So I was able to hear the whole thing before going to work Yay!:blueblob: It went by so fast! I listened via iHeartRadio. Right out the gate he went with LED ZEP “good times bad times” and the playlist was all over the map which I found great and refreshing, I wish he talked a bit more, yet he sounded great and can’t wait until next week. I recommend it! Of course :grooving:

Unsure if it’ll be made available for listening later on, so I don’t want to give too many spoilers, but he included “Ohio” and spoke of Kent State, and songs included surprised me including Kate Bush “Running Up That Hill”. I haven’t heard in years, so cool! Looking forward to next week!

Yay! There's a replay button on the web site! Just go to the bottom of the article.

Hi all! Here's all of Joe's in-studio bits from Episode 2. I will try to post his segments as often as I can. Highlights from this week's show were him playing "No Peace in the Jungle" from "Got Any Gum" and "Good Man Down" from "The Confessor"! Also, his wife Marjorie hopped on for a moment to introduce Joe's jam session with Little Richard ("But I Try") from "Analog Man".

Great show!

Hi all! Here's Joe's in-studio bits from Episode 3, which include the debut of a character named Bob. Joe played "Bubbles" from "The Confessor" and "India" (again) from "Analog Man". Most importantly however, he played an unreleased recording of him and Jim Varney (!!) playing a cover of Lee Michaels' "Do You Know What I Mean"! I pulled the full song from the recording, and uploaded that separately.

Listened live this week...some times my stream dropped due to dead spots on way to work:x, but it was still fun. He replayed some songs from previous airings...guess he really liked them ha ha. He played Last Good time in Town, said (I’m paraphrasing) it was lost in the middle of Long Road Out Of Eden. The set list was all over the place, which I enjoy...even played YMCA by the village people. Very cool that he played Split Decision his colab with Steve Winwood. I wish he would chat a bit more. Can’t wait until next week. :applause::heart::applause:🎸 full show link here https://www.885fm.org/programs/joe-walshs-old-fahsioned-rocknroll-radio-show/

OK here's the in-studio bits for episode 4. He opened the show with his solo version of "In the City", and as KingWalsh mentioned, he later played "Last Good Time in Town" from "Long Road Out of Eden". He also played "A Life of Illusion" and "One Day at a Time" later in the show. But again as mentioned, the highlight of the night was hearing him discuss how he helped Steve Winwood produce "Split Decision" (great song!). I also wish he would chat a bit more when playing stuff like that! In any case, another good show.

Awesome! Thanks, Nancy! It's been awhile since I've popped in over here. Glad to see the forum still going strong : )

So here's the in-studio bits for episode 5. He was a little quiet this go 'round. He played Jay Ferguson's "Thunder Island" (which he plays guitar on -- learn more about that here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAtOWYRziyI)), but he didn't say much about the song. And near the end of the show, he thanked Bob Dylan for his kind words about "Pretty Maids All in a Row". Hopefully Joe will have some better commentary this weekend.

Here are the in-studio bits from last Saturday's show. Joe played a few interesting selections from his history -- "Teenage Jail" from his days with the Eagles, Henley's "Dirty Laundry" (afterwards he talks about recording the guitar solo on that one), and a track called "Six Strings from Hell", which he recorded with Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. Did not know Joe recorded music with Paul, so it was interesting to learn that. By my count, that's *two* musical side-projects of corporate moguls that Joe has recorded with (JD and the Straight Shot being the other). Lame, but whatever.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZY3yFUwhPk

Speaking of corporate moguls, Joe also conducted an hour-long interview with Cameron Crowe and Irving Azoff. It's a long interview, so I've uploaded that separately. I didn't listen to it because I think Irving is a scumbag, so maybe someone else can recap it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXP_z9H0-r0

Although I didn't care for the guests this week, I love what Joe is doing with this show. I hope he continues to have guests on because Joe is clearly well-liked in the industry and conversation between genuine friends makes for a great listen!

Irving Azoff is the definition of a scumbag, RamboIV.

