Actually, tie, this photo was taken at the press conference the guys did for the HFO European tour. You can see the HFO devil behind Glenn. If you have the HOTE DVD, it is the press conference where Glenn and Don pretend like they are going to get up and leave when Irving says that European tours aren't as lucrative as those in the U.S.

I've watched the HOTE documentary on DVD from my local library over six times this year and this image of Glenn is burned in my memory. Oh to have been alive in the 70s and be in my 20's to see The Eagles live in concert ~ with Dan Fogelberg in those days!

I think it was for a big promotional thing for Pepsi. You can kind of see part of a Pepsi logo in the photo, and it's around the time he did those Pepsi commercials with Don Johnson.

Another "new to me" photo. Bought a photo promo photo from Historic Images off eBay. Half of the page is a photo I think we've all seen. But I hadn't seen this one before, taken by Henry Diltz. Notes say "Glenn Frey. With Dick Clark's World of Music for week of Oct. 31, 1982 (Pop Profile)". (I'll get the full promo set scanned in here sometime today... maybe.)

I remember watching that first episode of SOS on tv and thinking "Oh God poor Glenn" ! That first episode was terrible. It was a shame the network did not give the show a better chance. But, like Dreamer and other have said, we would have no HFO. It worked out for the best in the end.

TE - I have seen pictures where his blue eyes jump out at you. I think it depends on the lighting when the picture was taken. As far as I know, he never wore contacts lenses.

He could easily have not needed glasses until he was in his fifties. My husband never needed glasses until he hit his fifties. (Then I had to hear him grumble about wearing them. One day I finally told him to stop; I've been wearing glasses since I was twelve.)

I never wore glasses till I was 50 or so and then it took me 10 years to make myself wear them. They are a pain! Tried contacts, but couldn't take them either.

I thought I saved the photo that I remember seeing, but I can't find it. It may have come off of one of the family member's social media sites, which is why we don't normally post them on the board.

And, BTW, I've been wearing glasses since I was 6 years old so I can't remember much about life without them. I tried contacts several times, but I have severe astigmatisms in both eyes so they work for me.

I remember seeing a photo of Glenn wearing glasses. He was in his late 50's or early 60's. I think I saw it here but not sure. I have needed glasses since I was six. I started wearing contacts when I was a senior in HS. Switched back to glasses a few years ago as I have dry eyes which makes wearing the contacts painful. It was hard to give up the contact after wearing them for so many years.

Yep - Me too, CA.

Something very sad just occurred to me as I went back and looked at the picture. I realized the photo was dated August, 2015, which means this was probably one of the last public photos ever taken of Glenn. The HOTE tour ended on July 29, 2015 so this must have been taken shortly before Glenn left for Hawaii. Of course, Glenn became ill in Hawaii in August or September and headed back to L.A. for treatment. And, sadly, we are all painfully familiar with the rest of the story. :weep:

Thanks everyone, these are some great pictures! Glenn had so much going for him including a very strong work ethic and life long appreciation and respect for the many people he called "friend" over his remarkable career. Glenn was truly one of the good guys. And he is forever loved and missed.

Hi so I recently found this promotional glossy of Longbranch Pennywhistle for the pre- Eagles Glenn Images section to use.
It's fascinating to me as I always wanted and up close shot of Glenn from this era as the one sof them performing in a club aren't very close. JD looks so much younger and different but Glenn looks very similar to how we would get to know him 72 onwards so I find it veyr interesting! Hope you guys do too!

No, and I did some searches on "Glennbo" and a couple of reverse image searches on the photo itself. Nothing came up under Glennbo (and I'm guessing it's a riff on Rambo), and the reverse image search just brought up more photos of Glenn and late seventies Sam Elliott.
