Save the dates - April 29 & 30, 2016. I've learned that the RRHoF in Cleveland will announce on Monday their plans for a two-day celebration of the Eagles and GLENN in April! Don't know what they have on the agenda but it should be an exciting and fun event. Keep an eye on their website for details and registration information. I think there are a number of members here on The Border who are in close proximity and will no doubt make the trip! If I learn any more before Monday I'll add it here.

Cool! I was literally last night tentatively planning with my dad to go down to the RRHOF at some point this spring! Guess I know when I'll be going! :)

ETA: Since today is Monday am I to assume you mean the announcement is coming NEXT Monday?

Thanks for posting that, VOL. I heard something about this as well, but was waiting to hear more details. If this tribute is sponsored or organized by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I will definitely be there.

Wow, that's so great they are doing this!!! :D I live in Columbus and I'm going to have to tell my family about this as I know they probably will want to go too. Like I said before my parents and majority of my aunts and uncles are Eagles fans and raised us on their music. I've wanted to go to the RRHOF for years even though I've been to Cleveland before, just not there. Two of my uncles actually went to George Jones' public funeral in Nashville so they've done road trips like this before, and even longer ones for concerts, and I could totally see us getting a group together to go depending on what they announce.

I don't live anywhere near Cleveland but this would be the perfect excuse to visit :)

That's great of the RnRHOF to do this. I hope that some borderers are able to attend!

I'm in between jobs right now. I would entertain the idea of going. I was at the RROF way back when it first opened. I would love to go back!

Are you sure this is sponsored by the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame? I can't find anything about it on the website (http://www.rockhall.com/).

I saw on Facebook a fan posting about putting something together, but there's a big difference between a fan organizing an event and an official event.

I was wondering the same thing Soda..I think they're referring to the fans gathering..

I changed the thread title to reflect it. If you want to go to a fan gathering, that's great, but just be aware that you're not going to anything official.

Thanks Soda for clearing that up. I can't say I'm not disappointed re: this not be an official RRHOF event but it won't change my plans: I'll still get down to Cleveland this spring. I'll probably just avoid April 29-30 with the unknown amount of people that get together could bring.

I'm a bit disappointed too as I thought it was an official thing. I can see how that FB post could be taken that way. Even though I've lived in Ohio my whole life I've still never been to the HOF yet, but one of these days I will.

Just in case anyone is interested, here is the event page. (Found it by accident on Google)

Oh well. I thought that was a quick organization of a something. I was hoping we would get to see "old Black".

That's nice that some fans are doing their own thing.

Well - This is a disappoint to me as well. I don't really do Facebook, so this isn't really of any interest to me. I'm sure it'll be fun for those who are active in the Eagles' Facebook communities though and I hope they have a good turnout.

My sincere apologizes to everyone for not being clearer in my original post. I didn't mean to imply the event was sponsored or sanctioned by the RRHoF and in my haste to get the word out I was less precise than I should have been. While RRHoF isn't the sponsor they are providing the location for registration and allowing attendees to hold a vigil/memorial. Their willingness to be a party to a privately organized event is admirable and, IMO, speaks volumes to their recognition and acknowledgement of Glenn's contributions as well as his lengthy career in the industry.

Are you affiliated with this event? Do you know the person who is organizing it?

Also - I'm confused. It was 'Victim of Love' that started this thread - are you one and the same?

For those of you who would like to know more about the event, here is the reply I received from the organizer, Linda Belding-Des Forges, when I commented on a link to the event that was posted on my personal Facebook page. I asked the woman who posted the link on my page if she knew where the money was going. I was concerned about whether or not profit was being made, and that there was no accountability since the funds were being collected by a private individual. Again, I did all of this on my own personal page, not on one of the many fan groups where the event has been posted. See below for Ms. Forges' response:
"There is always someone that needs to bitch and moan about things others are doing for the good of people. I am very insulted at your accusations. How dare you speak badly of me when you do not even know me. I really don't feel your comments dignify any answers but I am going to give you apparently what you feel you need to know. I would like to first off ask if you were so "in" with Mr. Frey why aren't you doing something for the fans and laying out you money for deposits and hope to get it back??? Yes, we are getting a group rate which is passed directly onto the fans, the band needs to be paid and housed at a hotel, (Please call them if you want the pricing) there are appetizers for two nights, the keepsake admission tag and lanyard for discounts through out the city of Cleveland. So for 60.00 for only Saturday or $75.00 for Friday and Saturday is more than reasonable. Oh and if there is any left over money (which I doubt) I have set up a fund to donate in Glenn's name to the Lupus Foundation. Apparently, we are not like you and will do things as a labor of love or for no monetary rewards for the Fans and to honor the 40 plus years of Glenn Frey and the Eagles. So instead of harassing the fine ladies that are helping you could have contacted me or go on the Eventbrite registration it is all there. It is not like my information is not out there. Exactly what difference is it to you? Please if you are going to complain leave the site and do not come to the event. This is for positive people that want to do something good."

So... you can decide for yourself whether you wish to give this woman your money, but I'm afraid I've been turned off of it.

However, I still hope those of you who choose to go have a great time.

Wow! That's too bad that she is being so defensive when you inquired about how the money was going to be spent. Why in the world didn't she just voluntarily disclose this information up front? Instead of being offended, I would think she would want to put folks at ease and let them know that she is accountable for how their money will be spent. I certainly wouldn't accuse her of any wrong-doing without proof, but she should understand that being forthcoming and nice goes a lot farther in building the trust of folks (and in some cases, strangers) when you are asking them to send you money.

But, in spite of ths, I also hope that everyone going has a great time.
