Ok, they had signs posted on the doors, NO CAMERAS, NO VIDEOTAPING. I put my camera in another bag in my back pack, and lucky for me, the girl checking me at the door didn't bother checking all my stuff closely, so I got my camera in.
However, I didn't use it at all, partly because I was a little intimidated by all the stuff I read on the board about security, and I was a little tired from my long day out on the museum mall. I decided to take Don and Glenn's advice to just be in the moment and watch the show to enjoy it all. The arena announcement to tell EVERYONE to turn off their phones, to not stand and block people from seeing the stage, and NO VIDEO RECORDING with cell phones or video recording devices, also put me off, even though from where I was sitting, and how the seating is staggered, I had a pretty clear view to record from, and the ushers may not have really been able to get to me. Up until the intermission, I was kind of amazed that there were no flashes in the crowd at all, so hey, other people were restraining themselves as well!
What can I remember from the show....

Don and Glenn came out around 8:12, did the fistbump, and we were off!

Don was pretty chatty with his intro, did his impression of a dude giving driving directions to the rehearsal space, talking about this show being part 2 for the DC area and the very first time he and Glenn were in DC when they were first starting out. They shared a room while they played in Georgetown. When have they never shared a room when they were starting out?!

Glenn welcomed everyone to this part of the tour called Sick Bay, because they were passing around the cold, and he must still be sniffling with something because he was using his shirt sleeve to wipe at his nose every now and then, poor guy, but he said they were feeling pretty good tonight! They all sounded great, only a drop off now and then when Don or Glenn went for a low note in one of the slower songs. Tim was clear and sweet, and Joe was Joe, Mr. Virtuosity on guitar. He was sizzling in the second half of the show!

Joe had his camera hat going, and said that when he had the hatcam on the crowd, it was your opportunity - DO SOMETHING. It might go viral and be seen by thousands!

Glenn did not use the plaintiff line, he did the Detroit bit with Mother, Nugent, and added Bob Seger.

Don got chatty on the lead in to Long Run, mentioning Glyn Johns wanted to record in London so they went to London to get them away from "distractions" - which they found anyway - and that London has no good Mexican food, so they went back to California, then to Miami because of Bill S., and then it all got hazy after that. He also took a shot at new bands in the business these days, maybe they should pay attention to the message in the song!

During one of his songs, Joe forgot which mike was his and had to run over to the right one!

For the intermission Glenn said they were going to break for a little while while he gets a transfusion, and then wiped his nose on his sleeve...!

Clothing: Don and the red checked shirt and black pants, Glenn had the dark shirt over the white tee and black pants and then changed to the checked shirt over the white, Tim looked really good in the black tee and pants then in the mustard gold/moss green button up, Joe in dark shirt over black tee and pants then just the black and pants. Has Bernie been doing the checked shirt over the graphic tee, or has he just been sucked into the whole plaid/checked shirt thing only recently?

Well, I will admit that I really did enjoy the show more since I wasn't dealing with a camera or a phone, or annoyed by people in my way. So yes Don and Glenn, I will give you that one. BUT! That doesn't mean I wouldn't want to see a show again and again, so we need a DVD of the tour!

This may sound like a dumb question, but was Bernie there? Just wondering, as he is not in the picture (but it is only one). Seems like that shared cold should be over soon! Hoping so for the 5th!

The picture is probably from the second set. Bernie plays in the first set and one of the encores.

Bernie was there and from what I can remember was on stage more in DC than in NY. I think he sang the second or third song....one I'm not familiar with but I was amazed how good his voice was. That man can sing.

Given that the setlist is exactly the same you would have to specify which extra songs he appeared for if you think he was on stage for longer.

FYI the song he sings is Train Leaves Here This Morning & is from the Eagles' first album.

First of all, I’m sorry it has taken me so long to post anything in this thread. I have just been crazy busy due to life in general on top of starting a new contract position recently. Thanks for the great review, ktdids. I’m pretty much in agreement with everything you wrote – it was another superb concert. I really wish I had been able to catch up with you at the show to say “Hello”, but as I had said in the pre-concert thread – I went up to the show without a ticket and figured I would be at the box office right up until showtime. My plan was to meet NYC Fan and her friends for dinner and drinks before the show and then head over to the box office between 7:15 and 7:30 to get my “best available” ticket.

However, once I got to the venue, I had a slight change of plans. When I got off the elevator after leaving the parking deck, I saw that I was right at the box office. I was surprised to see some folks standing in line because I figured the box office wouldn’t even open until 6:30 or 7:00. But since I had a little bit of time before I had to meet NYC Fan, I decided to mosey on over and check it out. There were about three people in line and one window open, so it wasn’t moving all that fast, so I waited patiently for my turn. When I finally got to the window, I told the lady that I wanted to check out the best available seat for tonight’s show. So the lady brought up the info on her computer, and I saw her eyes get very wide. She grinned at me and said smugly, “So do you want to sit on the floor?” I figured she must have pulled up a pretty good seat by her expression, so I smugly replied back – “Well – that would be cool … What came up?” She pulled out her seating chart and very excitingly exclaimed, “I can’t believe it, this has never happened to me before, but you’ll be sitting here.”, as she pointed to a front row, almost center seat. She said “So, do you want it?” And I tried to contain my excitement and said “Yeah, I’ll go ahead and take it, I think.” As she was processing the order, she was actually more excited than I was and kept going on and on about how she had never had this happen, etc., etc., etc. As she handed over my face-value priced ticket, I got my cell phone out to take a picture of my unbelievably good luck. Before I tucked it very safely away in my purse, I glanced again at the ticket still in a bit of a shock, and it said, Section 3 (Joe’s side), Row AA (1st row), Seat 1 (Inside aisle). I then, very happily, headed off to the restaurant to meet up with NYC Fan. I also called Soda to bask in the glory, but I got her voice mail and had to leave her a message. When NYC Fan and her friends arrived, they couldn’t believe it, but, after I showed them the ticket, her friends headed over to the box office to see if they would have any luck upgrading their tickets, but they weren’t as fortunate. So, we just chalked it up to fate – it was meant to be for me to have that ticket. After a lovely dinner (although the service at the restaurant totally sucked), it was time to head to the venue for the show. They teased me once again about being the girl in the front row as we said our goodbyes and went our separate ways.

So, I get down to the floor and head to my front row seat, and a staff lady stops me to escort me to my seat. When we get to where my seat is, she has a look on her face that is puzzling. She says she doesn’t know where the seat is, so I proceed to show her exactly where it was, and she proceeded to tell me that wasn’t my seat. She asked me to follow her so she could ask her supervisor. He walked over, checked it out, and then started walking away toward the back of the arena with my ticket. By now, I’m thinking, ‘WTF is going on?’ and getting a little worried. I remember noticing that the ticket said Row AA, and wondering why they just didn’t call it Row A, but I didn’t question it because I’ve seen some crazy naming conventions for seating before, including that one, and besides surely the lady in the box office knew what she was doing. After a couple of minutes, the supervisor returned and asked me to follow him as he began walking toward the back of the arena again. Now, I’m really worried! We get to the last row in Section 3, Seat 1 and he says, “M’aam, here is your seat”. I said, “You’ve got to be kidding me!” and began explaining everything to him to no avail. Yes, Row AA was the last row in Section 3, and he said there was nothing he could do, and that I would need to go back to the box office if I didn’t want to sit there. Okay, right, it’s 8:07 now, and he wants me to go all the way back to the box office. I begrudging took my seat deciding that the woman screwed up and there was probably absolutely nothing they would do about it even if I did go up there and bitch and complain. I’d just miss some of the show for nothing. So I sit there really pi$$ed off realizing there’s really not much I can do except grin and bear it. Fortunately, I didn’t have too long to sit and stew about it before the show started. As I decided to try to be positive and just enjoy the show, I realized that the seat was really pretty darn good, even if it was a far cry from Row 1 (to be precise about 25 rows). However, it was Seat 1 in the inner aisle, so I had a pretty unobstructed view. And it turns out that I had a really nice man sitting next to me.

So, despite my disappointment, I ended up having a great time. (Thanks for bearing with me through that very long ticket story). The guys were really on even though they were still ailing. When Glenn first spoke, he sounded very hoarse, but his singing voice was pretty good, even though maybe not quite as strong as it normally is. As I said earlier, ktdids covered most of what I wanted to say about the show. I will add my comments about the sitting/standing policy though. I noticed when I was first getting on the elevators in the parking deck that they had the pre-show announcement posted at the doors. I will have to say though that this is the first show I’ve been to since they started cracking down on this at the NY shows in November that I thought the band handled things very well. For the first time, I thought they made it very clear exactly when standing was okay and the audience complied. Nothing was ever mentioned after the pre-show announcements until right before Heartache Tonight. At that point, Glenn said something like … ‘We want to thank everyone for being so attentive and being respectful by remaining seated. But, that portion of the program is now over. It’s time to get up and move your body.’ The audience got up, yelled and applauded, and remained standing for the rest of the show. I didn’t hear anyone complaining at all. I’m actually okay with their policy as long as they make it clear like they did that night. I just don’t like it when they reprimand the audience or leave it up to the audience to guess when or if it’s okay to stand. Are there other songs that I would personally like to stand for earlier in the show – Yes. But, I can live with the way it was handled in D.C. – it’s a good compromise. Those who want to sit (or are short like me) get to see a good portion of the show without their view being obstructed, but you also get a chance to rock out for a good while at the end.

Hey Dreamer, glad you were able to get into the show after all! I did wonder if you were there as I went in myself!
I had a funny moment on the escalater going up, with this couple behind me. The woman asked the man, "Why are you smiling?" He said "I'm looking at the crowd, it's a nice crowd! It's different from the one from the Taylor Swift one." The couple were probably my age, so I turned around and said, just a touch sarcastically, "Because it's a MATURE one?!" Got a good laugh out of them! Apparently he was dragged to see Taylor with his daughter and he wasn't complaining, but it was just so much younger than he was!

Dreamer, I was afraid for you when you said it was row AA and not row A. Sorry about that but glad you ended up having a good time. The last time I sat that far back I had to stand on tiptoes and constantly peer around or through people in front of me to see.

Oh your ticket mess really sucks, ugh something like that can actually happen:eyebrow::roll: Good it didn't ruin your evening:)

Also I agreed with their handling of the standing/sitting that night is a good compromise:thumbsup:

Brooke - I didn't think anything about it when I saw the AA since the lady had shown me my seat on the seating chart. I have seen a few venues that actually have the double naming convention for their seats. I don't know what purpose it serves, but I know I've seen it a few times before so it didn't raise a red flag for me.

In any event, even though I was, obviously, very disappointed and pi$$ed off that the lady didn't know better, I decided I just had to chalk it up to '$hit happens'. The thing that kept going through my mind is that it's possible I could have gotten a better seat. But like I said, I was determined not to let it interfere with my enjoyment of the show. After all, I took my chances and could have done a lot worse for sure. But thank you all anyway for your sympathetic ears. :grouphug:
