Dreamer's post about her Ebay purchase made me wonder what other things people have won. I won Desperado and it arrived yesterday - hooray - just in time for Christmas. I also won an Eagles t-shirt transfer(20 years old!), which I am going to put on the bluest shirt I can find ready for the gig next year.

I won auctions for a Hotel California tourbook, a Long Run tourbook, Glenn's freshman yearbook, all of Glenn's LPs, and an LP from the movie "The Lonely Guy" for which he wrote a song. And I plan to do some more purchasing once I recover from holiday spending! Me loves Ebay! lol

I missed a chance to get 'The Allnighter' LP last week.... I haven't even got a record deck any more but the artwork would have been interesting!
Your purchases sound cool, soda! I love Ebay too. Also got Glenn's live album very reasonably.

Do you mean in LP form? If so, I need to get cracking! I don't have that LP! Also, does anyone know if Strange Weather is in LP form? I assumed they were both released only on CD and tape.

Don't know about SW being on LP, sorry.
I have two autographed pictures which I won on Ebay. Of course, despite the certificates of authenticity, I can't be entirely sure they were signed by the man himself, but they look like they were.
I got that 'Always Glenn Frey' Coke logo Tshirt from Ebay and a couple of other Eagles Tshirts. I got my Dublin DVD from Ebay. If that wonderful Allnighter shirt ever reappears I will try to get it.
I now have something that looks like a sexual aid with Glenn's face on it. OMG!!!Too bad there's not one of Timmy or I would have to get a set, too!

Ah, ok. I haven't seen it either - I think around that time they were making the transition and foregoing LP versions in a lot of cases (starting with Vanilla Ice, if I remember correctly!) We'll still keep an eye out for it, just in case!

Wow, I am so glad I am not the only one addicted to ebay!
I have won the HFO tour program, Don's Summer Tour 1991 program, the GQ with Don on the cover, RECORD magazine with Don on the cover, piano music for the entire Eagles catalog, separate sheet music for Sunset Grill, a vintage pink Eagles patch that I have sewn on a denim shirt, and a Joe Walsh guitar pick from 2003.
I really want to see a picture of those Desperado dolls!

Okay - I have also purchased a few other items off of ebay. In addition to Glenn's essay, I also bought Glenn's senior high school 1966 yearbook from the same guy. It only has one picture of Glenn in it, but it was fun to compare the pictures of the classmates to the picture that I got with the paper and the names he mentions in the paper. I also bought a 45 RPM record with a signed sleeve of a Smuggler' Blues demo record. I think the signature is genuine, but not 100% sure.
My biggest treasure is my signed Hotel California album (Glenn, Don, Joe, Randy, and Don F.), which I'm confident is genuine. I didn't get it from ebay, but I bid on it at a Girl Scout fund-raising auction that they hold in my area each year. I had it framed, along with the cover of my Farewell 1 tourbook (so I have Timmy, too) and it turned out gorgeous.
glenneaglesfan - I'm really not sure about the signature on the No Fun Aloud album - it may be real, but it looks a suspect to me.

He can rush his signatures. I think it's possible but I wouldn't say 100% that it's his writing. The line above the F suggests not.* NB this was supposed to be a reply to Kate's query about the NFA cover signature.
I should have mentioned I also got my beloved Barn poster and the SW poster with the Rickenbacker from Ebay. I haven't had the SW poster framed yet.

Ok, here is my first attempt at an iron-on transfer on a pillowcase. It needs more attention to even pressure, and I don't think it will stand much washing so I'll have to avoid drooling too much! Come to think of it, that will be impossible. I'd better get a droolproof cover.

I also made a version that's supposed to look like Glenn came by and changed it, but I'm not sure people would get that, so I didn't make it the finished version. What do you guys think? I had him cross out "Dead or" and "Doggerel". I think it's funnier, but only if people get it! If you guys think people will get it, I'll probably make that the finished version after all:
"Revised by Glenn" version (http://www.glennfreyonline.com/images/WPWantedMarkedB.jpg)
And maybe isolating the "Wanted" poster would work better for a T-shirt.

Kate, you and I think are of like minds. If I were going to make a pillowcase, that Allnighter picture is the one I would use, also!
Hmmmm, I'm going to have to let hubby see that picture of your pillowcase. You may be hearing from him - I have a birthday coming up in a few weeks! And you'd better believe that baby would stay on bed! (I'm going to have to learn to sleep on my stomach.)
I'd probably turn into Linus from Peanuts (with his blanket) and start carrying the pillow around with me wherever I went. I'll just tell people I'm having some kind of a midlife crisis.

The text on the Wanted Poster is as follows (starting from the description):
GLENN FREY
aka The Lone Arranger
For Highway Robbery
This dastardly villain is always armed & dangerous. He often travels with a gang of 3 desperadoes. According to his victims, he has brown hair, blue eyes, a strong voice, & the manners of a perfect gentleman.
He fancies himself to be a poet, leaving scraps of doggerel [crossed out with "genius" over it] in the empty bank boxes he has just robbed, and signing himself - G. F. (see facsimile):
You got to gamble on your story, you got no guts, you get no glory
And I bet my money on an ace in the hole - I think I'm getting out of control - G.F.
P.S. I still believe we can chug all night.

OMG - I love this place. We are so pathetic. There are so few of us normal girls that understand the importance of launching a full investigation to determine "whose arm is this, actually?" I think I may change my mind - after further review it probably is Bernie's arm. If it is Don's, that would mean he wears his watch on his right wrist - which is probably not the case. Hmmm - is further investigation required here???? http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/nerd.gif
P.S. Other topics currently under investigation:
Why does Timmy point at people?

However, since you are administrator of a board, you must realize it's impossible to reply to everything. Keep in mind that just because your comment doesn't receive a reply doesn't mean people are trying to be hurtful and ignore you. If you're talking about Ain't It Love, it's one of my absolute favourite songs. If it's It's Cold In Here, that is just fun.

I guess that's a mistake on our part. All the photos are from No Fun Aloud so it must have been a tour to support that. I can't get the program out right now to double check it (all the wood for the new floor is sitting in the den), but it would seem to be for No Fun Aloud.

From what I can tell, the signature in the book really might be Don's. The seller say he signed it at a charity event at the Hard Rock in LA. Who knows?
Now back to those pictures. You ladies will understand if I'm missing for 10 or 12 days, won't you?

This is a side note, but I think they were considering developing a romance between the characters of Gina and Cody, and I'm glad that never got in the first five episodes! She was OK as the ditzy actress/secretary, but as a meaningful love interest - nah, can't see it.

sodascouts
05-26-2006, 01:53 PM
I'm not surprised not everyone believes there an eventual romantic intent, as there was no spark between the two. However, I was basing my guess on some of those old TV tropes used so often early on in series as "hints" that one day there might be a romance.
1) Having the male lead find reasons why the female lead should not be with other men (he's an actor, he's been married, etc.)
2) Contriving situations where the male and female leads have to pretend to be in love
3) Making other characters mistake the two for a couple
3) Highlighting sentimental moments that involve hugs and kisses (such as the goodbye in Dream Girl)
Many times, a lot of these are "set up" for future plotlines - so I wondered.

I was just looking at this tonight, when I saw who had a bid on it! I promise not to knowingly bid against anyone here!!!

That can happen, Kate. I remember bidding against someone once when I suddenly realized it was Julie I was bidding against!
Kate, that is so funny -- I was looking at that too, but never realized who the bidder was! Dang, she's quick!
