I saw a post about it on David's official Facebook page, but everyone there said that it was a hoax and that his page has been hacked. Since the New York Times has written about it, I guess that it's true. :( RIP David. Another great talent gone too soon. Cancer sucks.

I'm speechless. This one was a bit too close to home for me emotionally. I can just say RIP Mr. Bowie (Jones).

Me? I have never intentionally written or recorded a song that sounds like Bowie, but whatever I do - heavy stuff, standard ballad stuff, weird "experimental" stuff, whatever - I'll get the comment "sounds like Bowie". So yes, I guess he was an influence!

Oh, he was hilarious in interviews. I could choose any interview, but how about this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qqq0vWftKsc

Bowie is an absolute legend.

Of course, here at home, we were just discussing him, and what a legend he really was, like you said, and his new album and then, his birthday just having been on Friday last. Just so surprised and saddened by this. You would think, perhaps, that there would have been some mention of his illness during all the press coverage for his album release last week.

Very shocking - like many, I thought it was a hoax at first. He must have kept his illness very quiet. I'm glad he got to see the release of his last album before he passed. What a legend.

R.I.P.

I was very shocked to see this when I woke up this morning. I said to myself this is not true. He just turned 69 and just put out an album on Friday. Who would had thought.

I watched his last music video that just came out and he kinda did look sick in the video.

RIP David Jones aka David Bowie.

His biographer said he had six heart attacks in recent years, poor guy, in addition to fighting cancer for past year and a half.

:jawdrop: . Six heart attacks?! Dang, and he managed to be able to record a new album!

David Bowie was a quirky, charming, innovative, and original talent.
He had a catchy set of songs done in a once-and-only style.

There's a starman waiting in the sky
He'd like to come & meet us
But he thinks he'd blow our minds

David, you are a hero, not just for one day, but for all time. Rest in peace.

I had the privilege of seeing him on the Let's Dance tour in 1983.

I don't understand how Levon Helm could be tweeting, since he died in 2012. Nevertheless, thank you for that - beautiful and heartfelt sentiments from so many.

I was stunned about 6:35 yesterday morning when I out on the radio and the news of David's death was just filtering through. His Birthday had been celebrated only last week and the release of his new album. He really was a musician for all times and I think everybody has fond memories of his songs. He reached out to everyone, young and old and was certainly one of those staple artists of my days growing up.

May David Rest in Peace and heartfelt sympathies to his family.

Well, yes, like the majority of these the tweet is done by the official tweet account, but it does seem strange.

I was absolutely stunned when I heard about his death. He has left behind a fantastic legacy, a lot of classic songs and albums but also his influence goes way beyond popular music itself. He was a unique talent in every sense of the word. Even the timing of what turned out to be his final release seemed fitting, even though I'm sure he'd rather it didn't have to be his farewell. RIP David.

I saw a few pictures of Don in the background at an event in 1992. Don was at the same table as David and Iman.

Also I think I read somewhere David was there the same night as Joe at the US festival in the 80s. I don't know if Joe was gone already by then when David hit the stage and i don't know if he was seeing Stevie at that moment. It was him, then Stevie and David was last. So that answered my question of if any of the guys crossed paths with David over the years.

Here's a picture of Don in the background.

Don looks good, too.

I can only reiterate what others have said here. I was stunned to hear about David's passing. It is so sad to lose another rock 'n roll legend - he will be missed. My heart goes out to David's devoted wife Iman and his children, as well as his friends and fans at this sad time.

R.I.P. David Bowie

And BTW - thanks for that picture, shun.
