Got my tickets this morning in the Live Nation pre sale.
Went for the Platinum tix.
We saw Don last year in Los Angeles for the Cass County tour
So really looking forward to this.
Also have tickets for Hyde Park but may not be able to
get near the stage.

Why are these available in the UK but not in Ireland?

Just wanted to thank everyone for the advice you've given me elsewhere on this board. I've decided to go for it and I've got two platinum tickets for this show! I'm really looking forward to it, I'm sure it will be great. :blueblob: I'm very excited to see what the setlist will bring, I'm hoping for a couple of rare gems but I'd still be very pleased just to hear the big hits.
As a first timer to any Eagles-related show, does anyone have any specific advice about going to the concert? I've not been to many shows before so I'm bit of a rookie compared to some of you and don't want to miss any good tricks. Thanks!

What are you worried about, JCL? I'm so glad you're going - I know all of you guys are going to have a great time.

Ah, I wasn't worried as such, just thinking about things like the camera policy and wanted to know if there was anything else I like that I should know of before going. Really it's more about my parents (whichever one of them goes with me, I think both would be happy to go) - I know about what Don does and doesn't like at his shows but they might not be so aware. My sister has been to four Taylor Swift shows and whichever parent has gone has sometimes filmed certain performances. I respect Don's wishes and have no desire to annoy him! :-)
Thank you, I'm sure we will enjoy it. Can't wait!

Jonny, my advice is to try to soak in as much as you can, and afterward, when you get a chance, come here and post as thorough a review of your show as you can. Not only will you be benefiting other Borderers who want to read about your show, but you'll always have a record of your experience. Memories fade over time, and I can't tell you how many times I've gone back and read my reviews here for the Eagles shows I went to. I wrote such specifics that looking back at them always puts a smile on my face!

JCL, just go and plan on having a wonderful experience!
I would take my camera, but don't try to take any pics till maybe towards the end and don't even try to film anything! I wonder if Don will have the 'sitting' policy? Probably! Just watch, listen, and enjoy as much as possible! I would also try to get there a little early and check out the souvenir area.

Congrats, JCL & PhilH! JCL - I'm glad you decided to go to a show. I don't think Don will disappoint either of you. Can't wait to hear all about it.

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate your encouraging words - it probably doesn't come across on the forum often but if you meet me in person I'm not very outgoing and don't tend to push hard enough to get what I truly want so it's great that you've helped me come out of my shell so to speak. I'm excited already and as both my parents like Don and the Eagles I'm sure whichever one of them comes along will enjoy it too. And thanks Brooke for the advice about camera policy, I'll make sure my parents know when it gets a bit closer to the time.
I'm pleased to hear that he'll be doing some Eagles songs, I do love a lot of his solo music as well but this will be the first time I'd heard any of these songs live so it's very exciting for me. I'd be happy if he played a good chunk of Cass County though too, I like the album very much. I played some of the tracks from it to my parents at the weekend and it seemed to go down well, which pleased me.

I forgot to say JCL, the most important thing about the evening os to enjoy it and absorb every last second! I was a bit like you are before my first Eagles gig but once you get into it you're fine.

NMB, don't worry, I have no plans to promote Tom Petty's guitar teacher!

I'm getting excited now - just over three weeks until this show! :yay: :partytime:
I'm bumping this thread as I noticed an interesting advert for Don's UK performances in the Sunday newspaper. All of this information applies to the Glasgow show too, so if anyone wants to re-post this there do so by all means.

Two things caught my interest here. The first is that I notice that JD and the Straight Shot are the support act - I wouldn't be able to name a song by them but the name rang a bell, so in a quick search of this board I discovered that they'd previously supported both Don and the Eagles. I have to say I didn't sense much enthusiasm from people who'd seen them! Never mind, it's Don I want to see after all!
The other thing is several songs that are listed in the gold wraparound, which includes two Eagles songs as well as four of his big solo hits. Given that they have been mentioned here, I think it's highly likely that these half a dozen songs will be on the setlist. This is great, I'd love to see/hear all of them! (Personally I'm slightly surprised, but delighted to see The End of the Innocence listed) I'm excited to see which other songs he chooses to play too.

His solo songs will definitely be in there. Now the Eagles songs I don't know since he didn't have any of the Eagles songs in his setlist last year. He probably will put them back in there.
I like the ad. Looks nice.

That's not very rock n' roll JCL, some of us saw that advert in Classic Rock magazine, never mind the Sunday Times! ;) The advert in Classic Rock omits any reference to a support act however, and the specific reference to the Eagles in the description; and the tickets that arrived recently only reference 'Plus Special Guest'. I think that the choice of songs to border it do seem a bit odd, I would have thought that Desperado would be the dead cert to mention from any Eagles material, and End of the Innocence isn't I would have thought as well known as TLWE or New York Minute.
I'm expecting Don's European setlists to be a straight three-way split of Eagles, classic solo and Cass County material. Certainly, I would be disappointed if the likes of No, Thank You and New York Minute are omitted for more Eagles songs.

"Plus special guest" - hmm - maybe Mr Dolan won't remain throughout the tour? Hope springs eternal...

Wouldn't the Sunday Times ad have been prepared more recently & thus be more accurate? I would have thought the Classic Rock ad would be generic in terms of just announcing the tour?

The Sunday Times was a guess, I have no idea where it was from! But yes, I suspect that they are two separate versions of the same thing - the Classic Rock one would have been published about three weeks before the newspaper one. Interestingly, Classic Rock didn't list Don's tour in their massive listings bill on the page before!

Manchester Arena say that full searches will be in operation at all entrances so they advise that people should arrive at the venue on time.
Don's no camera/cell phone policy will be in operation which I agree with. It's so annoying to see phones being held up obstructing the view.
Doors open at 18:30.

Thanks for the info, it's about an hour away from where I live and it's great to know that so we can get there in good time. Getting very excited now, just a few days to go! Very happy with the set list too - that encore takes some beating!
Edit: Just received the two tickets in the post this morning! :yay: I'll be in block E btw.

Just received my tickets and the postman (in his 50's) said "Who are you going to see then"?
I replied "Don Henley from the Eagles".
The postman replied "Never heard of either of them".
How can a guy in his 50's not know of the Eagles??!!

Had an email from Ticketmaster saying
"The artist respectfully requests that concert goers do not under any circumstances film or take photographs of the show, including using a mobile phone or tablet.
The artist prefers that you enjoy the show unmediated, and cameras will not be permitted into the venue. Your cooperation with this request would be greatly appreciated."
I hope fans adhere to Don's request out of respect to Don and being surrounded by phones is so annoying. Does anyone think the use of phones to take pictures or video is ok? The no phone policy at gigs seems to be growing fortunately.

Lately, Don is letting the audience take pictures and film Hotel California. If they behave. LOL His words not mind. LOL He's probably going to continue this for the rest of tour.
So even though they said no filming or taking pictures, Don will let them take pictures during Hotel California. Its better than nothing, but a video or picture is always taken from their shows.

I think it's a good strategy. There was some ill will being generated by the hard core policy. Telling people "just wait until Hotel California" is a lot nicer and people will be less likely to break the rules if they know they'll get a chance later.
It's quite clever. Kudos to Don for thinking outside of the box. Now if he could just resist the urge to rant... lol
Now if he could just resist the urge to rant... lol
Doubt that will ever happen as long as Google/Youtube exist - it keeps him going and us entertained
I'm delighted that I can finally get some photos of Don - just hope that I get a good view for them !! 5 days to go :-)
