I doubt very highly that Joe is a wuss, but I don't think he's alpha and I don't think he would want to stir the pot with Glenn by becoming friends (at least publicly) with Felder again... If you ask me, I think Joe isn't the one at fault here. I think he just wants to be in that band and honestly I think he's afraid of that being jeopardized by talking about Felder, being friends publicly, or playing together.
correct my memory nicely please but didnt Joe thank GF on his album for all his support??
I think he is greatful to glenn for being a true friend when he needed one and helping him get into rehab..jmo

Austin was speculating on Joe's relationship with Felder, not his relationship with Glenn. The thank you to Glenn on Analog Man is specifically related to One Day At A Time.
I don't know what sort of 'friendship' Joe had with Felder & because I don't know, I cannot speculate.
Re: Discussion of Eagles Documentary "History of the Eagles"
I didn't mean for my question about Joe's insecurities and approval-seeking to dredge up the Felder firing again. If it did, I'm sorry. My curiosity was purely sociological. I'm fascinated that Joe had so much respect for Glenn back then. When you add to that the fact that he credits Glenn for helping him get sober...well, that's quite a strong relationship.

They definitely seem to have a real connection. Not just Joe for Glenn but vice versa.
Glenn has said that he listened to the James Gang and thought they were awesome before he even formed the Eagles. I get the feeling that Glenn felt (and still feels) Joe is the coolest Eagle, lol.
In fact, I watched The One show, and when Joe casually mentioned he had hung out with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr the night before, Glenn looks at HIM in awe. "That's so cool!" Glenn said excitedly, wide-eyed. It was too cute!

Definitely! I like to watch Glenn's face when Joe's really getting into something.
As we've stated, they never mentioned the Party of Two in the documentary. Glenn did those with Joe and not someone else, even though Joe was, according to the movie and his interviews a year ago, at a pretty bad point with his addictions. To me, that speaks volumes about what he thought (and thinks) of Joe.

I haven't seen it either. I keep trying to get it from my library, but it is always checked out. I was able to get the Melbourne concert from Netflix, and I DVR'd the documentary (so I can watch it over and over:headbang:), but I still haven't seen HFO!! I don't feel like I need to own it, but I do want to see it! Will keep working on trying to get my hands on a copy, without having to pay retail! Maybe eBay.

The doc didn't go into details on it, but the articles I posted from the early 80s (about 50 pages previous to this), interviews with Don and Glenn, talked more about the day to day build-up of complaints that ended with the straw that broke the camel's back in Long Beach. In one or more of them, both Don and Glenn said that Glenn went out of his way to try and keep the peace. I think the words Glenn used was 'subordinate himself.'
I know it's probably a girl thing, and not a guy thing, and I realize it was years after the firing of Felder, but if anyone ever put in a book my personal hygiene habits, or lack thereof, like Felder did Joe's, I'd never speak to that person again, guaranteed.
Maybe, just maybe, it was more than not wanting to stir a pot. Maybe Joe agreed with Glenn (and Henley's) point of view. I don't think we can assume that Joe wanted to remain friends with Felder and felt he couldn't for fear of upsetting Glenn and Don. I think, if I remember correctly (am I remembering correctly?) that Felder said in his book that he tried several times to get Joe and Tim to agree with him and neither were interested. There must be reasons for that, and more than not wanting to upset Glenn and Don IMO. I may be wrong, but we don't know for sure.
Possibly, but I have a very hard time believing Joe has bad feelings towards Felder or doesn't like him. Just watch any of the seventies-HFO era videos and it's clear they were a duo and had great chemistry together, and I'll even go out on a limb and say loved each other as players. They really, really liked each other. Maybe Joe did want Felder to go along with it, but maybe it was because he wanted Felder to be in the band and he knew he'd not last long if he didn't.
I do think Glenn and Joe get along pretty well, but I do think Joe being public friends or jamming again might upset Glenn, who knows. JMO. But I agree they do like each other. There is a reason they have the Party Of Two shows. That said, I think Joe loved Felder too and really enjoyed playing with him.

You didn't PM, it was me that brought up the Felder connection. It wasn't you. :)
