I don't know if non-subscribers can buy older issues but I have to tell you, it is only four pages & it is just the Cameron Crowe article you would have read on here plus a one page account of the events leading up to his death.
Crap. Well, I can't cancel my order now as it's already been shipped. I'm the kind of person who likes to have a physical copy of things, so that's why it's worth it to me. I did find that Bowie one for cheap on Evay as well. I just wish that I hadn't gotten the issues mixed up. Thanks for pointing that out, FP.
Re: Glenn in the Press/Blogs/etc.
I got this in a Google alert yesterday. I haven't had time to listen to interview to see what year it's from. (Judging from the photo, I'd say 2013). Sorry if it's been posted before.

Re: Glenn in the Press/Blogs/etc.
Thanks AG95. I don't think that I have heard that one before.
Re: Glenn in the Press/Blogs/etc.
Yeah - thanks AG. It's an After Hours promo interview from 2012 most likely. I don't remember hearing it before either, although my memory sure ain't what it used to be.
Re: Glenn in the Press/Blogs/etc.
I hadn't heard it before and I feel like I've tried all the links posted here that are still live. It was for After Hours. Maybe nothing particularly new but I love to hear him talk. On radio interviews, he sounds so relaxed and warm, especially if they're for his solo projects.
Re: Glenn in the Press/Blogs/etc.
The April issue of Mojo has a page on Glenn that benefits from an interview in 1985. I've extracted the new(ish) bits and included the comment on his solo career because it's rare to see it acknowledged.
Quote:
January 18
It's April 4,1985, and Glenn Frey's in London at the BBC. He's here to do
his Beverly Hills Cop hit, The Heat Is On, on Top Of The Pops. He asks for
a beer and when they tell him the Beeb serves no alcohol until after
showtime, he just laughs, no diva fit, accepting a Coke can with a smile.
I'd been interviewing him and when I asked what he would say about
himself, he answered, "I don't know: that I'm a nice guy? That I'm really not a laid-back Southern California country-rock kind of guy." He looks like
a cast member of The Sopranos dressed for a part in Miami Vice. "I
don't see myself as 'a star' at all. I guess you could say I'm an entertainer. But I'm a songwriter first and foremost. Writing is my first love and what's most important to me."
Quote:
If the critics hated them, theydidn't much like each other either. "It was the same with every record we made," Frey said. "By the time we finished, I'd walk out of the studio and get on the plane and say, I'm never going to do this again, no matter what." By Eagles Live (1980), the final album under their contract, Frey had quit, refused to speak to his bandmates and worked on his parts separately. The album famously credits five lawyers.
Quote:
Frey's '80s solo career, if not as dizzying as Eagles', was a success:
soundtrack songs for Beverly Hills Cop, Ghostbusters II and Thelma & Louise.
In 1985, Miami Vice based an entire episode on his hit Smuggler's Blues,
and Frey made his acting debut playing a junkie pilot. A handful of TV
and film roles followed, including the starring role in the 1993 detective
series South Of Sunset, cancelled after one episode.
Quote:
"It's one of those things," said Frey, ..."Like McCartney will always be a Beatle, I'll be an Eagle all my life."
Re: Glenn in the Press/Blogs/etc.
Thanks so much, UTW. I enjoyed reading that.
Re: Glenn in the Press/Blogs/etc.
I enjoyed it, too. The "no beer until after showtime" bit made me laugh. Thanks!
Re: Glenn in the Press/Blogs/etc.
..loved it..thank you..
Re: Glenn in the Press/Blogs/etc.
Thanks UTW. I loved that. What a guy our Glenn  was.
