Re: Discussion of Eagles Documentary "History of the Eagles"
Sodascouts, I hope you are NOT beating yourself up over these song co writes. This mistake is on the interns if they were the ones who looked up the credits. I don't think they should have been using a fan site for information, no matter how great and informative the site is. I find that incredulous! IMO, I would think anyone truly interested in the songwriting credits would check out the actual album, cd or the artist's website. This is NOT on you!
Re: Discussion of Eagles Documentary "History of the Eagles"
Dear Glenn,
I apologize for suspecting you of attempting to diminish the contributions of your band mate. I don't know what would have made me think that way. Please forgive me.
Love,
Mary

It's doubtful, but I guess we can't rule it out.
Soda, like I mentioned before, I have a coworker who was at one of the concerts and he's given me two different versions of the evening. I'm thinking most of the crowd was too high, drunk, or both to have really appreciated it. Hey, they had a good time and that's all that counts!
VA, first you say there is a good & viable reason the names were changed around, & then you say it could be a mistake by an intern or clerk? I'm not really buying that as an explanation. It was deliberate. We may never know the real reason, but to me it seems like a power play...That is just my opinion, but I really don't see another reason for the change...
Writing credits are important, & I can't see that as a "mistake"
These things are proof read & approved by several people before they go to print. I worked in print media & something like that would be noticed by someone, especially on an album like HFO which is the first album in a long time.
I do think nowadays a lot more "mistakes" get by, because people just "assume" information on the web is correct, but back in the 90's there was no internet to refer to. I am sure something like that would be noticed.

It has to do with Glenn retelling the story of why Randy left the band. Glenn could have said, "Randy was unhappy and decided to leave", and left it at that, but instead he mentions the "Take It to the Limit" issue and says that he told Randy, "If you don't want to sing it, then why don't you f**king quit? If you're so unhappy, just quit." Glenn may have been 100% right about the situation, but I feel that it was very disrespectful to Randy. Randy wasn't just some lackey, he, and Bernie for that matter, were founding members of the Eagles along with Glenn and Don H. and I don't think Glenn's comments were called for in the retelling.
Thanks for listening, I feel better now. :fingerwag:

Springbo, I understand what you're saying and feel the same way but then I saw what FP wrote and she's right.... I'm glad he reported things accurately of how they happened. I still don't like the way it made me feel about Glenn and what kind of person I perceived him as being but the truth is the truth. I, for one, am glad it was done this way and even tho I didn't like Glenn's behavior when it came to these things in the doc, I know at least he was honest in expressing the way he felt and how it all went down. Does that make sense?
As for all of this about the song writing credits----- Seriously, I hardly think if the interns or whoever was responsible for getting these things right for the doc isn't doing their job correctly and instead resorted to using a fan site for accurate information, that Soda or anyone else who has a fan site online that they may have used info from, can be held responsible. I mean, you're working on a freaking HISTORY OF THE EAGLES DOCUMENTARY, should you really be relying on fan sites for your information? :doh:I say 50 lashes and you'll never work in this town again!!! JK, But seriously, you couldn't find the actual albums laying around somewhere to get the info off of?

As I said, I'm not really buying it, either, but it can't be a 100% assumption as to err is human. As for the rest, you are entitled to your opinion, I'm entitled to mine. One change of order on one song on one album doesn't sound like a power play to me, especially when it doesn't impact the $$.
I prefer to look at Glenn and Don as human beings and not 'gods'. They aren't perfect, nor are they completely evil people who have a greedy, power-play approach to their every thought. They're somewhere in the middle, just like I am. I refuse to expect more from people just because they're famous or a genius with music.
Sorry for the rant and for the record, it wasn't directed at anyone here...

TBF, I agree about being glad they didn't attempt to rewrite history. They've already been accused of that by not dwelling on the power struggle between themselves enough, even though they seemed to have gotten over that as early as 1982.
As for the interns finding the actual albums, I'm guessing here, but to me 'intern' implies 'young'. Do they even know what vinyl is??:lol:

:hilarious: A very good and valid point!! Hadn't thought of that! ;-)
Re: Discussion of Eagles Documentary "History of the Eagles"
Any Intern working on an Eagles documentary should know what vinyl is, & if they don't, these albums are on CD, and or cassette. They can't be total IDIOTS working on this thing. I don't even think something like that would be given to interns to do....Interns work is usually checked by someone else.
As for HFO, even if the writing credits are a mistake, they would be corrected on a reprint. I am sure they have been printed several times over since the first release.
As for the DVD, I would hope if they reprint that, everything would be corrected as well. I really hate to see mistakes like that go by.

You are right, TK. After the morning I've had I'm pretty sure all the IDIOTS work with me, but that's a story for a different thread.
I hope they correct it as well on a reprint... I never thought about the ability to do that.
