Forgive me if this has been posted somewhere else - I haven't had time to keep up with the documentary thread 'cause I don't have a ton of free time and that's spent watching the doc. I have an iTunes gift card to burn through. I'd like to buy some of the songs in the documentary I don't have. (Then I'd like to make a playlist of those songs in the order that they were played in the doc but that's beside the obsessive point.) Has anyone here ever made a list of what songs are on there? I've got all the Eagles/ before Eagles/ Poco/ solo stuff already. I guess that one little snippit of a song Glenn does on the doc isn't available or named, right? Just curious. Thank you!

Also I don't guess there's a live version of Nightingale by Linda? I've been wearing that demo out of Nightingale by the Eagles lately and I'd love hers.

Welcome.

I think if you go to the end credits, you will find a list of all the songs featured.

There is no official recording of Linda Ronstadt singing Nightingale as far as I am aware & the snippet that Glenn sang was exactly that - a snippet.

Hey, OOTN75! I've thought about doing the same, a complete song list of every song used, Eagles or not. Would love to put them in the same order and make a playlist, but haven't spent any time on it yet.

I haven't taken the time to do that, but it's a great idea. Next time I watch, I'll do so - but I'm not sure when I'll get a chance.

Oh wow! You totally made this day SO much better! I'm sending hugs unless that's weird ;o) Just out of curiosity - I've got a playlist of every Eagles song ever in date order that I listen to all the time. I'm not the only one, right? There's also an "every song ever in order" playlist for GF, DH, RM, Fleetwood Mac, and Stevie Nicks. My hubby thinks it's weird.

When you say date order, do you mean the date they were released? That is cool. I tend to listen to a certain album for awhile and then move on to another one, and sort of cycle through that way. Unless I have made a playlist of my favorites. Then I listen to that mostly. The nice thing about I tunes is that I can switch songs in and out of my playlist. I was excited when I finally got a car that I could plug my ipod into. Then I didn't have to burn my favorites to CDs anymore :)

You're welcome guys. I had too much time on my hands. LOL

I know the song Glenn sings (with the cigarettes in his guitars) and the one that Linda is singing to introduce Bernie was not in the credits. Some of the songs were out of order from the credits and they left out some of the songs(i.e. Take It Easy, Take It To The Limit etc).

I do that all the time. In fact, I am currently having a dilemma about a new chronological playlist I am making. I want to include the solo stuff, but should I start with the James Gang / Shiloh / Mushrooms stuff from the 60s, or from 1972 onwards? Also, where should the live material go? It would be redundant to put the songs right next to each other, but that would go with the date. Finally, should I put the solo songs in chronological order of release, in between the Eagles material, or after it?

Ah, the agonies of the anal. ;)

I'm constantly working on a Joe one. I love chronological order. I always include the James Gang w/Joe but then I vacillate on, should I include Eagles songs? If I include Eagles songs do I include only the ones Joe sings on? Should I include the ones where his guitar playing is featured, like, Life In The Fast Lane. Then if I'm getting crazy anal about it, do I put songs that Joe has just played on for other artists like Thunder Island & Riding the Storm Out, etc...... Glad to see I'm not alone in my obsessiveness!

I don't know if this pic will post but I screen-shat my playlist. I have a few bootlegs here and there I might stick in there somewhere but this is the playlist right now. I had the "OOTN Intro" from the boxed set in there between BOML & OOTN but it pissed me off so I took it out. The 2nd Nightingale is from here & I prefer it:

Glenn, Don, Randy & JD have their own playlists of solo stuff because I have all their stuff. Joe has a "highlights" one and Timothy has a Poco songs he sang/ Expando one because that's all I have. I didn't want solo stuff in with Eagles stuff. Different moods. I don't have every live recording I have in there - just the "official" ones and a few others. I also ended up with a youtube video of every song on the tour so I pulled the audio and made that playlist too. That's how my boys knew what song was coming up next at the concert ;o)

Oh I'm sad to hear that it wasn't finished. I've actually been singing that fragment lately, "if you won't be with me someday..." it's rather haunting.

Didn't someone on this forum refer to it as "Smile"? I was hoping there would be a boot of it somewhere.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread...I just watched the documentary again this weekend and I'd like more info on the song too (the one Glenn was singing in the motel room). I agree, it is rather haunting and sweet.

The effort you all went into to make a list of songs in the documentary and that chronological playlist are impressive! I'd love to make a chronological playlist myself that includes their solo work, but that would take a long time, to even get my hands on it all.

Does anyone have an idea where the live performance of Pretty Maids All IN A Row came from? It's in part 2, chapter 5, and starts at 1:20 focusing on Joe Walsh's recovery. I know that this was during When Hell Freezes Over, but I have the DVD and it is not the same version. There are audience recordings on youtube from around that time, but not that particular version. The harmonies throughout it are so thick and precise that you're rewinding back just to hear those few seconds over and over again. Especially Timothy's high tenor during the Oohs at the end.
Many thanks in advance!

I’ve heard from others that the band has a lot of footage from concerts during the Hell Freezes over tour. I’m pretty sure that was just footage the band had in the vault, that unless it gets put out in a release, we won’t be able to get our hands on. I too really liked that clip, it made me become a lot more interested in that song

I would love more HFO era stuff....I love that era of the band.
I have the 95 Christchurch concert and it's great. Too bad it's freezing and raining and the guys are pretty miserable looking, especially in the last half.

The thing is, why don't they go ahead and release whatever they have because if they wait much longer a lot of their diehard fans are their age and won't live forever. And the younger casual fans really don't care to see it. Yes, a few do, but..... So, it will all just die with them, I guess. (Don't get upset about me mentioning this, but it will happen eventually.) KWIM?

I just don't understand them not capitalizing on this stuff while they still can. I know they are perfectionists, but still......we don't care how perfect it is! Let us have it! They must be one of the few bands that are allergic to YouTube and such! :brickwall:
