Better watch 'em quick before they disappear! :partytime:
I missed this one yesterday

but....
What in the world is Don thinking of....don't know about the rest of you but I think it sounds awful, I didn't even listen to the end! :-(
and this one ...

Don's been known to change things up before. I nearly always prefer the original versions.
Yeah, he's done that slowed-down version of The End Of The Innocence before. I don't think it sounds awful, but I'd probably agree in this case that I'd rather hear the original. (He does kick into the original tempo halfway through the song, though.)
One slowed-down version that kills me is his Boys Of Summer performance on Storytellers. It's so sexy!
I have noticed in a couple of recent clips that Don's voice has faltered... but it is a crappy time of year for sniffles/throat problems! He seems to sound really husky at times and, like Dreamer once said, he literally doesn't sound like he can get through a show, and then you hear another song and he just NAILS IT, high notes and all! I guess it happens to everyone. Voices are bound to get strained with the cold and after so many shows.
Thanks Carole for all of your 'research'. I actually like the slow arrangement of EOTI for a change. I think it probably plays better if you are actually there. I usually also prefer the original arrangements too, but I don't mind them mixing it up a bit from time to time, especially at solo shows.
I think the guys are bound to struggle with their voices from time to time. Shoot - it's amazing to me that they hold up as well as they do. As I said earlier - after the Louisville show, it took me three days to get my voice back.
I personally find that arrangement very moving and poignant. The first time I heard it live, it was staggering in its power.
Soda - I agree with you. When he sang that version in Chicago last year it blew me away. However, everything he sings does that to me.
Tequila Girl - Thanks for finding those and sharing. Needless to say I managed to get all of them copied before there taken down.
I think when you slow a song like that down, it just adds a more moving, poignant (as Soda said), and powerful moment. I generally would rather hear an original version, but I love to see things switched up sometimes. Take the HFO version of Heart of the Matter for instance, it's actually my favorite! Or as Lou mentioned, the Boys of Summer VH1 performance.....goosebumps! The key for all of these though is that as enjoyable as it is to watch/listen to the recordings, I'm sure they were even more amazing live.....as most performances are!
As for their voices struggling......it IS crazy how Don can sound SO raspy that it sounds like his voice will give out on one song.....and then be crystal clear on the next. I love rasp though, so I don't mind. ;) I don't understand how they can sing so often and still have their voices though. When my friends had a party and wanted to sing most of the night, my voice felt like it was fading after a half hour! I can't imagine doing that for 3 hours a night! LOL
I don't know if others have seen this, but it's new to me. A video of Don performing the Bob Dylan classic "Times they are a changing" It's a great version!

Yeah, I've seen it before timfan :inlove: but thanks for bringing it back to the forefront!
Thanks Timfan, that was GREAT! It was new to me :).
I also love the Trisha Yearwood/Don Henley video of "Inside Out" which has some lovely shots of Don smiling. :faint:
I've seen both those videos before and love them. Have to agree about the Inside out video and the smiley Don. Can never get enough of that
Came across this video the other day from Vimeo. A message from Don. Steady fellow female Don fans. :faint:Especially if your name is Lisa. :hilarious:

There are no words.
:thud::thud::thud::thud: :thud:

Ah... I love it. He looks amazing with that beard, and he's so cute when he's introducing the Dukes of September! That was such a treat. Thank you so much. I've almost calmed down...
:hilarious: :hilarious: Watch it again then. That should get you worked up again. :nahnah: :hilarious: :hilarious:
I wait for my girls to go to school then start my morning off with him.
Better than Jeremy Kyle! ;)
:nahnah: :nahnah: :nahnah: :nahnah: Oh yeah !!!!
Just watched the video. All I can say about how Don looks is WOW !!!!
Be still my heart.
Did he say "hello Louise"? I think I heard him say "hello Louise". ;) :hilarious:
Great find!! Looks very very handsome and love to hear him talk!
In my mind he did. But then in my mind he also said "Come run away with me, baby. I can't live without you anymore." So I dunno...
Hmmm can I make Lisa into Melanie :eyebrow: :hilarious: :hilarious: :hilarious:
Don is such a good spokesperson and really cares about this cause, not to mention he looks hot!
I just saw the video now,I have not noticed it before. I must say he looks great, love the beard!
Wow!!! Just Wow!!! Lou, told me in a text about that video but seeing it for myself is just....Wow!! It's a good thing i'm sitting down right now because that made me a little weak in the knees. He looks so great and I've always loved that beard but even just the way he talks is captivating. PM said it right, he really is a good spokesperson. I thought the same thing when I saw him give the lecture on the Caddo Lake Institute a few years ago. He stood up at that podium for more than an hour talking and never missed a beat. He's such a great speaker.
Here he is with Stevie on the "Two Voices" tour in 2005.

That is beautiful. Love the way Stevie is mouthing the words when Don is singing in the 2nd verse.
Love the touches and hugs during that!
I agree TG. How lucky is that Stevie one. :scowl:
Don and Stevie have some amazing chemistry when they sing together. Great performance!! :applause:
I was browsing Youtube earlier and came across this video. I'm not quite sure but I think I've seen this before. Oh well, it's still pretty darn good. Don looks great too.
