I think he would look so much better if he would cut his hair. Slicked back in a ponytail or half ponytail and gray just doesn't help him at all. The rest of the guys dye their hair. But he's not performing and probably doesn't really care about being gray. A good haircut by itself would do wonders. Jmo!

Thanks again for the welcome. I know very little about Randy's personal life but when I see images of him in the late eighties or videos of him on YouTube a decade after he left the Eagles I feel as if he needed a stylist, or a good woman, to groom him. He sort of looks neglected. I love his white shoes, check shirts, denim jeans, long hair and he was deliciously skinny and his good looks as well as amazing voice and onstage presence were part of the whole package so from being, for me and many others, the main attraction he let himself go.

I also enjoyed his stillness when he performed with the Eagles. Eyes closed, concentrating on the bass and the songs. Out on his own he must have been told to jig about a bit, smile more and keep his eyes open. It doesn't seem as if this came naturally to him.

I bet you're right. It must have bern very difficult for someone with self-professed shyness to attempt to carry an entire show by himself, and it must have been made even harder if he was told to behave in a way he wasn't comfortable with.

I think the same, It's gratifying to see him in the videos of 1973. I think that from the output of Leadon, Randy began to be unhappy, from there his face in the videos reflects insecurity and sadness, but I think that makes him look even more attractive, by the desire to comfort him.

The saddest thing is that I did not know of the existence of Randy until I saw the documentary "History of the eagles" a month ago. When I saw him singing live "take it to the limit" was an arrow straight to my heart. What a fool! I thought Frey sang that song!

Hello everyone. I have been dipping into this site for a couple of years and decided to take the leap & register. I think all of you would understand what I mean when I say I am a huge Randy Meisner fan. It's a audio-vocal love affair that I've needed to confess to since 1972 when I was so much younger, thinner and easily infatuated. If I could go back in time this man would be a major target and I may have become a groupie - but I got married and started a family instead. To cure my Randy fix I have been hunting for old videos & DVDs - what a journey that has been! I've even gotten my husband hooked on his voice. This photo thread is a feast for my eyes. yes indeed! The recent documentary has only increased interest in him. He is so adorable in it! I love the "Meisnettes" name some have adopted. Very clever - and I believe it is the first time we've had a subgroup designation!

Before I saw the documentary, I didn't know much about Randy but afterwards, I was hooked. He really has a great voice. 'Take It To The Limit' is my #1 'Go To' song by the Eagles. I never ever tire of hearing it. I also love 'Try and Love Again'.

I'm mostly a Joe fan but just wanted to throw in my two cents about Randy. I really wish he was well enough to do the tour. Can you imagine what that might have been like if it had transpired? Holy crap!

On the 'Tryin' YouTube video he does some great pelvic thrusts (am I allowed to say such suggestive things in here?) and considering English isn't your first language Juana you show an amazing way with words and imagination. I also think this picture is adorable. I believe it was originally found on Randy's first wife's Facebook page. I'm guessing this must have been taken around Christmas time in 1974. It looks like they are Santa figurines on the shelf above the sofa and Eric and Heather look to be around 3 or 4 years old to me. Randy's hair and weight look about right for that time period. His shirt might also be a clue, but I don't know exactly when that was issued. Anybody, know for sure?

Those Christmas ornaments are so 1970s and remind me of some of the stuff Yankee Candles sell alongside their delicious candles of course. We love your Yankee Candles here in the UK:)

I agree! I love the way his eyes crinkle when he gives you that knowing smile, the way he shakes his head a little when he is feeling the music and his sweet, humble ways, but most of all I love that VOICE. It makes me sad that I missed seeing him and his talent at its peak but regardless of that, I love him still. Quite simply put, I'm a Randy Meisner fan for the long haul.

I have been reading your thread for the last month and I love all the enthusiasm for Randy. I saw the Eagles in 1975 in Tampa. It is a moment I will never forget. The man is just gorgeous and takes my breath away:heart:. I am going to the concert in Tampa in November but it has never been the same for me since he left. I don't post often but he is well worth taking time out of my busy day to send some love to.

I would like to know but I think it would be difficult being married to such a good looking man where so many women are just waiting to take him away. Marriage is complex anyway without that piece further complicating things. In my fantasy, he is a perennial bachelor, always available!

I too find everything about him extremely appealing. I love his body language; the way he walks, stands, smiles, tosses his head back and closes his eyes while singing, just everything. Even him in a sweaty shirt. When I watch the Eagles on video, I will almost try not to look at him, not to obsess, and will look at Glenn (also good looking and love his voice), but I can't do it for long because my eyes will always go and LOCK on Randy, even if he is in the background. Well, I am in good company here! I have watched the HOTE many times but now I only watch the first part until Randy leaves the band. I get kind of sad after that and yes, I seem to have memorized the parts of it that show him, so I fast forward to those for my Randy fix.

I have watched the You Tube video of the R&R Hall of Fame induction when they sing together on Take It Easy. I think Randy still looks handsome there in his tux and bow tie. He smiles "that smile" a few times while they are singing. (Sigh)

When you watch HOTE, do you notice right before the part comes up that Randy is leaving they are playing Try and Love Again in the background. It just breaks my heart when I hear it.

I get that same feeling when I watch this part of the HOTE and hear that song. I know it seems silly, but I get sad when it gets close to the part where he leaves.

Does anyone know if Randy ever (in later years) regretted leaving the band? I know when he left he did what he felt was best at that time.

Nice. That is some eye candy. I don't know if he regretted it. I have wondered that too. I wish we had more answers, but he has always been so private, that I don't think we will every really know everything that happened and the timing of it.

I agree Thrill. Since this is the 40th anniversary, it would have been nice if they had a video of Randy singing it, rather than a live version with Glenn singing it, which is just not as good. Hope you have a wonderful time at the show!!

The Meisnettes get the first concert review. The concert was absolutely great. It was so good to see Bernie. He sang Train Leaves Here This Morning and I loved every minute of it. Bernie played on the first 12 songs and then came back for the final 3. I loved Doolin-Dalton/Desperado, it gave me goosebumps. Those Shoes brought the house down, it was very funky. Do we still say that? Don still has the golden voice. So strong and clear. OOTN was my favorite along with Life In the Fast Lane. They dedicated TITTL to Randy and mentioned that he had had some health problems. Timothy still sounds so good, I Can't Tell You Why was beautiful. Glenn did a good job on Tequila Sunrise and Heartache tonight, I really liked both of those. Joe stole the show. His playing on In The City and Funk 49 was unbelievable. My son had never seen them in concert, he got free tickets through his work. He said he had never been to a concert where the band played 25 songs and everyone in the crowd knew every word to every song. He said It Was Amazing!!!!! They played for almost 3 hours. Could not have asked for anything more. Loved It!

Moonlight, how was your day? I had a difficult day. Today is my Mom's Birthday. I bought her flowers and then took them to the cemetery. My mom died on June 6, 2013 from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. My sister and I spent the day with our step-dad so that he was not alone. I miss her very much.

I am so sorry about you losing your mom, especially to this kind of disease. It steals so much from us. My grandmother had Alzheimer's so I know how challenging that journey is for a family. What a roller coaster week you are having. I know that you know things will get better and I hope we girls can help ease this terrible pain.

If you haven't read it, I recommend the book Motherless Daughters: The Legacy of Loss by Hope Edelman.
I read the first edition back in '96 and it was reissued about 10 or so years ago. I passed my dog eared copy onto my sister and other friends until it fell apart. Everyone was glad they had read it.

I read that book after my mother died from complications of emphysema; her death triggered the re-experience of losing my father, my best friend, to cancer at age 17. Back then no one understood grief the way they do today and reading that book began a process of healing that still continues. I have to be careful when I write - if you notice an edgy sadness in my writing that is where it comes from.

Be kind and tender to yourself and get more rest than you think you need.

Dear Thrills

So sad for you and the recent passing of your Mum. You will always miss your Mum but the pain will lessen and then there are the lovely memories. I lost my Dear Mum three years ago but I 'talk' to her every day. I don't have a sister to share these memories with but Mum was a special Nan to my daughter so we do lots of shared moments together. Especially the funny ones.

Are you a cat person too? I have 2 cats currently but I have had cats my whole life. My Mom loved cats and we always had a cat around the house. A wonderful memory.

Both my cats are geriatric (16 years old). My one cat has high blood pressure (I know I did not believe it when I heard it either). I have to go the local pharmacy to pick up his blood pressure medicine. My female sleeps cuddled right next to me every night, it is very soothing.
