FIrst of all unfortunately the night was marred by me stupidly losing my wallet. I dropped it on my way to the toilets & by the time I realised, it had vanished & nobody had the decency to hand it in. I had to get a cash refund on the merchandise I bought so I could buy a train ticket home. My credit cards are now cancelled (when I got home at 1 am I got straight onto the companies involved) & so tomorrow & next Wednesday I will have to use my passport for ID & show an account statement with the credit card details.:brickwall:

The seat was on Bernie & Tim's side so it was good to give them some attention & I smiled at them whenever they looked my way, which was a few times. Bernie played a Telecaster most of the time (apoolgies to the vast majority of you who already know all of this. I am late to the party & I don't want to repeat a great deal). Tim wore an olive green shirt in the second half.

I had a few glances from Glenn but I am still not sure if he remembered me from 2013. I got a look from him during 'ain't it funny how your new life didn't change things'' (!) Most of the time he concentrates on the middle section so he can do that again tomorrow (assuming they let me in...:nervous:) anyway the shirt he wore in the second half was that pale plaid blue one with the plain arms (GA saw it in New York). I honestly have to say that I don't think he has enough to do in this setlist & so it's hard to lavish him with the usual devotion. He sings well but seemingly not enough. If Don had an extra couple of lead vocals I don't think it would have hurt him to have one as well. Consequently it must be said Don tends to overshadow him. For whatever reason he wore a face mask of the Queen during RMW but it took him a long time to face the audience & let most of them see it. Was he commenting on our failure to become a republic or our fool of a Prime Minister who knighted the Duke of Edinburgh in January? Anyway he did get a good line in when discussing Lyin' Eyes. He said his skin still looked good because he hadn't been outside for 35 years. For the intro he did NOT have a mirror or anything like that. He just struck poses. I don't sound very enthusiastic, do I? I was spoilt by the After Hours tour, I think.

I think Don & Joe are the stars of this tour. I was close to Don during WW so I watched him play & he was excellent & of course he plays on the Desperado songs. Once again I have to say I think people expected the song Desperado to be included in this segment. I STILL prefer DD to the Reprise, VA, but I was a bit stressed out. IN BOML Don definitely sang 'drinking about all the things that we said' instead of 'thinking'.

Joe was wearing a black T shirt with a fireworks design & of course he was cool. His contribution to the HOTE theme was a rambling story on how he joined the band, came here in 1976 ('we were going to play Darwin but it was gone!' - a reference to Cyclone Tracy) before LBG. It was good that he did this (which he didn't on Monday) & Tim talked about LWKUA, because otherwise the HOTE feel in the second half isn't really there. I did play closer attention to ITC (nice sparkly Tele, I think) but I still can't get excited about the song.

I would say my favourite performances were all of the first half, NKIT & HT (which was the only song for which the audience stood. It comes far too early in the setlist as I said & I am still unsure about the arrangement). I wish I could flesh this out a bit more; if you have any questions feel free to ask them.

Sorry to hear your issue with the wallet! I hope it all works out for you on getting in tomorrow and next week.

I can see how such a thing would have an impact on the enjoyment of the concert. I, too, prefer the first set over the second set, but I still enjoy the second set a lot!

Fp, so sorry to hear about your troubles. That had to effect your whole evening!

On to the next show! Hopefully, all will be better!

Thanks again, FP! That sparkly/glittery guitar is mesmerizing!

Interesting that it sounds like fans only stood for one song or so in the AUS shows? That was not the case at all in LA and San Diego. We were up in the first half for AG and OOTN, and never sat down in the second half after HT. I wonder if the band is cracking down? More dirty looks from Don, or is it security? Are the fans trying to stand? From my tennis watching, I always think of Australians as WILD haha.

So sorry about the wallet.

Thanks for the review, FP. That's so unfortunate that you lost your wallet. I hope the next show is more exciting for you. :)

I haven't posted anything about the Melbourne concert we went to as I was hoping Sydney would be better.
Hardly anybody stood at all at last night's concert during the second half. I think there was 4 standing in the front at one point during take it easy. I'm not sure if it's an Australian thing not to stand up but I thought it was shameful after some of the other shows we've been to.
We found the Queen mask funny but then, we're British. He also had it on in Glasgow I think, which was during the run up to the Scottish independence vote.
There was more on stage banter here than in Melbourne but the crowd let them down in my opinion.
There's not much I can say that FP hasn't already mentioned. ITC was a highlight as always as was OOTN. I agree about TLR with some of you, it pains me when Don Henley tells everyone to get up and dance to it :hilarious: but that wasn't an issue last night!
I'm hoping Brisbane's a livelier lot, it's our last concert so hopefully a good one. I'll have to use my own initiative for where to on holiday for the foreseeable future :)
FP sorry to hear about your wallet, I would've lent you money to get home if I'd known. Add me on fb and then you can get in touch.

I didn't notice any cracking down from Don or anyone else. Just nobody wanted to stand until HT & the band seemed pleased they did. Then they sat down again with only sporadic stand up applause after each song ended. I guess the QCUA crowd was more into it.

I am sorry I sounded so down this morning; I had a great time, I really did, so forgive me. I've spent all morning getting my driver's licence & Medicare sorted out & also Rosalind had issues at school yesterday which perhaps contributed to my carelessness last night.

Steph - Will could have been a different person. He has cut his hair short again & has shaved.

Roberto was there but sadly wasn't introduced. He wears glasses now!

Sounds like me flojo! I don't know what I am going to do with all these vacation days this year. For the past 2 years I did not have enough vacation days for all the EAGLES shows. Come on guys help us out - we need more shows!

Me, too, Flojo! Not just the vacation days, but the ticket fund is growing steadily and taunting me with each monthly statement that there are no tickets for sale.