As I said in a thread regarding Eagles 3.0 recently, there is a reason that his nickname in Hollywood is "The Poisoned Dwarf". He has chronic little man syndrome, and unfortunately is quite powerful so he gets to throw his weight around as he sees fit, from the comfort of his high-rise. He's about the size of a garden gnome, yet is seemingly the biggest giant in his own mind. Again, unfortunately, he has the money and power to get away with it but had he pulled that crap as a normal average Joe, he would have been humbled quite quickly. So he's quite lucky in that regard! It seems the people who desire control and power for all the wrong reasons are often the ones that end up with it in the end, which is disheartening but I still say with 110% confidence that Irv doesn't scare me at all. He throws lawsuits around like confetti. But if I was in the MI business, I wouldn't let him intimidate me, nor would I bend to his every demand. I think some people enable these types of people. I wouldn't want someone like that managing me, nor would I want to ever do business of any kind with them. That's the kind of guy I wouldn't take a glass of ice water from in hell! I'd rather perish knowing I didn't let him think I need him for anything. Azoff isn't the only exec like this, to be fair, obviously there are big time CEOs, leaders, and former reality TV stars who act the same. But I think I'd just laugh at Irving Azoff. He's the size of a garden gnome! Without his team of "yes-men" lawyers, he's just a baby kitten.

Joe’s show was super adorbs with Roy 3! So cute!! Joe rocked it out and got funky as usual and played a few of his own tunes, including his cover of “will you still love me tomorrow?” Nice! I wish he played his version of “love letters“ I always liked his version. Oh well. He started the question and answers segment and he was asked about his blues project. At long last, here are the in-studio bits of last Saturday's show. Joe played quite a few of his own numbers this time around. His new theme song appears to be "How Ya Doin'", the weird B-side from "Got Any Gum?". He also played Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, Waffle Stomp (from Fast Times at Ridgemont High), Analog Man, I Can Play That Rock and Roll, and the live version of "All Night Long" from Eagles Live. Also included is his "interview" with Roy Orbison III and his first "Just Ask Joe" segment. Enjoy!

Irving said he didn't know Joe was video taping it too, only audio for the show. I think it was just his height. LOL I liked when he compared the hair on the top of their heads.

He sure is scamp! This past Saturdays show was good, no guest, but some cool stories sprinkled throughout. I love how laid back he is and doesn’t “showboat” or brag. Just tells a story that ties into the song, as with the Chris Cornell story...man I would’ve loved to hear that collab!!! He did a nice tribute To Peter Green, and Played great Music as usual. Q&A, some great questions coming in...I learned the Gretsch he gave Pete Townshend was used for the “Midnight Man” recording, how cool is that?!He teased a Very special guest for tonight, and the station says you don’t want to miss, but no mention who it is? The suspense is killing me!! So looking forward to this....

I noticed Joe has been posting to Facebook all this time but not on twitter, so there are some cool.posts regarding the show there. Music was all over the map again, which is great, and played several solo songs including "Theme from Island Weirdos"...such a peaceful song IMHO, never thought I'd hear that one played. I like how he answered all the questions even the personal ones. Liked how he says when he and Marjorie would hug good bye they didn't want to let go. I wish he would have her on as a guest. She's a good match for him. It's cute how she runs to kiss him before he goes on stage for shows or how he waves to her when she's mentioned at his award ceremony for the MoPOP Founder Award. They really seem to enjoy each other.
Sometimes i'll go back and listen to past show's questions just to hear his answers. I skip through little by little till I hear him talk. Wish he'd also have Joe Vitale on. The two of them really get laughing about past history.
One of the biggest things I've noticed about Joe since getting sober as he is becoming more comfortable with his life and just enjoying it.

Here are the in-studio bits of Joe's two most recent shows. The August 22nd playlist includes "Lucky That Way" from Analog Man and also "Outside" by the Foo Fighters, which is a song Joe played guitar on. And in one of the "Just Ask Joe" segments, he tells a story about one of the James Gang's earliest gigs!

