GA suggested a thread where we could show some of our Eagles memorabilia, so I'll kick off with my tourbooks.

Eagles tourbooks from 1977, 1979, 1994, 2001, 2006 and 2008 (the last two purchased at concerts).

Glenn solo tourbooks from Japan 1982 and 1986.

My prized signed Allnighter album. :inlove:

OK, got it done!

Here's what I have hanging on the wall:

And these books are stuck on a shelf, for lack of a better place for them:

----------------------------------

I got this from the Joe Walsh Fan Club:

Here are my shirts!

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/glennfreyonline/shirts1.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/glennfreyonline/shirts2.jpg
(I included the CMA, Hard Rock Park, and Troubadour shirts because they might not be officially Eagles memorabilia, but I got them at/before Eagles/Glenn shows! The baby doll shirts on the cushions which are hard to see are the Prelude to Obscurity shirt and a Hotel California shirt with roses on it).

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/glennfreyonline/shirts3.jpg
(I almost forgot this one because it was in the wash, so I had to dig it out of the laundry and take another photo.)

My magazines (Eagles cover stories on top layer, then the rest on the hidden layers - too many to spread out):

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/glennfreyonline/mags.jpg

-------------------------------------------

My LPs:

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/glennfreyonline/records.jpg
(The half-hidden one, The Lonely Guy, was purchased because Glenn co-wrote the title track "The Lonely Guy (http://www.glennfreyonline.com/multimedia/MP3/LonelyGuy.mp3).")

-------------------------------------------

My singles (including CD singles, and a Japanese version of Soul Searchin'):

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/glennfreyonline/singles.jpg
(The 45s without covers are Take It Easy/Get You in the Mood and The One You Love/All Those Lies.

-------------------------------------------

My songbooks:

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/glennfreyonline/songbooks.jpg
("Lyin' Eyes" is technically sheet music, not a songbook, but it fits otherwise!)

------------------------------------------

My tourbooks:

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/glennfreyonline/tourbooks.jpg
(I forgot to put the LROOE tourbook in there because it's sitting on the scanner. Just NOW realized that! Also, the Party of Two ones are actually tour itineraries rather than tourbooks.)

-----------------------------------------

Miscellaneous items:
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/glennfreyonline/misc.jpg
(The yearbook is Glenn's ninth grade one, from Royal Oak)

----------------------------------------

The stuff I found as I was putting the other stuff away, and almost forgot:
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/glennfreyonline/forgotten.jpg
(The single is Don Felder's "Who Tonight" - forgettable indeed. The Fall Preview has South of Sunset in it, and the photo album contains PLS' Pebble Beach photos. The netted bag is what the ILAA folks got in 2006 - a travel mug, CD holder, and tag holder).

----------------------------------------

And last but not least... the stuff Glenn signed for me!

Wow!!!!!!!!!!! Impressive indeed! lol

I really want to get something signed by the guys...collectively and individually but the odds of getting the opportunity are incredibly slim. I'm scared to purchase something off of ebay because most are fakes and the ones that probably aren't are in the hundreds of dollars. :(

Brooke

That's quite a collection Soda! 8)

I know what you mean, Maleah, about the stuff on Ebay. I'm not good enough to pick out the real ones and most of them are too expensive.

I can start with these. They did come with a certificate of authenticity.

I love those photos, FP!

I would like to have sigs of the other guys as well. Joe's signature on the photos is machine-generated, and I'd like to have a "real" one addressed "To Nancy." I hope they allow that at the meet'n'greet - I'll bring my The Smoker You Drink, the Player You Get LP just in case.

Noticing my memorabilia stuff laid out, I realized I don't have any Timothy B. Schmit or Bernie Leadon LPs. I'm gonna go down to the local used record story and try to rectify that today! Need something for them to sign, too, if the opportunity should ever arise. ;)

Maleah
07-26-2008, 07:49 PM
Did they ever specify which show the meet & greet was for?

Surely Joe would be able to take the time to sign some stuff right? I though I read somewhere that they wouldn't allow you to take pictures with him individually. Are there that many people at the M&G's??

sodascouts
07-26-2008, 08:19 PM
No, they haven't specified yet - I sure hope they do soon!

