I don't know if I'm the only tennis fan here, but this made me so sad. I used to watch a lot of women's tennis in the 90s and Jana had a terrific serve-and-volley game.

I'm a huge tennis fan and very sad that Jana's passing merited so little attention in the UK media. She was a Wimbledon champion and only 49. Thanks for mentioning her, NMB.

49 is far to young to die. RIP.

Oh wow,I had not seen this. I’m a big tennis fan. I ran into her at a tournament in South Carolina many years ago when she was in her prime. She was walking around. I remember thinking that she was so much lovelier in person than she appeared on TV when she was playing a match. Quiet, sweet, pretty. She was a great competitor. Thanks NMB. RIP Jana.
P.s. I think everyone looks younger, smaller, and softer in real life than they do on tv!
Tragic news, she was a tremendous athlete and worked very hard to achieve her goals. RIP Jana, you inspired countless individuals and will never be forgotten.

OT: I think you have something there, Mary! To my eyes, Venus Williams is an absolute beauty in person with very fine, regal features but on tv she looks kind of plain, IMO.
Did you go to the Family Circle Cup on Hilton Head? That is one I wish I attended; what a lovely location.

So you get to see the men play as well. My favorite player for several years is Roger Federer.