The August 29th playlist includes "Analog Man", "Indian Summer", and "Waiting in the Weeds" from LROoE. But more importantly, it features a wonderful interview with the one and only Brian Johnson of AC/DC. I don't know about you, but I could listen to the ol' dudes gab like this for hours. Great fun!

Can’t wait to listen this week! I enjoyed the AXS interview these two did so I know this’ll be great! I wonder how many questions he gets per week? I wonder if he just skims through the most recent? Should I re-ask? Maybe mine are burried ? Come on Joe answer my question!

i couldn’t agree more scamp! Their backstory....I was like wow. Funny how life is sometimes. Things can get so tangled and messy and then viola! And yes!! Where is Vitale?? Hopefully he’ll be on soon. His book was a blast and such a great collection of pix. I asked Joe about the John Lennon and Ringo Jam that Vitale mentions in the book. Also a few others. Ha ha. Maybe one day! Marjorie would be a great guest too, maybe she’s shy? How about Lucy? I wonder how his boys are...how about , Don, Timothy, Szymczyk?

I don't think Marjorie is that shy but I do think she is just hanging in the background, you know, just letting Joe be Joe. In his wrap-up videos you can see her dancing on the stage and Ringo's birthday video she's doing most all the talking and sings with Joe.
One thing I have noticed in some interviews he really hangs on to her tight. A couple times I've seen her answer questions instead of Joe. Ringo will deflect some of the questions from Joe too. Joe is slow answering questions sometimes especially when they catch him off guard such as not being about the event they are attending or such. When he talks about ham radios or guitars and amps he's fine in fact he seems to try to keep his words so others will understand and not be so technical.
They seem to be happy together and you never see one with out the other. I'll bet when Joe goes over to Ringo's to record, she goes with him and visit her sister and they are very close. It must be nice when Ringo needs a guitar part he gets on the phone can calls Joe and he's there in half hour ready to play. LOL

Joe's interview with David Crosby was good. I wish he could video more of them like he did with Crowe. I did see Crosby's show that they talked about. It was nice seeing him going around the old area pointing thins and places out and talking about his health. I recorded it so I can watch it again. I got a chance to see David when it was just Crosby and Stills at the Troubadour. Saw a lot of great people there when they were just starting out including Don and Glenn.

He had the interview at the end this time, and it was very cool. Laid back. I’m on the east coast Scamp, born in 76, so jealous you got to experience all that.

Joe’s show Saturday was without a guest but he gave a pretty cool rundown on the talk box. At first I was like ugh not another talk box question, but his explanation was great to hear. Great songs played as usual including “The Radio Song”(Under appreciated in my opinion) “These Days”—Jackson Brown, and a group of some of his favorite guitar instrumentals. This upcoming Saturday will feature Stuart Copeland from The Police.

I like the way he's playing so many artist. Sometimes I hear a song and have to look to see who's singing it.
Being born and raised in Los Angeles Hollywood was a favorite place to go. There used to be so many places where bands played It was a great music time. Also a great drinking time.Sometimes I wouldn't remember the drive home or who I saw. Mondays at the Troubadour was the best. Cheaper to get in and they had "Hoot" time when anyone could play. Seeing some of the people when they were just starting out and forming into groups they are now was great. Joe played more at the Whiskey, it was well known for it's rock shows. AC/DC, Motley Crew and of course Joe. Hard rowdy rock and roll. I feel Lucky to have been able to see it.

I agree with you about the talk box question. When I heard the question being asked, i rolled my eyes and thought damn somebody else already asked that a few weeks back. But it was cool when he went in depth about how it works. Then he started to play a little bit of Rocky Mountain Way and I got excited because I love that song. Then he went and played something else, and I laughed and yelled at my computer speakers "You tease! Nobody likes a tease, Joe!"