Maleah
07-26-2008, 09:00 PM
I hope they do both nights because I'm going to be really bummed if I can't go! Especially if I sign up for Joe's fan club! LOL How long does it take for that to get finalized? I was just wondering how far in advance I need to sign up. lol

DonFan
07-26-2008, 10:30 PM
Maleah, I signed up for Joe's fan club about 2-3 weeks before the concert & I rec'd my fan club packet about a week later.
And even though they said not to bring anything to sign, I brought my Hotel California album anyway and Joe was nice enough to sign it. He ended up signing one item for everyone, but they wouldn't allow us to take individual pictures with him.

Maleah
07-26-2008, 10:53 PM
Cool! Thanks for letting me know! Now I have to figure out whether I want him to sign a picture, poster, or album if I get the chance! lol I'm afraid I'll be too chicken to ask! LOL

This is my 'jewellry'.

The belt buckle I got in 1978. At the time I thought an Eagles belt buckle would be 'different'.

The badge I bought in London in 1980

The Eagle shaped lapel pin I bought in Canberra on Don's birthday in 1980.

The 03 tour pin came with a T shirt. The other two pins and necklaces came from Ebay.

Joe is the only member who do a M&G..however you have to be a member of his fanclub.
Autographed stuff, Timothy is the only one (as far as I know) who send you an signed photocard. And if you would have your tourstuff signed, you have to be very very very lucky. ;)

glenneaglesfan
08-03-2008, 07:21 AM
Siny, I believe Joe will sign things at his meet & greets. Don has done meet & greets in the past on his solo tours. Glenn has been known to sign things if you are lucky enough to meet him on a golf course. My signed Allnighter album was an Ebay purchase, but you have to be very careful as there are a lot of fakes out there. The seller I bought from said she had met Glenn at a golf match in Florida. Timothy will send you a signed photo if you join his fan club.

:D :D :D

Actually, all you need to do is 1) locate and go to a golf course where Glenn is playing, 2) pretend you know what's going on, 3) stick around long enough and hope he'll notice you, and 4) cross your fingers that he's in an autograph signing mood.

Piece of cake, huh!

One other thing, you also get an autographed picture of Joe when you join his fan club, but it may be one of those machine-embossed kind.

Okay - I finally got around to taking a few pictures of one of my most prized pieces of Eagles memorabilia. I had a hard time photographing it without getting a glare, but you'll get the idea anyway. I was lucky enough to get the signed album in an auction, and then I had it framed and matted with the cover of the program from my very first Eagles concert. I thought I would represent the 30-year (at the time) career of the band, plus the colors worked. The pictures here really do not do it justice. Having it framed was an event all to itself because I would not leave the album with the store until they were ready to actually mount it. Therefore, every time they had to measure or center the album, they would have to call me to bring it to them. I spent hours going back and forth, choosing the framing, matting, and arrangement. It was worth every minute and penny though, and they ended up doing a beautiful job.

One other funny little anecdote about it - my computer room is a rather 'interesting' room with a collection of family heirlooms. However, it has also somehow evolved into a paradoxical Eagles/Glenn shrine. I had no choice but to hang the framed HC album right over my deceased, big band music-loving grandmother's formal Victorian sofa. The first time my niece saw this, she just shockingly shook her head and proclaimed "That's just wrong!" :D

I can just imagine how it looks over that sofa! Hey, sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do, right?

Absolutely, Brooke - that's what I always say! :D

And now I'm going to post some more memorabilia. I'm going to continue with autographed items.

I got this off of ebay, but like gef said, I am very careful and do my homework when purchasing autographs off of ebay. I question the seller a lot about the item and check their ebay history before bidding on anything. It's also very important to know what the guys signatures look like. Of course, to me that seems like a given, but I mention it because I have seen people bid lots of money on what are obviously fake signatures.

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b296/kay8342/SelectedWorks.jpg

Another ebay purchase - Glenn's signature looks authentic on this to me, but even if it's not, I got this at a bargain price, so I'm not too concerned. As you can see, it has also become a convenient place to store old ticket stubs.

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b296/kay8342/SBAutograph.jpg

I know this one is authentic - I was watching. This is what I had Glenn sign for me the first time I went to Pebble Beach. The pick he gave me is beside it.

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b296/kay8342/GFSWAutograph.jpg

And one more. You can hardly see the autograph here because the background is dark, but this is the pic that PLS took at PB that I had enlarged for Glenn to sign this past February. Obviously, these last two are among my most treasured.

Okay - this should be the last post.

Special gifts that I cherish from my very good friend, Molly - the most HS&G mouse pad ever, a necklace made from an On the Border guitar pick, and a picture she took at Casino Rama of Glenn singing I Love to Watch a Woman Dance in a frame that plays the song - how cool is that!

