"I've realized now that there are adult rock stars" "you don't have to quit doing this when you are 30 or 35 or 40" "I'll always make music-I gotta do it"

That to me summed up Mr. Frey perfectally.

That's a good one. Or his quote about being a band for all ages - that would put his life's work in context for the viewers who may not be as familiar with Eagles music.

Perhaps this should be in the Glenn Frey Memorable Sayings thread.

you can...

I just thought of it when the Grammy assoc just played that random clip that really didn't mean much of anything in their "tribute"

This would have been much more meaningful.

I actually liked the clip they used because it was Glenn talking about how he love singing harmonies. I have to say though that the "band for all times" quote I think would have been appropriate too.

I agree with sad-cafe that there are clips more communicative of Glenn's career than the "I love singing with other people" bit that they used, but it wasn't bad. I just wished they hadn't cut into him mid-sentence, but that was a technical gaffe presumably.

Actually, the most perfect clip would have been the "Being in The Eagles was a fucking blast" from HOTE , IMO.

It was kinda nice idea, it spotlighted the Eagles most distinctive trait- their harmonies which Glenn arranged but IMO Glenn dished out some great concise quotes that couldve worked. Tryin think of another ..

But the tribute was to Glenn himself, not to the Eagles, even if the singing harmonies part reflected his Lone Arranger status.

There was no way they were going to use 'being in the f*ing Eagles'. But they could have used what he said at the end... 'I was proud to be the leader of the Eagles & Don Henley's partner'.

I feel his lone arranger status was unique enough to him, it showed his greatest contribution to the band, or maybe they should have just done a quick video montage of him singin his hit songs before; that wouldve been nice
