Bringing up the "Teen King" nickname, where did that come from? Glenn was in his 20's. Were the groupies teenagers? I would have thought they would have been at least 20 themselves since they were free to follow him around. Hmmmmm.......
Brooke, I remember Glenn saying that Linda Ronstadt came up with the name. He said that she once told him something like ‘oh, you’re just a teen king’. I guess the name must have stuck. lol
With regard to age, sadly, I believe it is well documented that some of the groupies were indeed teenagers.
Some of us just have a thing for older men. :D Dare I admit to dating men in their 20's when I was a teen? For that matter, when I was 18 I married a man 9 years older than me.
As a mother of a teenage daughter I'm checking ID's before anyone takes my Babygirl anywhere! :stop:
I'm one of those women who have a thing for older men, too. My hubby is also nine years older than me, but we met when I was 25 and he was 34, so it didn't seem like such a large difference.
Isn't it funny how we don't want our daughters to do the same things we did though? It's the old "do like I say, not like I do" syndrome.
Looking back it's hard to believe my folks bought the, "he's only 17, 18, 19" bit. They must have known and just not fought me on it. Actually, it was the guys closer to my age who treated me badly and the older ones who treated me right so maybe they knew more than I gave them credit for at the time.
Since we are on this subject I, too, have only dated older guys and ended up marrying someone 10 years older than me. I don't think I've every dated anyone my own age or close to it. In fact, before I met my hubby I almost married a guy 13 years older than me  LOL
Gee, my hubby's only 5 years older than I am so that doesn't seem like a big deal at all. I was 17 and he was 22 when we met. No one batted an eye about the age difference. Not my parents, not my 6 big brothers, not any of our friends. He treated me well, everyone liked him, he had graduated from college and had a good job. I was the youngest and I think my parents could smell the finish line of raising their family. They were thrilled when I moved in with him when I was barely 18. Freedom for everyone! Well, except Ditka -he's still stuck with me!
Today, everything is different. The first question I ask my boys when they bring a girl around is "How old is she?"
Well here's a strange one. I always went for guys that were at least several years older than me. Then I met my hubby and he was .......one month younger :o . In saying that he looked older and had a more mature outlook on life than other lads my own age would have. I assumed he was older and was quite surprised when I realisewd we were in fact the same age. He says himself that he was always like an 'old head on young shoulders'. So maybe that was the attraction. That was 17 years ago. We were both 22.