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b296/kay8342/GFGifts.jpg

And speaking of friends - here is my pillowcase that gef made me with my favorite Allnighter.

And my last two ebay purchases - First, Glenn's senior yearbook.

And last - a 3-page essay that Glenn wrote for a school project around February, 1963 along with a class picture (all illegible for obvious reasons).

Dreamer--What a very impressive collection! You have really spent some time and money adding to this collection. I don't know which item I like the best. The cup reminds me of a funny story involving my sister in law. Back in the mid 80's the Christmas movie Prancer was being filmed in our small town. Sam Elliot played the father and my sister in law met him on the set and had a cup of coffee with him. When he got called away, he put his cup down and she grabbed it and has had it since. It has made moves with her to Kansas, Las Vegas and back to Indiana.

Any ways, treasure these wonderful items, and heavily insure them! :D :D

Very cool purse, tbf. But you girls must be a bit more considerate in Chicago. You are going to need to keep the middle of the stage clear for all the Don and Glenn groupies. :fight:

"Dear Cuz,
The Eagles are going to be in town September 24 and 25. IF you should hear on the news that some STRANGE occurance should happen like say.. OH a bunch of ladies jumping on stage molesting or even attepting to kidnap ONE or more of the performers, could you maybe, possibly just hop on down the the police station and tell them you're there to bail out the said ladies and then GRAB Joe and run like heck!! Ship him to me and I'll pay you back!

I promised that I would share my 'memorabilia' or what counts for it. Some of this stuff is really what I like, not actual memorabilia. Let's start with things that do class as memorabilia:

Books & programs (look carefully & you'll see concert tickets). The cushion was given to all Diamond seat holders.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/ozeagle/Memorabilia7.jpg

Vinyl records: above The Allnighter is the 12 inch single of ASWTDID. Also note the Heavy Metal & Fast Times at Ridgemont High soundtracks.

(Before anyone asks, the doll is Henry VIII, knitted by my mother-in-law).

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/ozeagle/Memorabilia8.jpg

Mugs: they're blurred but you get the idea. I've had the Miami Vice mug since I got it in Los Angeles in 1986.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/ozeagle/Memorabilia10.jpg

Sheet music & my Photobucket calendars:

Posters:

Moving on, I got a stack of photos printed:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/ozeagle/Memorabilia9.jpg

and then Photobucket, bless it, decided to do postcards:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/ozeagle/Memorabilia3.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/ozeagle/Memorabilia4.jpg

So here is the fridge in the week of Don's birthday. It's blurred but the magnets are either Eagles or Texas related. I have photographed my Eagles magnets previously:

The lower half of the fridge that week:

WOW!! FP Girl! I'm so envious not only of your collection, but that you have the the freedom to display them all over your home. That is a spectacular collection. Of everything, I single out the framed photo of Glenn . I'd love to be able to display something like that. Your calendars are fantastic. I must find out how to do them on Photobucket.

Well done, you are a true fan!! (But I knew that anyway )

That's a fabulous collection, Fp, and like GA I am envious of the way you can display them. I have that Strange Weather poster and would love to put it on the bedroom door, but the other half would not approve. There's a book there I didn't recognise, with the Long Run group on the cover.

The book you didn't recognise was The Long Run by Marc Shapiro. While I prefer it to To The Limit for its more positive coverage of Glenn, it is basically a collection of rehashed interviews.

I'll never be able to get the posters framed. I have to content myself with alternating all those photos on the fridge & on my dressing table (you can see one of Glenn under the Barn photo).

My regret, as I am sure you'll appreciate, is that there is nothing more recent in terms of programs. Ignoring the photos and postcards the most recent item is Felder's book. I do have some T shirts from this year but I can't photograph those until I start wearing them.

They don't? When did that start?

Only recently I think. All I get when I'm bidding on an item now is a name of the format a***b where a and b are letters or numbers and the true bidders identity is hidden. So I don't know who I'm bidding against. I'm bidding on a Glenn  pick see here Item number 120304810706 which ends tomorrow and all I know is that another bidder is called 'Bidder 2'. I WAS the first bidder on it!! I just HOPE I win it!

This is the eBay message that I get

"To help keep the eBay community safe, enhance bidder privacy, and protect our members from fraudulent emails, eBay has changed how User IDs display on the bid history page. Only you and the seller of the item can view your User ID, all other members will see anonymous user IDs, such as Bidder 1."