I also enjoy when he plays a song where I have to refer to the playlist, Scamp, this week's gem (besides the Joe solo songs and Eagles of course ) was Dorothy Moore "Misty Blue". The show this past week was so good. Tons of songs I haven’t heard. And hearing Jimmy Fox was soooooooo cool. I love them talking music, tech and such and then to have “Fred” play OMG. Love that under rated gem. The tone....impeccable! I had a gap after “Fred” of maybe 10 min where nothing played, next song being by The Killers...did anyone else experience that? Hoping I didn’t miss anything. Some cool Just Ask Joe questions regarding guitars and such too.

Rambo....if he has Felder I wouldn’t know what I’d do! I have to say when he mentioned a “very special guest” a few weeks back I had that thought in my head...but it wound up being Edge. Nice dude, but I set my hopes too high. I don’t think he will have Felder on unfortunately....but he has been knocking it out of the park with guests! And....

This weekend he is gonna have Taylor Hawkins from Foo Fighters. :blueblob:Omg!! I love the Foos and Taylor’s side project Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders!! Check em out folks if you haven’t very cool. Joe was on “Get the Money” which was also inspired by Joe’s BB king story and convo with Taylor. I CANT WAIT

Give it a listen! An amazing interview regarding the backstory of the kickin song "Get the Money" including the technique Joe used for the guitar solo at the end. Great conversation regarding band dynamics and such, a fun Joe "disturbing the peace" at a restaurant story as well!

He played an eclectic set, and had some Just Ask Joe questions, one he answered saying rock is dead! Say it ain’t so Joe! He played “Half of the Time” off Got Any Gum...I dig this song, especially now. It sounded different for some reason...better speakers? Remastered? Idk.....He ended the show with a send off for Eddie Van Halen and played “The Friend Song”. My eyes got tearful:sad:

Hard to believe it's been twenty shows already...LOL To Him it must seem like that daily job Joe says he thought that's what sober people did. Maybe he'll go play with Stuart and bring back some tapes, wouldn't that be great!!!
Joe said he had some jam tapes that have never been played that he might put on the show sometime..I hope he finds them.
Unfortunately Joe is right, Rock and Role as we know it is dead. You just don't see groups playin git anymore it seems. But there is hope. My neighbor's son is a fantastic guitar player and a lot of kids his age in the high school advance music program are into rock. So maybe a new generation will play some.
I wish he'd finish his book. It would be interesting to see how Joe became Joe and how he see things. Life according to Joe.
Maybe when he comes back on he'll do more streaming interviews. It's nice to see him and who's he interviewing. So glad we can go back and listen to his past shows. Sometimes I go to the play list and replay songs, some of his and some of others I didn't remember.

I thought about asking him on days when he doesn't have a guest maybe at the end of the show he could have a question answer time and answer 5 or 10 more questions besides what he answers during the show. I think that would be neat.

YOO-HOO! And we're back with more Joe! First up is the show with Dewey Bunnell (from America) as the guest. Songs of note from that show were Don's "Sunset Grill" and Frankie Miller's "Guilty of the Crime". Otherwise, Joe didn't play any of his own material this week.

And secondly, here's this past weekend's show with guest Randy Meisner! Joe skipped his own catalog again (except for "A Flock Of Wah Wah's"), and before the interview, he answers a listen question about addiction, which makes for a rare serious turn on the show. Always interesting to hear Joe opine on that.

Joe played a couple of Randy's Eagles songs during the interview, so there wasn't much actual dialogue. But it was still pretty cool to hear Randy and Joe reminisce for a bit.

Randy looks like he's had a very rough time lately. He's had alcohol problems as well as mental health issues. In 2013-2014 he was in the hospital after swallowing, chocking on some food. He was in a coma for a while too. The Eagles picked up the bill paying all of his hospital bills.
Wonder if Joe was aware of Randy's condition and kept the interview short. At times it sounded like Randy was having trouble speaking. Perhaps Joe will have him on again, that would be nice.
Interview are hard because you don't want to have a long silence in one on the air. I think that is why Joe asks so many questions and does the "remember when" too. He did the same with Linda because of her condition. Of course we don't hear all the phone call so we can only speculate on how long he really talks to them.
I wish he's do more of the video interviews like with Irving and Crowe. They are harder because both parties have to be set up. When you think of all the people he knows from the Rock Era he could have a lot of interviews. I wish he's play some of the "jam" tapes he said he has. He was going to go over them so maybe soon.
Praying they all stay safe during these times.