"Joe Walsh wandered out onto the stage without much introduction"

Does Joe need an introduction? :hilarious:

I love the description "wandered," it's so true! I'm not trying to be pedantic, I promise, but if I recall correctly, Joe walks on stage while the guys are already playing, while Bernie and Tim walk on in between songs, so I think that's the main difference? I'm not sure that Glenn saying, "the song reminded me of my favorite band, Poco" is actually an introduction, or counts as a story of how the guy joined the group. I might be forgetting something, though. I guess what I'm trying to say is that none of the 3 were introduced and there was no story about how they joined the band, it was more the timing of their entrance on stage.

9.5 out of 10 stars, that's awesome!! What a lovely review.

I agree, MC, I'm thinking they mean more along the lines of dialogue that precedes them coming on stage, and then with Joe, he does walk out while they are playing and just sits down and gets into a riff.

I can't remember which concert it was, maybe a year ago at Cincinnati, someone near me is the one who made the comment "The man who needs no introduction" right after Joe sat down to play.

I never really thought about it, but I would think they would do an actual introduction for each of them when they come out.

Wandering Joe! Too funny!

Bernie's name gets mentioned as he comes out. Don talks about how Linda recommended him when they were first getting started. Timothy does not get his name mentioned, all Glenn says is that PEF reminded him of his favorite band at the time, Poco, and out comes Timothy. Joe doesn't get that much (just a lot of applause).

Freypower

Tim's name was given at both shows I have seen so far. Glenn announced him as the bass player from Poco & then he came on stage. But no, it wasn't about how he joined the Eagles, although he alluded to it when he introduced LWKUA.

Another observations; I thought during Funk #49 with the pinball backdrop it sounded as if they had incorporated the melody of Space Age Whiz Kids into the song.

That review is OK but BOS wasn't 'shelved' for Joe's songs which have always been there. I didn't miss BOS. I was glad the show was about the Eagles' music primarily.

Yeah, that is different from previous shows then. So Glenn introduces Timothy (and I guess Bernie too) by name twice during the show. Fine by me! I just think its cool when Tim and Joe walk out without their name being announced, and the crowd still goes nuts when they see them. Like Don and Glenn!

Thanks for the review FP and the additional experiences Flojo. I'd agree that I too prefer the first set of the show over the second one - FP what do you think of the video backdrop to AG?

I didn't miss BOS either, I think as it is History of the Eagles its best to stick with the bad songs as opposed to the solos. I suppose though they know that Joe's solo songs will draw a certain proportion of the crowd that would just not attend if he didn't have them on the setlist.

FP I'm so sorry to hear about what happened with the wallet. But I'm sure there will be no problem getting in, so try not to stress. I had changed a credit card between purchasing and attending in Belfast in 2009 and there was no issue. In any of the Eagles (and Spandau Ballet) VIP events all I was asked for was ID. No Credit card. Hopefully you will get your cards soon. How sad that someone would not hand it in if they found your wallet.

And I do hope Rosalinds issues are sorted too. School can be a tough place at times.

I did mention the AG video in the QCUA but it's gold for Glenn fans, isn't it? It reminds me of Top Gear road trips (to Americans who haven't seen Top Gear I can only apologise). I also thought the guitar duel was a bit like Top Gear as well with the oneupmanship.

I rang Allphones & all they need is a credit card statement with my name & address. Same with BEC, although in that case I have the paid statement of the transaction.

I must say that I love Joe's hair the length it is now. I thought when it was longer it was a bit stringy.

He did not do plaintiff in Dublin the night he wasn't well. It was like he was saying the minimum to conserve his voice for singing. I think thats the only show I've been to where he didn't do Plaintiff.

Good old Bob Ellis. I have a few of his books on Australian politics but he's become more eccentric in recent times. I notice he didn't actually write this review. This paragraph:

‘New Kid in Town’ is up next. Glen encourages the audience to sing a long again with this one. When he sings the line ‘you look in her eyes…..the music begins to play’ , I felt a collective shiver going down everyone’s spine (including mine) at the depth of feeling and emotion and longing that Glenn was able to deliver in that one line …. were we really here, hearing him sing that line live to us ? If I never heard another note that night, I would be content having heard the magic that he delivered in that phrase.

Yes, yes & yes, although he urged us to sing along with Lyin' Eyes. There was no intro to NKIT at all.

So glad I clicked on the link! I got the sense that it would not be a typical review when I got to, "I have tried to bring the feeling, sights and sound of the concert to them, and everyone else, through these words."

She must have been taking furious notes. Always nice to read a reviewer who appreciates the guys as much as we do!

Thanks for the reviews FP and flojo and I hope losing your wallet didn't totally spoil the evening for you, FP.

And VA - thanks for posting that terrific review. Gosh, maybe I'm just overly sentimental since this tour seems to be winding down, but I actually teared up reading the last few paragraphs of that. Wow - I hate to think that I've seen the HOTE tour for the last time.

Short hair & shaved - is the man having a personality crisis!!:hilarious::hilarious:
Hope his hair isn't TOO short. He has a habit of letting it get too long & then getting it cut too short.
Three cheers for him having a shave though. It's about time. That beard has been spoiling my fantasies for over a year now.

Sorry to hear about your wallet. Hope you get all your cards sorted out quickly & that you didn't lose much cash.

It was weird to see, I have to say. I liked the longer hair & stubble. It wasn't too short & still had a nice wave.

I was right in front of him on Friday night. He was wearing a T shirt under his black shirt so no chest! I did look at him when I wasn't distracted by other people (:singer:) & he looked good as always.

Just to answer about the cash, I lost about $70. The cards should reach me next week although whether I will get them before Brisbane, I don't know.
