I saw this on facebook.

We have a Don date after the Australia tour. He'll be headlining the Cherokee Creek Music Festival in Dallas, TX on Saturday, May 16. The tickets are not cheap. One day is $200.00

I guess he'll have something to promote!

I hope this means there will be other things announced soon!! Not about to spend $$ to travel and $200 for a ticket where I might get rained on, so I really hope this isn't a one-off.

I'm totally there unless there are other dates announced that are more convenient. WOOT!!!!

ETA: Yeah, this is a great date for me. It's right after summer vacation starts and on the way, I can pop in and visit my family to boot. Good deal!

Their will be other artists that day. The question is who will be there the same day as Don. I wish I can go to this, but I don't have $200 to see Don especially if their aren't any other artists I want to see that day.

I do hope this means Don will be touring after the Australia dates. I still want to see the guys before they stop touring whenever that will be.

Don can get in his car and drive there since it's a hop, quick and a jump to Dallas since doesn't live that far.

This will also continue my "see Don solo every other year" trend:
June 2005: Chicago, IL (with Stevie Nicks)

August 4, 2007: Grand Prairie, TX at the Verizon Theatre (with The Pretenders)

November 9, 2009: Des Plaines, IL at the Rosemont Theatre

October 14, 2011: Tulsa, OK at the Hard Rock Casino

April 20, 2013: Beaumont, TX at the Civic Center (Christus Gala)
And now the Cherokee Creek Music Festival in 2015!

Hey, guys, HB pointed out to me on the phone that this festival is in CHEROKEE, TX - not Dallas. Big difference! I'll fix the thread title.

Yes, didn't want you Borderers driving around Dallas wondering where Cherokee is. It is @ 230 miles away from Dallas, closer to Austin.

Enjoy Soda and anyone else who can manage to go. Maybe this is a sign that Don will be releasing his new solo album and he could follow with more dates. More confirmation of my suspicion that 2015 may be more a solo year than a band year.

Sorry about that. I thought it was in Dallas. I guess their headquarters is in Dallas because I did see Dallas on their website. I probably had gotten it from that. OK. I guess will either fly to Austin and then drive to Cherokee or fly the almost 300 miles to Cherokee.

I know, Glennsallnighter. Maybe this is a sign of Don doing a solo tour this year and we will finally get his solo album. The question now is when will it comes out if its coming out this year.

Its nice to see other dates after the Australia. At least we know their probably be more dates later either as a band or different solo tours. I just hope I will get to see Don.

I was looking at the drive for Don. Its 3 and an half hours from Dallas(well depends on how far he lives from Dallas) and almost 2 hours from Austin if he decides to fly into Austin. Either way. He's got some driving to do.

Its an 9 and a half hour drive for me. I just don't know. I want to go, but I don't have $200.00.

I wouldn't know, but do you seriously think Don would drive himself to this show? I wouldn't have thought any of them would do such a thing in this day & age. Just because he lives in Texas doesn't mean he'd consider driving to it himself.

:hmm: I've been checking out my work schedule for May and trying to see if I can make this work. I was considering visiting Soda this spring, so maybe we can make this a twofer.

OK. They have the rest of the performers listed for the whole festival. I've never heard of none of those people that will be there the same day as Don. The only person I've heard of is Hal Ketchum and of course Don, but he's performing that Thursday.

Here's the list. Sorry to say. I still won't go see Don for $200.00 and there's nobody on that day I would want to see before Don. I don't think I could sit through 2 or 3 performers before Don came on.

I've been to many festivals and have sat through sets by many an unknown act before the headliners came out. More often than not, these acts are actually pretty good - just not commercially successful.

I agree with sodscouts, shunlvswx.

Festival acts are a lot more fun than Support acts for some reason. Most times I've attended a Festival, I'm glad I went even before the main act walk on stage.

I remember seeing a band named Picturehouse at an all day show in Germany. Enjoyed their set, bought their CD at the venue, never heard of them before or since. Still love the CD and the memory.

$200.00 is a bit steep though it promises to be an exclusive Don set.
It's not country music festival is it?

sodascouts

It appears to have musicians from multiple genres, but you can bet several will be country acts. It's in Texas, after all. ;)

maryc - If you ever get the chance to see Don solo, go for it. You definitely won't regret it. Oddly enough, he was the last of the current lineup that I got to see solo, but now I've seen him three times. Needless to say, he did not disappoint. Sadly, I'm not going to make this show as I won't get to Austin until next Sunday. So, I'm really hoping that he will do a few more shows this year so I can get to at least one of them.

Yehaw. Its almost time. 20 more minutes. Everybody that's there have fun. I saw on facebook that they announced no phones or cameras. Well we know somebody in the crowd will have pictures or a video on YouTube. I'll be checking twitter to see if anybody is posting during the concert.

Its 8:32 in Texas(I'm on Central time too). If they are starting at 8:30, Don should be on stage right at this moment.
