You guys are so lucky to receive signed copies! Congrats!
Thank you
From me, too.
It's behind glass doors in a bookcase in my office, while another copy of the CD is stored with the rest of my Eagles/solo CDs.
Here's an article from the Guardian. He also briefly talks about Don Felder. Tell us how you really feel, Don. LOL
A good article.

Vinyl definitely is making a comeback. In just over a year's time, I went from thinking "vinyl is old and outdated" to now having a collection that's overflowing(I'm running out of room for storing them. I'm not the only one. People my age are discovering the richness of the sound of vinyl, and people of my mom's age are rediscovering what they grew up with. All in all, I think it's a good thing.
I only have one problem with reissues, it's when they cost more than the original copies. Case in point: Bad Company's Straight Shooter album. Earlier this year, I was in FYE, and they had a used copy of that album for $5 and the new reissue was $30. Despite Bad Company being my favorite band, I just couldn't bring myself to pay $30 for a new copy. (It wasn't the brand new cd/vinyl reissue with the bonus cd or record. That's still on my want list).
Back to CC, the vinyl sounds amazing, just so rich. I'm glad that CC was released on vinyl.
Now, cassettes still have somewhat of a following, but 8-tracks? Most of them, you can't give away!
I love the vinyl version - I've just been listening to it and I have to say that Don just sounds AMAZING!!!!!:heart::heart:
The young-uns are talking about Don Henley.
It's nasty :x; http://www.stereogum.com/1834828/don...eres-the-beef/
Surely this belongs in the Don Henley forum? I'm afraid I can't move it. Stuff like this is posted on the internet every day. Fortunately we have this board where for the most part we can keep this stuff away.
Frank Ocean turned Hotel California into American Wedding. He's since become a highly respected artist. By dissing Frank Ocean and Kanye West, Don shows a high level of ignorance and alienates a huge potential audience for the Eagles.
Don's been harping on about how he listened to the radio (for free) as a kid. Today's kids don't listen to the radio, they're on YouTube. They are just as much products of their environment as Don is.
Felder should team up with Frank Ocean to produce their own version of American Wedding but I believe Ocean has honoured a request, not to sing it again.
I don't the name of this chart, but they have Don at no. 1 slightly ahead of George. Don knocked Drake and Future(heard of drake, but this Future guy) from no.1.

Nearly 82,000 copies sold in a week? Nice!
I looked on Billboard, both top 200 and the country charts, no sign of CC at the moment, and they had updated the charts to the week of October 10th.
According to Wikipedia, Don's album is charting fairly well in other countries. (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cass_County_(album), click on charts). It's #7 in the UK and #14 in Ireland.
Cass County is number 7 in the UK album chart (Thanks AG95). Don must be delighted with that. It's exceptional for a country album. It's certainly his highest chart position.

It compares very favourably with Eagles. Hell Freezes Over went no higher than 18.

Don played some UK dates in 1989 in support of The End Of The Innocence which spent 5 weeks in the top 100, with a highest chart position of 48.
It all bodes well for some UK (& Ireland) dates.:smile:
Listen to this clip. Go Don!!!! Go Don!!! Its your birtday. Its your birthday.

Don did an interview on WCBS3 in Phoenix tonight. I'm still looking for the whole interivew. It hasn't popped up yet, but the journalist posted a few clips on his twitter page.

I could look for a second source but if Don says Cass County is number 1, It's good enough for me.

Don looks truly delighted. It's wonderful news. :D
I wonder if he was talking about the country album chart. wtg Don.

I have no idea how the charts work. On something called Popvortex's country chart, Cass County is #3. The only single on the top 100 is Take A Picture of This at #97. Does anyone know what singles are being released, or is that still a thing? (I'm so behind the times!)

