Anyone else a HUGE fan of Buckcherry?

I feel like that they are the last living example of a modern day Aerosmith or GnR. I also feel a lot of the bands that I see people following are purely rock bands that miss the other critical part of the equation - ROLL. The groove that sucks you in and that swagger that the Stones had. That AC/DC had. That Aerosmith had. And Guns N' Roses had. IMO they are the last band cut from this mold. Most of these new bands get the rock but they forget to roll.

Granted, Buckcherry has been around for awhile but they are still doing it and IMO were the last band cut from the same cloth. I LOVE Keith and Stevie D's guitar playing and Josh's raw vocals. I love the Black Crowes too for a newer band but they are so on again/off again that I have to give the credit to Buckcherry for keeping it going.

And they STILL get on modern rock tours and festivals even though they are WAY better and more old school than these other bands they are touring with. So they are keeping the old sound and style alive, and for that they are worth their weight in gold IMO.

Their music may be a bit too hard-edged for a lot of the more country-rock Eagles fans or people that aren't into guys like Aerosmith or GnR but IMO they have a LOT to offer and are totally old school with their vintage Gibsons and Marshalls and the whole bit. I think of Keith and Stevie like a modern day Joe and Brad from Aerosmith. They totally know how to play to each others strengths. And the music is full of groove.

My favorite songs are Lit Up, Crazy Bitch, Sorry, and Gluttony.

Definitely worth a listen if you are a fan of old 70s hard rock. It's like they picked up were GnR left off.

I'm not familiar with BuckCherry, Austin, I'll have to check them out. I love GNR, so I'll give them a try.

Like your av, BTW!

Thanks! I love Grumpy Cat - he's my cat idol! :hilarious: I'm a cat person.

Buckcherry got their name BTW from Chuck Berry - a bluesman.

Some of their stuff borders on metal but to me is still on the old school side, more like GnR on steroids or something.

Their first couple records sound like Aerosmith to me. Lit Up is a classic Stonesy riff with some cool slide playing. The singer has a very raw voice like Axl I think.

Totally agree. It's like they took Aerosmith, Stones, AC/DC GnR, and maybe bits of new stuff and made something that can appeal to the new generation as well as to the older school rock n' roll fans. I see a lot of people following new bands that are classic rock fans but they don't sound like rock n' roll bands to me. I've said it before, to me outlaw modern country sounds more like rock n' roll from the 70s/80s than modern rock could ever dream of. Granted the lyrics and image suck, but the music sounds like it came straight off of a GnR record. Seems like today's country is either bubblegum pop or is more 80s hard rock/southern rock. It's like Lynyrd Skynyrd mixed with Motley Crue. :hilarious:

The 15 record that came out in '05 brought them a lot of new blood so to speak, and that is the one that had that song on it as well as Sorry.

They have a new EP out soon that I'm excited for.

It's a twist on words of Chuck Berry, the "Johnny B Goode" guy.

Chuck Berry / Buck Cherry....

But I agree, lol.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who digs Buckcherry on here.

I see a lot of people following these new rock bands like Black Veil Brides or Avenged Sevenfold but I just can't get into them. To me there is a difference between rock and rock n' roll, the latter has swagger, groove, and is what makes it great. To me Buckcherry is cut from the same cloth as Aerosmith, GnR, AC/DC, etc....and I dig that. Yet they still can appeal to younger audiences with their lyrics. But to me they are a rock n' roll band, and I dig that.