hi Scamp, I listened and it was great. I love doo-wop. I remember fondly listening to Big D 103-WDRC back in the day With my Dad and they would play on Saturday night I think 50s and such. So a lot of those I was boppin right along too. My son loves “yakety yak” and “rubber biscuit” :)

Joe has great stories throughout via Just Ask Joe questions, and I loved the way he gave the rundown on Jerry Lee Lewis marriages in the beginning LOL. Another stand out for me was the rundown on the “flange” recording style/production. I’m a sucker for guitar and flange, I use it a lot when playing. Hi KingWalsh
The week before his show I was singing some of those songs when I was walking the dog. LOL Wayward Wind is a favorite of mine as my Grandmother used to play it all the time on her piano.
I like the acoustic version of HC too. When you watch them do it on the HFT Joe looks a little nervous. I can only imagine how he must have felt. His first time in his life performing sober and playing a Spanish style which he usually doesn't do. If you watch the show you can see his fingers on his left hand shaking. Still a little rough just out of rehab and all. Joe's not really known as a nylon string guitar player but he also has played it on Paul McCartney's album too.
I like when he explains how things are done when recording or playing. I'd like to see him a video on pedals. Nothing fancy just some basics, like what pedals do, is there a order they should be hooked up in and maybe a little sample play on them.
Maybe one day he'll interview Steve Luke or Waddy. I think he and Waddy could really talk about Troubadour history.

He's pretty vague about the future of the show in the last episode, but it seems he is not done with radio hosting. Whatever the case, I think he did a great job with this show! It's been one of the most unique ways an artist has utilized their free time during this pandemic, and a real joy to listen to. Great interviews & tunes all year!

Couldn’t agree more Rambo. His show has been a joy. So refreshing. He had great stories this past week (12/19) and even talked about how he met Joe Vitale and the rockets Vitale and him used to mess around with and gave more detail regarding the solo song “Rockets”. Nice. Vitale has cool pics regarding the rockets in his book. He played “Has Anyone Ever Written Anything for You” by Stevie...I couldn’t believe it. :o Funny commentary regarding Pablo Cruise....I thought it was a guy too  he played a track he was on Bill Wyman’s solo album. That was cool, along with his solo song “Things” with a little backstory, also. It was a fun show and he was more chatty.

I am obviously behind hoping to get Dec 26 episode in today. His Facebook post was so cute. Keep rocking Joe!

So listened to last show of the year Dec 26. He played 40 greatest records and I was surprised how many were from 80s. Cool show. Not much talking but it appears he will be taking a break from the show, understandably, and I get the impression that he won't be weekly anymore, since he said "on the periphery". We all know he wants to get out and make music/ tour/ appearances so that would be tough doing a show+. I truly enjoyed his radio show and will miss it. Here's to 2021!

I think they all are getting a little anxious. Originally the Eagles were going to pick up their schedule where they left off. I think they were planning the first show in Sept (?) which would mean they would start rehearsing around mid summer maybe. Now the way things are going here in CA there may not be any live shows till 2022, gasp.
I have to think that as bad as it has been on us not having any live music it must be worse for them especially Joe who lives to play and perform. It helps keep him sober. Keeps him out of his "dark place" as he calls it. Plus it doesn't help that we're all getting older and it may seem like their careers are passing them by.
I'd like to see Joe do one more show and just answer all the "Ask Joe" that haven't been answered. He could have some music playing in the background maybe.
Perhaps he'll work more on his book or maybe another album He wanted to do a Blues one. He could do so many thing a with smaller group. There are so many great players and singers close by him that they could get together and still stay isolated Maybe after he gets vaccinated
I could see Steve Luke, Timothy and Ringo just to start. There are so many I can't even think of names right now. Whats the guy he interviewed? Said he'd get tested and maybe they could jam.