Soda, I got that "shipping not available" right after the release date (although it had been available right before). I was kicking myself for not ordering online, but I was so annoyed, I kept checking back, and it became available again. While I don't actually have it in my hands, it is enroute to my home, via tracking information. Maybe they have limited supplies? I agree that is frustrating. I would say to keep checking if you are not in a hurry to get it and don't want to drive far, but of course, I don't know Target's actual situation. Sorry if that post was misleading! Ugh!
I was looking at the Billboard charts and Take a Picture Of This has been going up and down for almost a month on the Adult Contemporary charts. One week it would be 14, then 16, then 14. IT doesn't know where to go. Its at 17 this week or in this case next week date.
I did receive mine from Target on-line today, at home. So far I like the sound of it. Hopefully Target will stock these more consistently on-line to save everyone the long drive.
When I look on their site at this moment, it is available for shipping.
Has anyone bought a copy from Walmart? I was curious to see if my Walmart had any copies. They had 3 regular copies, and a $20 copy with a Cass County t-shirt in my size. The t-shirt is gray and says 'Greetings from Cass County" and Don Henley underneath. I didn't know that this was available. (I bought it :partytime:). I'll upload a photo of the shirt when I get home.
I did see that one in Wal-Mart, AG. I bought the Target CD for the bonus tracks. I'm going to give the extra CD to my sister, who likes country music and is in a nursing home at the moment, but I get the t-shirt!
I've really enjoyed reading and listening to all these interviews Don is doing. He has seemed pretty comfortable and relaxed while promoting his album, and it looks as if he is enjoying himself. I do have one observation though - Don's candid comments about the current state of country music may not endear him to some in the country music community. Even though I'm sure it is not his intention - some folks could interpret his comments as being pompous, demeaning, or condescending. Hopefully, I'm just being overly sensitive and no one will be offended.
And BTW - Congrats to lucky NOLA and DevineDon on your signed copies of Cass County. That is fantastic!!!
Congrats to Don. He will debut at no. 3 on the Billboard Album charts(his highest ever on Billboard) and no. 1 on the Country Album charts. Not bad for a 68 year old.

Fads and fashion will come and go but good music will ALWAYS find an audience. Well done Mr. Henley.
There's a possibility that Don will truly be on Jimmy Kimmel this Thursday. I am still trying to info to make sure.
Don's been giving away albums with concert tickets. Jack Tempchin has posted a link publicising L.A. Tickets being given away with CDs bought at Amoeba Music. While supplies last. Limit 1 ticket per album.

Now THAT is a deal!
Congrats to Don on his album's success!
Then also Niall Horan from One Direction is promoting Don's album on his twitter page. He's got great taste in music and he's getting his fans who are under 20 to listen to Don.

Niall Horan @NiallOfficial Oct 4 Ladies and gents ... My favourite guy of all time Mr.Don Henley has an album out this week that you should get and get it high up the charts
I saw on facebook that Linden have a ribbon cutting ceremony of a billboard of Cass County this Friday at 2:00pm. It'll be located on Hwy 59 in Linden (next to the EZ Mart/Shell station) How cool is that. I will get to see it later this month.
If anyone is wants to see what the Walmart shirt looks like and the box it came in:

I received my copy yesterday (as I am not in the US my version has 16 tracks; I would doubt that Target Australia would sell the 18 track version).
Of interest to me & probably nobody else is that on many tracks the bassist is Glenn Worf, Mark Knopfler's bass player. I also took note of the gushing special thanks to Steuart Smith.
It's difficult to follow The Billboard Charts, in my opinion but Don's Cass County is the number 3 best selling album, plus he's number 1 in 3 of the other album categories they publish.
Here's an article from Vintage Vinyl News

Veteran artists at the top of other Billboard charts:
Album Sales - Cass County - Don Henley

Jazz Albums - The Silver Lining: The Music of Jerome Kern - Tony Bennett & Bill Charlap
Latin Pop Albums - Mexico - Julio Iglesias
Catalog Albums - The Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd
Tastemaker Albums - Cass County - Don Henley
Outselling George Strait is quite an achievement.
Looks like 2016 could be a barren year for the Eagles, good news for solo projects.Quote:
Don Henley has officially won the battle of new country albums with his Cass County debuting at number 3 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums compared to a number 4 start for George Strait's Cold Beer Conversation.
It's an even bigger defeat on the Country Albums where Henley starts at 1 and Strait at 2, breaking George's sixteen year, nine album streak of number 1's. His last set not to make the summit was 1999's Always Never the Same which also went to number 2.
Wow! I am surprised Don would outsell George Strait! Amazing!
I was shocked too, Brooke. Heck I'm shocked that George is back since he was suppose to retired. I guess he couldn't stay away too long.
Like Don, George doesn't like to do interviews or even go to awards that much, but Don knows he has to do promote his album for it to do good. So we won't see George promoting his album. He might show up at the country awards, but seeing him on talk shows and late night shows you won't see him doing that.
The CMAs are on November 4th. I wonder if they will ask Don to sing. He is free on the 4th, but he would had to go leave immediately after the show to head to DC for the next show.
I'm still listening to CC. Hasn't left the cd player in my car yet, but I'm still not ready to decide what I like better than what!
Hubby and I were listening to it on the way to church Sunday and he thought Bramble Rose would be a great awards show song if he could get Miranda and Mick to share the stage with him. Can you imagine those 3 on stage together and the hype it would create?
