does anyone know if he's married? (John..not Randy. lol). One of my favorite Henley moments is from the Hell Freezes Over DVD when an aggravated Don tells John the orchestra is "playing like white people":hilarious:

sorry if my question was too personal. I'm new and don't know the rules about asking about significant others. I'll shut up.:worried:

My guess would be around 1970. John would have been about 19 years old.
Thanks for the welcome everyone.
