I'm not really a fan of Glenn with long hair, but these pics are nice! Thanks FP!

Imo, long or short, Glenn has got great hair.

Glennsallnighter
01-04-2009, 06:04 PM
I agree, Glenn  does indeed have great hair. However IMHO I think he looks a lot sexier with the short hair. But I say sexIER. There are still many pics of him with longer hair where he is indeed very sexy!

You mean like this? ;)

Freypower

There - you see, that period when his hair was all lanky and had no life in it was his worst period IMO, though I know many people like it.

If we have to have the long hair it has to be like this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/ozeagle/1970s%20Screen%20Shots/BBCPEF13.jpg

It isn't too bad here. It was later when it was just a bit shorter as in the plane photo, that it didn't look that good.

I didn't used to care for long haired Glenn but now i like it. Don't get me wrong, I think he looks really great with short hair the way it is now but i wouldn't mind it either way....just bring on more Glenn.

:inlove: Isn't it just so Gorgeous Mrs. Frey? I have always said Long Haired Glenn is the sexiest.

It is gorgeous, EagleLady, but I was actually getting more hot and bothered about Glenn's  hot body than his longer hair. I think Sugar has beautiful hair, but I prefer it short. It somehow frames his fabulous features, and highlights his stunning cheekbones and jawline. Sigh...

Sorry, my heart is doing somersaults just thinking about it... :fainting:

Mrs. Frey, YES!! I do LOVE  how that black T shirt hugs Glenn's body during the Dublin concert!!:fainting: As I mentioned, that is my favorite look for him! However, HFO and longhaired Glenn (ala BBC 1973) run a close second!:inlove:
Thank you for your welcome to me to the Border!:)
Welcome back to you! I'm glad you are back again!
Here's to 2009, and many more days of enjoyment of our guys!

   Ah, Stars, I thought so...

I also love HFO. He's a little bit leaner there, and the T-shirt doesn't hug his body quite as much as in LID , but that head of magnificent hair sure makes up for it... :smitten:

Thanks for the wishes, and I wish you the same.:)

Mrs Frey
01-05-2009, 03:57 AM
MF, it isn't Don in that photo. I don't know who it is. I have a vague memory that the guy in the middle may be Paul Ahearne, who gets a name check on the cover of On The Border. Welcome back.

Ah, I thought that much. So my time away from The Border hasn't rendered me ignorant after all. Thanks for the info, FP.

And thanks for the "welcome back". I'm glad to be back, although I don't know how long it's going to be before my life gets crazy again!

Mrs Frey

I will now post a couple of 'long hair photos' that I like. Then I will have to return to 'normal' so to speak.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/ozeagle/Eagles%20in%20the%2070s/DreamBaby.jpg

I don't know why I like this one so much.

These are HOT, FP.   Look at those lips in the first one... and those eyes... Phew!! :fainting:

I love the passion in the second one. OOOH!

And then there's that body in the third. Phoarrr! Come here, Sugar! :makeout: Shame, he looks a little tired there - even more reason to take care of him...

That is one handsome man-hard to believe he is 60 years old. I will say that Glenn and my hubby (who is the same age) are the two sexiest 60 year olds I have ever seen!

When you said you'd take Glenn  anyway, long, short or somewhere in between, you reminded me of a line Elvis says in his film, "Wild In The Country". His character speaks to his social worker about a girlfriend's attitude towards him, and says: "She'll have me anyway: plain, fried or scrambled!" I reckon we can apply that to the way we feel about Glenn !

Well, thanks, Stars! In order to post a photo, you will need a Photobucket account on the internet. You can upload your photos in the account (which is free) and from there post the "URL" code into your post on The Border. You can go to www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com). If you are able to do so, then I'd love to see your family photo, perhaps in the "What's Happening In Your Life?" thread.

The only comment MF made about the Voice with which I disagree is 'sugary sweetness'. It can be sweet, but to me it is not 'sugary'. I prefer 'silky smooth' or my own variation on Don's nickname Golden Throat, which is Velvet Throat.

As I posted a couple of rarely seen photos in Eagle Hotness I now present the only photo I have ever seen of Glenn with Bob Seger:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/ozeagle/Eagles%20in%20the%2070s/WithBobSeger.jpg

I assume he came on stage and sang backup on Against The Wind (not Shame On The Moon - that was later - the thought of that makes me swoon, but it has never happened as far as I know).

I imagine these are fairly familiar but I haven't posted them for a while:

deep...inhale...and...exhale...oh...man...that screen shot of Glenn come to life was more than I could handle. How hot was that---the face, the voice--wow!:smitten:

Back to the cowboy epic...I had no idea the boys actually played a Wild West scene when shooting the album cover. I thought it was just the still pix. They sure did have a blast! (No pun intended.) Probably every grown man's dream, even today...

As far as the :censored:, I have to admit my mind went straight into the gutter (don't know why, seeing the name of this thread). I was trying to figure out how anything about Desperado could be taken as being overly sexual, and that's what confused me! I was rather surprised by Glenn's comments in the interview...not that it bothered me, just that I don't think of him as swearing in anything else I've heard before.

Thanks for posting the link to fill me in, Soda. Especially so that I could see that first part of Glenn under the covers.

Glenn is not a shrinking violet. You haven't heard him swear in anything else because on the rare occasions when he's interviewed, it is on TV.

If you want to hear Don use the same word, listen to the song Inside Job.

FP, as EL noted, calling Glenn anything (other than HSG) was the farthest thing from my mind! My comment about his language was merely an observation, not a judgement of him. Trust me, I can hear any of a number of "choice" words in my day-to-day goings on, as well as in many musician's songs. The last reason I would go seeking out anyone's song is to hear an obscenity; in fact, next on my list of Don solo songs to check out is "I Was Just Talking to the Moon." There were quite a few Borderers :fainted: in another thread because of Don's vocals in that song, if I remember correctly...and I have yet to hear it!

Dreamer, thanks for letting me know where those screen shots were from, and also for posting the link to the video. Somehow I must have missed it on the Glenn videos thread. I went and watched it, and I must say, I couldn't figure out which one was Glenn-lol. I read the comments, and found out he is the one playing the tamborine and singing, so I went and watched it again. I could actually make out Glenn's voice! I was really excited to hear that, and I kinda liked the song-reminded me of stuff I listened to in the sixties, like the Searchers, Freddie and the Dreamers, the Zombies, etc. ( still love that music so much-brings back memories of my wasted youth-

I'll start with the rarest, gleaned from the grandson of his grandmother's cousin (posted with his permission):

Glenn's cousins are babysitting him. This is circa 1950.

The following are from Glenn's grandmother's 90th birthday (I cropped her out just in case he wouldn't be down with having his grandmom's picture posted):

I've often wondered if Frey is his biological father's name or his adoptive father's name??..does anyone know...

GH - I'm not positive about this, but I always assumed that Glenn uses his stepfather's name. Perhap's Glenn was legally adopted by his stepfather since he and Glenn's mother were married when Glenn was very young (somewhere between age 3-5). His mother goes by the name Frey, which I assume is her 2nd husband's surname .

I remember beginning to read a bio of Glenn on the Internet, over a year ago, that I believe mentioned that Glenn's biological father left when he was very young. When I went back to finish reading it I could't locate it & have never been able to find it since. I thought that it might have been part of a book about the Eagles, but I could be imagining that . My memory is not what it used to be :headscratch:. I understand your confusion. Most people aren't familiar with the nuances of photo netiquette. They just want to share photos with fellow fans. They don't mean any harm, and they're not hurting anyone, so I don't really see a need to get all outraged about it.

However, some webmasters do get outraged, and for their sake I asked GlennLover to get rid of the hotlinks. While I never come down on people for hotlinking to my site or posting photos from it, some webmasters have a different attitude and become highly agitated. I personally think life is too short to get so upset about such things - I save my outrage for things like soldiers dying in Iraq - but that's just me. I understand that not everyone feels that way.

Freypower - LOVE that new photo especially, and congrats on 4000 posts! You were the first person to join my board, back when we were Flip City, and I'm glad that you've stuck around. ;)

Amen to that! JMHO - but I'm glad you feel this way. There is much more important stuff going on in the world than getting so bent out of shape over sharing pictures that can be found freely all over the Internet. Exactly, Dreamer. Since I didn't take any of these photos, I would have no right to get upset if people shared them. Heck, I WANT people to share them. My sites are for the fans, not for my own self-aggrandizement.

In fact, recently, a guy used all sorts of photos and video clips he found on my site to create a Eagles Documentary for YouTube (you can find it here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i500B7l_rb0)). I just watched all 3 parts of that documentary... not bad! I especially found his 'discussion' of Desperado (in parts 1 and 2) and Life in the Fast Land (part 2) quite humorous! Why do you think he left out Glenn's solo career? Do you think there'll be a part 4?--it didn't seem like it.

BTW, y'all have lost me on the hotlinking thing. By the time I had read the pertinent parts of the thread, the photos in question were already gone. I know there is no way in creation I could ever be guilty of hotlinking, but I wouldn't mind a more basic explanation just so I am aware of such things...

eaglesvet, you are not alone! Most people aren't aware of things like hotlinking, which is why I don't judge people who do it accidentally.

I've always wondered how "Sodascouts" came to be your username...does this have something to do with it?? :hmm:

Nah, it's just coincidence! A nice coincidence. ;)

I came up with my username in a rather mundane way. My parents had gotten AOL in 1995, and I was trying to come up with a unique name. I have a love for Coca-Cola (Coke Zero now is my new fave) and so I thought my username would be Soda. Only problem is - there was already a Soda, and I didn't want to be Soda93721. I tried things like SodaPop and such with no success. I decided in order to be unique I would have to stick something completely nonsensical on the end of Soda.

The movie To Kill a Mockingbird happened to be on the TV at the time. The lead character is named Scout. I decided that SodaScout sounded cool, and attempted to enter in that user name. The only problem is that I screwed up the registration, and when I tried to do it again, it told me "SodaScout" was already taken (by me, of course... ack!) So I added an "s" and got SodaScouts.

I used it everywhere, because I knew it would never be taken! Then, after I got cyberstalked, I realized using the same username everywhere may not be the best idea! It allows people to track you anywhere you go on the internet, so I'd advise against it.

But here, and everywhere else I posted before 2008, I went by SodaScouts. And here, SodaScouts I will remain! ;)

eaglesvet
01-29-2009, 03:09 AM
 Great story, :soda:! Well, all except the part about the cyberstalker. I've done the same thing when trying to change a password that you did with registering 'Sodascout,' and then been told that password has already been taken...and funny thing, in the past I've added an 's' to make it into something new as well! Go figure...

I just watched all four parts of his documentary, and as a whole they were really good and pretty funny. I learned a few things about Glenn's and Timothy's solo careers that I never knew before. My only complaint is an obvious one--he certainly didn't devote much time to Don.

sodascouts

Here we go - I'll break it down!

Sites like this one put up photos and things on their own servers. For instance, if you look at a pic here, you'll find a URL like this one:

https://www.eaglesonlinecentral.com/images/photo.jpg (https://www.eaglesonlinecentral.com/images/nameofphoto.jpg)

You like the photo, want to post it somewhere - so you simply take this URL and stick it between image tags - and ouila! There's your photo!

The problem is that the new place you've posted it, wherever that may be, now is using some of EOC's bandwidth, because every time that page loads, it takes the photo from the EOC server located at https://www.eaglesonlinecentral.com. This is known as "hotlinking."

The solution? Upload images to free accounts like Photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com). Then, the bandwidth is simply taken from them.

So, in short, a hot link for a photo is any image that is linked from someone else's server rather than a free host account.

I personally don't care if this is done for my photos because for such small files the bandwidth pull is negligible, but many people do care no matter how small the file, so it's good to avoid it.

You've got a self-sufficient swept-back hairdo

Oh your life-style shows in the clothes you chose

You remain the only main contender

I was thinking after TF posted those beautiful Takamine photos that perhaps it was time to see Glenn 'smiling inanely' with his 'cheap Japanese guitar' again. There were a lot of cheap shots in Felder's book. I thought that was one of the most juvenile.

I keep forgetting my name for this is 'Those Shoes'. I could always rename it 'inane smile', I guess. :nope: :-)

The shoes do indeed catch ones attention there!! I love that pic though, particularly the fact that Glenn  has a few open buttons on his shirt  :inlove:

I think Koala is a great name. Maybe you could hook up with FP when you DO get to Australia and watch an Eagles video together!:nod:

Soda, Felder can bite me too!
I also love that photo of Glenn with his Takamine guitar. What's with Felder anyway? Me suspects jealousy!:jealous: After all, he will never be as talented as Glenn or as good looking either!;)
And GA, I noticed the unbuttoned shirt too! Love that!:smitten:

Well, OK, it probably is, but that's the first time I've ever thought that it was a reallly nice photo. It happens sometimes. :nahnah:

Thank you GA, and it was a privilege and an honour to contribute anything I could. I actually was going to mention that I still have to share an Eagles concert with everyone. I do hope that happens soon.

I'm a tad late on this, FP , but I'd like to add my congratulations and thanks too. Your love and respect for Glenn  shines through all your posts and your knowledge of both his career and that of the Eagles is awesome.

I know where you're coming from and I can identify completely. Here's to another 4,000 posts.

The only comment MF made about the Voice with which I disagree is 'sugary sweetness'. It can be sweet, but to me it is not 'sugary'. I prefer 'silky smooth' or my own variation on Don's nickname Golden Throat, which is Velvet Throat.

FP, I know this post of yours is almost a month old, but I had to comment on it. I like the way you mention Glenn's  voice with a capital letter. Nice touch.

Glenn's  voice sounds sugary sweet to me at times, but I meant that in a positive way. It makes me melt. His voice is sweet and sexy all at the same time.

I agree completely with your descriptions as well.

Thank you for the above comments, MF.

Am I sad, or am I sad? The 'much' adlib from Tampa. As I said in that thread I experienced this moment 'personally' so to speak.