I'll still go for the record Ticky but I'm keeping my powder dry until nearer the end.

By the way, Ticky, if you use Auction Snipe do you just wait or should you still continue bidding until the auction closes. I really want this pick!!

CONGRATULATIONS to the both of you.

I have a few pieces of memorabilia hanging around the house. You can look at them HERE (http://mvabercrombie.net/Eagles_Walsh/Eagles_Walsh.html) if you'd like.

I have a few others, that I do not have displayed. One is an almost lifesized autographed poster of TBS that I was lucky enough to win in one of the monthly contests that Schmit put up as one of the prizes. I would have hung it but my wife wanted it plastered on the ceiling over our bed. I agreed to do that if she would let me hang one of Pamela Anderson on the other side of the bed <LOL>! I really ought to at least take a picture of that poster and add it to the website.

I have all of the Eagles and James Gang vinyl albums along with Barnstorm. Don't have them all framed though.

I have a pic of Walsh in a NASA hat that is autographed. Can't imagine why that one is not on the wall.

Thanks Brooke. I used to have everything individually photographed and displayed on a website...but that website "went down" and was never restored. I lost a lot of images when that happened.

I really need to scan off of the items that are on the walls that are small enough for me to scan on my 8.5x11 scanner bed. Some of those were scanned in sections and then pasted together. The scans are a terrible mess to put back together "mosaic form" into one image, but it is usually worth the effort. The scans show so much more detail than a photograph.

However, some of the things, like the Rolling Stone spread, is on such old paper it might as well be papyrus! I really hesitate to remove things like that from their frames. I'm afraid I'll damage them.

But I do need to do "something" to get images of those things.

That Performance Rider is very cool. I have a Party of Two Tour Itinerary Book that I need to scan one day. BTW - one of my biggest regrets (next to never seeing an HFO show) is that I have never seen a Party of Two show. Even though the HFO thing will never happen for me, I am still hanging on to a thin hope that I will be able to see a Party of Two performance. The problem is that almost all of them now are private, corporate events.

Now, if you all will excuse me, I've got some freckle-counting to do!

MikeA

Here are some of the things I transcribed from the Rider. Mine is in two parts (Performance 32 pgs and Technical-30 pgs) and is well over 60 pages long with diagrams as an apendix. I won't be scanning all that legalese in <LOL> But, there are some very interesting parts. Some you would think would be "understood" but they are there. Even down to the number of garbage cans and number of liners for the BACKSTAGE area!

They leave no stone unturned in these Performance Riders (32 pages). Unbelievably detailed. Obviously, they have to be for legal reasons. In reading this, I can sure see why Joe was glad to unload that responsibility and turn it over to the well oiled managerial machine the Eagles LTD had in place!

Yet the "No Alcohol" clause was very clear and to the point unlike anything else in the rider that I've seen other than the section headers, that clause is in capital letters:

THERE SHALL BE NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES OF ANY KIND ANYWHERE IN THE BACKSTAGE AREA, INCLUDING THE HOSPITALITY ROOMS.

The Technical Rider (30 pages) contains all of the details for eveything from OMP (this is the ABREV meaning an outdoor, multi-purpose venue as opposed to a permanent stage in a theater) power requirements to the Medical requirements and Snow Removal and Garbage to the Food menus!

One of those requirements specifies the description of the Hospitality Rooms.

I've added a few pics to an album here that I haven't seen on the site. They could be there though. I haven't been able to look at all the millions of photos that Soda has accumulated. I guess you can get to them through my public profile. Not sure of that either.

ONE (1) large room with bathroom, for hospitality room to accommodate thirty (30) people, etc......

That is probably what Nancy ran into that didn't stop Deb from getting in at the Chicago show. I remember those rooms and they were small!

This is a Media Info document I found from Joe released around the time The Confessor was released (1985) Pretty funny stuff. The document I have appears to be one of the original documents

Warner Bros Records

Media Information

Joe Walsh

I was born on November 20, 1947, in a place called Wichita, Kansas. I was 0 years old. Wichita is almost exactly I the middle of the continental United States, if you ignore Alaska and Hawaii. Most folks in Kansas do. Wichita is also famous for being called “The Airplane Capital” which it is, but I’m not sure how important this is outside Kansas. I’m sure it’s not a priority in Alaska or Hawaii. Kansas is also where Dorothy and Toto lived once. To the best of my knowledge, I was not born in New York, and whoever started that rumor is full of beans.

Places I have lived:

1. Wichita, Kansas
2. Evanston, Illinois
3. Columbus, Ohio
4. Flushing, Long Island, New York (Queens)
5. Montclair, New Jersey
6. Kent, Ohio
7. Ipswich, Massachussetts (ed note: this is spelled just like it was released in the document!)
8. Nederland, Colorado
9. Boulder, Colorado
10. Los Angeles, California
11. In Irving Azoff’s car
12. Santa Barbara, California
13. Coconut Grove, Florida
14. Ringo’s house
15. Nowhere
16. Los Angeles, California, where I currently live as far as I can tell.

Things I have done:

Produced albums for Dan Fogelberg and Ringo.
Ran for President of the United States.
Played on everybody’s albums.
Flown in the Concorde.
Met Robert Mitchum.

Brief summary of my careers:

1. Member of the James Gang (“funk #49,” “Walk-Away”).
1. Ex-member of the James Gang.
2. Leader and founding member of Barnstorm (Rocky Mt. Way).
2. Only member of Barnstorm.
3. Brief but glorious solo career So What, You Can’t Argue With A Sick Mind ending with much public head-scratching because of career #4.
4. Member of The Eagles Hotel California (1977), Long Run (1979), during which also made 1 solo album, But Seriously Folks.

-- Brief Interlude –

5. Right around in here somewhere is my present career – In a couple of years, I’ll be able to tell you how I did.

Things that might be interesting to know about me:

-- I attended Kent State University regularly over a 6-year period without graduation.
-- One time I crashed in a Boeing 727.
-- Yes, on occasion I do saw up hotel rooms with chain saws and throw the pieces out the window. Why not?
-- I have absolutely no idea whether I have a Maserati or not….probably. It would seem logical.
-- No, I do not need a new nose.
-- I prefer B.B. King to Don Ho.

Things that people like to ask:

What does “The Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get” mean?
“Where are you from?” (I’m from Ohio, I don’t know why.)
“Hey Joe, what ever happened to the guys in the James Gang?”
“Hey Joe, I love that song of yours – how does it go?”

My hobbies include such activities as:

Amateur radio (since 1962), blacksmithing (honest). Arguing all night about politics, (or for that matter – anything). Hooking stuff up to see if it works, and beer.

What my new album, The Confessor is about:
My new album, The Confessor, is about 20 minutes a side.

0485 (ed note: surely is the date of publication April, 1985 since The Confessor was released in 1985)

Thanks also for the backstage information from the HFO tour. I'd always thought it was Glenn who was the Gatorade fan. Perhaps he needed to be careful because of his ongoing health problems.

Thank you GEF. I am very fortunate in the fact that both my wife and I are Eagles freaks. I give her all the credit for accumulating the memorabilia (the vast majority anyway, doing most of the work of framing it and even hanging it. I just drove the nails where she pointed. In fact, she did more than I did in fixing up the basement walls to make them suitable for displaying the collection....and we did fix it up just so we could display it. And we do still have a rather large box somewhere with more stuff in it.

We have a tendency to go a bit overboard when we do stuff.

Now I have to get him going on Glenn:heart::wink:

GAN,

It would take a guy pretty secure in his manhood to "get going" on Glenn <LOL> I appreciate both Glenn and Don and Tim as musicians, but I have a different way of relating to Walsh. Joe is an admitted geek as well as one of the top half dozen guitarist of all time IN MY OPINION (Page, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Hendrix and maybe Buddy Guy and Eric Clapton rounding out my list of the best). I'm not a great guitarist at all but sure am infatuated with those who are! But I am a geek. I've been tearing things up and putting them back together all my life and have gotten into way too many geeky things to list...astronomy and telescope building and computers from the early days to name a couple. I relate to Joe on that level in addition to his mastery of the guitar!

But I do understand the infatuations of you ladies with the others in the band if I look at it a little differently. I'm infatuated with Shania Twain myself, although I can't tolerate country music <LOL>. As for female rockers, well, the list isn't that huge. I've always been in love with Stevie Nicks's voice and also with the Wilson sisters ("Heart"). Oh, and Bonnie Raitt and Janis Joplin....though with them it is more an awe of their uncanny musical abilities.

Glennsallnighter
10-05-2008, 07:35 PM
Mike! You weren't in College with me by any chance were you . I was into ..... Music, Astronomy, and did a bit of computers!! And I'm not a great guitar player either! Tho I DID see 'Heart' in concert in 1990!

Joe is indeed one of the greatest guitar players in the world, there is no denying that. But I can only be infatuated with one person at a time (Call it a defect if you like!) And right now that person is Glenn  . And I imagine will be for the forseeable future.

Before I spent $408.00 on that, I'd have to have some assurance that it was not a "replica". Somehow, I'm not convinced from the auction statements.

Why? Well, why would anyone associated with the Eagles be willing to part with such and award? Maybe they do but I have a hard time believing it.

I've heard of RECORD PLANT STUDIOS but the significance of them in relation to the Eagles escapes me right now. But I looked it up:

From Wkipedia

The first album recorded at the Record Plant in New York was Electric Ladyland by The Jimi Hendrix Experience, released in 1968. Through the years, hundreds of albums were first cut there (Hotel California by the Eagles, Rumours by Fleetwood Mac, Songs in the Key of Life by Stevie Wonder, etc.). During the 1970s, house engineers Shelly Yakus and Roy Cicala also gave many local bands their start by donating session time and materials to upcoming artists, engineering and producing their demo tapes. This was part of the Record Plant's successful marketing plan which led to its as having recorded nearly 10% of the top 100 albums on the Billboard charts.

I wonder if these recording studios receive multiple "awards". You know, maybe a couple (or more) of them for display? It may very well be authentic.

I was wondering that myself Mike, I looked at their website and they claim to have association with Hotel California and The Eagles back in the '70s but why would they give up the gold record? I was going to email them and ask then that myself.
I suppose it could have been stolen or replaced over the years, but then people have been known to sell their Oscars so who knows??

Well - I'll put my two cents worth in here. I would bet good money that this is indeed a replica. I actually own something very similar to it. When I visited the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame in 2005, I bought a replica of the RIAA Gold Certification Award for The Beatles Abbey Road album. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything for the Eagles that day, however, there are always vendors there selling similar items. Mine is actually very attractive, and is an exact replica, but I think this item on ebay is WAY overpriced unless it truly is an original. Frankly, I would expect an original to sell for a lot more. Mine is a bit smaller (16 x 20 before framing), but the actual gold record replica is the exact same size as an LP record. I don't remember exactly what I paid for mine, and I did barter the price, but this ebay item is priced at least three times more than what I paid.

OK Dreamer--I have to admit, after watching that signed photo on ebay reach over $120.00, I have been considering your idea. I don't even really care if I get a picture or not, but I am more compelled to let him know just how much it meant to me to finally see him and the other guys a couple of weeks ago after so many years as a fan. As everyone else knows, the feeling of happiness after their concerts stays with you for a very long time and after attending many many concerts in my life, I can honestly say I have never enjoyed one or felt the same way a couple weeks later as I do since seeing The Eagles. So I think this afternoon, I will set down with pen and paper (not laptop and printer) and give it a shot. I suppose I will find an address to send it to on his website. And just in case, I might also try emailing Julie as MH suggested and see what comes of that. What the h*ll---at 45, it's never to late to make a fool of yourself right?

Prettymaid
10-09-2008, 09:09 AM
Seriously, Willie, I think that's a great idea. Not only does it give you an opportunity to put your feelings down on paper, but your letter will give Timothy a lift and let him know that what he does is appreciated. I suggest that you personalize your letter by briefly explaining how many times you were set to go to an Eagles concert and why it didn't work out.

Go for it, tbf - put that pen to paper. I'm sure it will mean a lot to Timothy and I don't think you'll regret it. BTW - Julie may have another address, but if not, you can always send it to the Eagles address that Soda has on all of the online sites. Good luck!

I dont know about Tim or the other guys, but I used to collect autographed pictures of movie stars and tv stars and they were always very receptive to sending pictures, especially if you send a picture AND a pen (dont expect to get the pen back) Otherwise, a lot of the time you'd get whats called an autosign. Thats where a machine is used, usually by a lacky, to make a lot of signed pictures using one signature and copying it. I used to ask that it be signed specifically to me (that way the star knew it wouldnt immediately put on Ebay) and they were usually VERY obliging. It's kind of risky because you do risk loosing your picture if their "handlers" arent attentive to the fans, but I cant imagine with Tim that it'd be ignored. He seems to be pretty terrific to his fans. Good Luck!!

I've got to tell you what happened this morning. My niece (the one that got our Farewell tickets when we couldn't attend) went back to work on Monday after a 3 month maternity leave and I had agreed to watch the baby when she went back (a real hardship;)). Anyways she showed up this morning and told me that I have made this transition of working mother so easy for her that she wanted to give me something that she knew would mean a lot to me in appreciation. Guess what it was:
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e136/williehoo/007-1.jpg

She and her sister were always big Joe Walsh fans and they had gone to the House Of Blues in Chicago years ago and waited in line for hours to be first in line, had gotten front and center and had actually gotten to meet him and all. Anyways, long story short, she says she knows how much I have always loved the Eagles, appreciated the tickets for the Farewell concert years ago, knew these last couple of years have been hard for me with all the hardships of losing so many in our lives and how I have credited their music for helping me thru it and knew I would appreciate this more than anyone else she knows and said she has just had it put away for years and knew I would give it a good home. She reduced me to tears and before she left we were both crying. I promised her I will have it framed and hung somewhere. She said she figured it would go with the rest of the Eagles stuff we have displayed in our bedroom.

Wow --I sure didn't expect this on a typical Friday morning. What a way to start the weekend.

That is VERY Cool Willie!! What a wonderful surprise! AND you get to play with the baby too!! *G* Lucky Lucky girl!! *G*

Willie, that is such a wonderful gift from your niece! It will look beautiful framed. Good luck with your letter to Timothy as well. I wrote to Glenn a long time ago, hoping he'd sign a cd insert for me, but I never heard any more.

Can I also say how funny I think it is that the address for the Eagles is on Glendon Avenue! Even better, GlenDon Avenue!!

gef-isn't it funny that i never even realized that--duh!! That's great!!! It could only be better if it was GlenDonTimJoe Avenue.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I have been a happy girly today after my niece did that. It really makes you feel good when someone expresses their appreciation in such a way. You know you are doing something right. And to top it off, my husband just got home awhile ago with a big bouquet of fall flowers for me. :smitten: I have apparently been a very good girl this week!;)

Hmmmmm, I wonder why the Eagles do not want people taking pictures in most concerts! I really don't think they would mind too much folks taking pictures as long as they are not disruptive with flashes and as long as they use them for non commercial purposes. But all too often, they show up on eBay like those do.

I seriously doubt that Eagles LTD granted commercial license to the ebay seller for these prints.

I agree though that Maleah's pics are every bit as good!

Amen Mike-but how do they stop it? And is this illegal? I seriously don't know, but if it is-shouldn't ebay put a stop to it? I'm really surprised the Eagles aren't all over ebay with all the pics that get sold on there.

Well, it is definitely a violation of the "rights" of the Eagles LTD. It may be that it is just not worth it for them to go after the offenders. This is pretty blatant though.

Such a shame too. A few exceptions like this of people taking pictures pretty much ruin it for those who just want pictures for personal use simply because they think so highly of the band. With stuff like this going on, it is no wonder that the Eagles ban cameras usually during concerts.

The Eagles are in the business to make money and to have someone try to capitalize on their Fame is certainly someting that could definitely be prosecuted in civil court.

It is no different than buying a CD, making a copy of it and selling the copies. Or copying a book and selling the copies without royalties going to the author.

It's just WRONG.

sodascouts

It's my understanding that it is illegal, but I'm not surprised that Ebay doesn't put a stop to it. They only do something when an auction is reported to them; they don't watch out for problems and try to prevent them. They're purely reactionary.

I did report that to eBay. They had a pretty automatic response. Said that it "looked okay" to them. If the owner of the "intelectual property" filed a complaint, they would probably remove the auction and repeat offenders would be banned from eBay. But it would take a direct complaint from the Eagles organization.

Bidding had ended by the time I got to check this link but I would be inclined to say that
1. The Eagles have been fair enough to their fans in allowing them to take pics even if they draw the line at videos. other artists don't even allow this. Many of us have been able to talke advantage of this and have come out of gigs with at least a few good pictures which we will treasure.

2. I think it is a violation of any member's rights to do this with the express purpose of selling them on eBay. They are NOT official pics.

3. If this were to continue the possibility of substandard photos being released for sale would also be an issue sooner or later. Again this would be an infringement of these guys privacy. I can't see it as being legal either!!

