I think we're casting aspersions on a lil' old lady who only wanted to help out a friend. She contacted Jim Stingl to help her find the right person at Summerfest to help her out, and it was Summerfest, not her, who decided to contact the Eagles. I honestly don't think her intent in this was to pity-shame the Eagles into upgrading her tickets...

Actually, re-reading it several times because it's not clear, she called the reporter dude and he called 'Fest'. 'Fest' told him it was sold out and nothing really could be done.
THEN he says the guy at 'Fest (Boler)' called Joyce to tell her it was taken care of:
Quote:
After hearing the story of Joyce and Ron, Summerfest is making the magic happen for them. The festival is contacting the Eagles' management to secure two spots — one for Ron's chair and a seat next to him for Joyce — in the wheelchair area behind the reserved seating sections, for no extra charge.
...
Boler called Joyce on Friday with the news.
"I'm overwhelmed," she told me. "I would have been very happy up on the hill, but this is so very kind."
Sounds like it's already been fixed.

Agreed!!! She's 74 years old and I think it's wonderful that she did this. How many of our 74 year old parents would know about a lawn seat at a festival? Mine sure wouldn't have.
As far as putting pressure on the Eagles by making it public? I say kudos to them for doing it!!!! I'll be pretty disappointed if they don't cough up a couple seats for them.

Wow, sorry you feel that way...I think this woman has nothing but the best intent for her friend. Manipulative??? Seriously? That's pretty harsh, don't you think?? I don't think it's to put pressure on the Eagles, but hopefully they will pull through for them.
When she purchased the lawn tickets, she thought she could bring the wheelchair in. Sheesh, the guy had never been to a concert. I'm sure life in a wheelchair is not a lot of fun...
I would also be upset if they don't come up with some tickets for them!
Re: Eagles Mentions in the Press
Like I said, rereading the article, I think it's a done deal, they got the seats behind the board.

I agree with you AEW21 and with you TK..
Re: Eagles Mentions in the Press
I've seen way too many pity-shame attempts of the Eagles and others through the years to be so totally convinced that a little old lady wasn't going for that angle. It's a shame that mistrust and cynicism has been beaten into me like that, but it has. So I can totally see why Soda thought what she thought. I know when I want to find the right person to call at a place like that, I ask the one who says they can't help who can help and keep calling until I find someone. Calling a journalist usually means you want it published somewhere, so that everyone is aware of whatever the problem is. I'm not saying this was the case with this lady. Maybe she didn't call him because he was a journalist, but a regular person with some knowledge of the festival who also happened to be a journalist. Since it was taken care of, we may never know...
Re: Eagles Mentions in the Press
The first thought of the little old ladies I know would not be to call a journalist; this one is obviously pretty savvy. That's not necessarily a bad thing, of course, especially if you judge by results - she got them. Hope they enjoy the show. :)
Re: Eagles Mentions in the Press
Look what I found, this blog calls the Eagles the second worst band of all time, what the hell. They're not the only ridiculous choice in this list either. Whoever wrote this is clueless.

Check out the comments, almost everyone agrees that this list is a joke.

The woman is in her 70's. She was just looking for someone to help her out. I don't think she was looking for publicity or to shame the Eagles into anything.
How cynical can you get? She spent her money for tickets that she couldn't use, & when she tried for other seats was told it was sold out.
She was paying for a friend in a wheelchair to see his first ever concert... I hope I'm never that mistrusting of some little old ladies intentions.
