Re: Eagles Mentions in the Press
It's not really meant to be taken that seriously.
Some of the points about HC are valid. For all the myth of it being the big guitar album which showcases Walsh & Felder that really only happens on two tracks, the title track & LITFL. Apart from Victim Of Love the rest of it is indeed 'mellow'.
However, the usual cliches about Henley's 'smugness' & the inevitable Big Lebowski reference & the 'they were too successful' stuff ultimately negates any point they try to make. They are also completely wrong about Jann Wenner. Rolling Stone hated the Eagles & to this day only write about them very reluctantly.
Re: Eagles Mentions in the Press
Lindsey Buckingham sometimes wishes Fleetwood Mac were the Eagles! Here's the quote, taken from a recent Rolling Stone article:
"Still, [Fleetwood Mac]'s famously contentious dynamic has left Buckingham with a sense of humor, not to mention an appreciation for other argumentative artists. 'Sometimes I wish we were the Eagles. That's one thing they've always been able to do is want the same thing for the same reasons,' Buckingham says with a dry laugh. 'They probably don't share the same sensibilities as people and they may not spend much time together, but somehow they're able to put that aside and get on with the business of doing business, and there's something to be said for that.'"

Re: Eagles Mentions in the Press
This is an article about Jack Tempchin & the 40th anniversary of "Peaceful Easy Feeling". It tells the story of how jack wrote it & how the Eagles came to record it. Mention was made of the fact that Jack was interviewed at length for the upcoming history of the Eagles.

Re: Eagles Mentions in the Press
Great find, Ann. I love this part---
"The acoustic guitar in question was a used Stella, which he had bought at a downtown pawn shop for $13. ("I still have that guitar and play it from time to time," Tempchin noted.)At the time, he and his guitar -- which had a homemade strap made of string -- were virtually inseparable."
$13 and he still has and plays it---I'd say he got his money there. :hilarious: And the strap made of string. I LOVE hearing these kind of stories!!!
Re: Eagles Mentions in the Press
Yeah, don't you wish you were walking down the street back then and saw a long haired hippy guy sitting on the concrete table at the Wienerschnitzel with a guitar with a string for a strap, strumming and singing, "This voice keeps whispering in my other ear, tells me I may never see you again." ?
*sigh* I was born 10 years too late and 2000 miles too far east!