4. If this practice continues there is a very real possibility that the Eagles will review their policy and 'Ban' all photography, thus meaning everybody will lose out. Glenn  has said that he doesn't want to be up on youtube the night of a gig. I'm sure he doesn't want to be on eBay either!!

JMHO!!

OK. Here's the digs.. My SIL works for a major printer manufacturer in R&D and she has this kick A** printer that uses solid wax based ink and prints in high def. There is some draw backs however. The ink will only last about 3 years (maybe longer behind glass)and will NOT last in direct sunlight (The reds fade). Also (being a printer) it's subject to the resolution of the image. SO heres the scoop. I printed off some pics and I have more coming! I have two extras right now that I'm willing to share (for free.. ) with whoever speaks up first. Both images are on xerox photo paper 8.5x11. Like I said, there will be more coming.

I think this must bother me more than the musicians! Someone is cashing in on their "likenesses" and I'm quite sure they are doing it with the permission of the musicians.

But if the managmment and agents of the musicians whose rights are being violated, were to chase down and go to the expense of prosecuting, they would not only not have time to chase them all down, but would go broke in paying legal fees! Can you imagine sueing one of these characters for more than a few bucks? I'm sure they couldn't pay any penalty to amount to anything.

If it is of any consolation to you TBF, I've already reported one such picture seller as selling something that is not legitimate or that commits some copyright infringment. eBay said that they reviewed it and saw nothing that violated THEIR policies.

They said the only way they would consider removing it is if the "injured party" (meaning the Eagles) complained to them.

There is very likely so much of this crap going on that there is no way anyone affiliated with the Eagles is going to spend their time scouring the eBay listings looking for everything that might be unauthorized by them that is for sale on eBay.

But if you can get a warm fuzzy by telling off the seller, I'd say knock yourself out!

WHEN Timothy gives me a pick at the concert on the 18th (actually I told my daughter to look real cute and make eye contact with him and maybe he will give her one-she said cool-till I told her that she would of course have to give it to the woman that gave her life and bought her ticket!!)--I will buy one so I can wear it all the time. That is really pretty.

I have just been in a bidding war for a signed 'On The Border' LP. Sadly though I didn't get it. I just hope it wasn't enyone here that I was bidding against.

Joe Walsh Original 1985 Autographed 8x10 PROMO Photo (http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360105640483)
but it's starting so low, I doubt it'll sell that low. *G* Im not expecting to get it, but its too good to pass up!

Oh Boy--Believe it or not Rhonda but I just put that one and another one with a pic and signed index card on my to watch list this morning. Don't worry --I will not bid on it now!! I would rather see you get it. I figured the same thing that it probably wouldn't go cheap enough for me. The other one is starting out at 6.99, again way cheap.

This is what I bid on tho--silly because who does cassettes anymore but I couldn't help myself.

They looks great tho Willie!
Cliff's car only has a cassette player which is very weird if you think about it, it's only about 7 years old! Well go figure.
I just set up my old stereo with the dual cassette player. *G* But I dont do tapes so you go for it! *G*
Thanks about the picture. I'd love to have it, but Like I said, it's way too good of a deal. *G* Im sure someone will scoop in and grab it for a lot more! but it's worth a shot!

Ticky, I saw this and thought of you

http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:VRI&item=380080559040

I was bidding on this for Laura but it went too high at £77! It was only £5 when it started.
http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=140280437712

And then there's this pick.
http://cgi.ebay.ie/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&item=230306157403

I started the bidding at $10 and its now $25 with 2 days to go! I'm not spending that and it will go a lot higher methinks as there seem to be at least 2 prople interested in it.

Good luck with the bidding!!

Good luck to everyone who has put a bid in! GA, that Joe photo you posted for Ticky is beautiful. He looks so sweet and relaxed there.

I really need to get into this eBay thing.

True to my word, I finally succumbed and spent last night "getting into the eBay thing". I bought a tourbook from '76, which I am really excited about :yay: I also ordered Glenn's Live In Dublin DVD, after a little persuasion from Ga. I can't wait for them to arrive.

LOL. That's why I held out so long, Willie. I knew I would get completely addicted! Still, it's fun. It's opened up a whole new world of Eagles stuff for me to get my grubby little paws on!

Once you go eBay you never go back... I've been hooked for something like 8 or 9 years now. First place I go for almost anything I am looking to buy online. Sometimes I go for months without buying a thing and then other times I go on a bit of a buying frenzy (like this last month with the Eagles goodies...). Have fun with it Lou:partytime:
