I love Sarah McLachlan! She has such a beautiful voice, and she's an amazing songwriter. Her songs are full of evocative imagery and intense emotion; she's truly a poet. For newbies, try her wonderful live CD Mirrorball. It's a real showcase of her talent.

New new album Shine On has been released - with a tune co-written by Don Felder! I'll be buying it.

Some of my favorites:

The magnificent Angel, which has choked me up on more than one occasion:

That's just a few examples of her genius. There are many more. Enjoy!

She does have a great voice, but every time I hear her I think of those horribly sad ASPCA commercials and get depressed.

Those ads for the ASPC are so very sad I cannot watch them anymore.
Only good thing is you know those particular animals have received help now.

I just say Sarah on The View, she has a magnificent voice.

Sarah McLachlan is a great singer.

The ASPCA commercials kill me. I have to turn the channel. I have enough melancholy in my life so I have to pretend I don't see it. It may sound cold but if I read or watch those things that pull on the heart strings too much I can easily slip into depression, which I struggle with anyway.

However her other songs are great. But I can't listen to "Angel" either because it reminds me of those commercials. I like "I Will Remember You" a lot....

yeah...those commercials have sort of ruined her for me...that's all I think of when I hear her voice now...

Well, you might try to think of all the animals who have been saved thanks to that commercial and associate her voice with that.

I used to try to avoid listening to Angel. I made fun of it because, as I would say, it "put me to sleep". But now I enjoy it. I wouldn't say I'm a big fan but I enjoy her voice a lot.

Angel is a very cool, interesting song, and I'm glad that certain projects have taken an interest in it, but it has been "co-opted" to such a degree that it is unfortunately associated with the movie and the animal ads and lots of dying kids videos and tributes.

I had a CD that came out between Fumbling Towards Ecstasy and Surfacing that was an acoustic version of a lot of the songs on Fumbling...does anyone know the name of that CD? It's not reflected on the Wikipedia, which is weird, because I'm sure it was an official release of hers...it was like different, live versions of her earlier songs...anyone? I will try to find it in the dusty CD cases.

Thanks for posting all those videos, Soda! Sarah is a great artist. Her voice and songs are wonderful.

Here is the song that Sarah co-wrote with Don Felder. It’s called “Turn the Lights Down Low.” I think it’s a beautiful song!

Turns out that Sarah herself turns the channel when they come on :)

The ads do a lot of good, but I'm glad to see that they have new ones with Eric McCormick.

SM- thanks for sharing that video of 'Turn the lights down low' - I love it! She does have a beautiful voice.

Sara's cover of Susan Enan's Bring Out the Wonder is amazingly beautiful, I recommend listening to it on YT:)
