Hey all, i have been doing research on Felder (my favorite) for a while, and i have noticed, that towards the end of their 1980 tour, before they took a break, Felder was NOT using his famous white gibson double neck for hotel california, instead he was using a different guitar, does anyone know why? i find it odd that he switched it out. If you listen to the 1980 santa monica version of hotel california, the opening riffs do sound different, he even used it during the infamous "long night in wrong beach" concert. Just wondering does anyone know why he may have used another guitar, i will attach a photo of the red guitar he used instead. and yes, that photo is from their last concert in long beach. thanks!

This topic may be best in the Felder forum, but it's borderline and could go either way, so I'll leave it here.

As far as your question, FF - I don't have any idea ... could be as simple as the guys seem to like mixing up instruments a lot. They still do it to this day.

Interesting. Of course the may have been times when he had to have it fixed and used a spare guitar for the song. Austin, you know anything about this? 😁

The guitar is a custom guitar.

Felder talks about it on this Facebook post (which should still load even if you don't have FB).
