I think it's actually hate against the insinuation that we're expected to sleep with our so-called superiors to obtain employment. Mere speculation on my part.
Re: Eagles Song Survivor: The Long Run
The opinions on King Of Hollywood are interesting. I understand them, but I don't really get the 'ick' factor when I think about the song itself, because the song is criticising this kind of power play and exploitation. The "King" is the only one who comes off as pathetic and dirty - not the women.
Having said that, I might surprise a few people here (including myself), when I cast my vote for that very song - King Of Hollywood. I love it, but I think the remaining songs - bar Those Shoes, which is immune - are probably slightly superior. I absolutely adore In The City. The guitar work is incredible, as are the harmonies - I love Joe's raw vocals. It seriously rocks live, and it gets me going every time I hear it. That last minute or so of the song is on another level. I can't bring myself to vote for it right now, not even to save King Of Hollywood.

I agree with Willie!
As far as anyone hating these song, I must have missed something. I don't recall anyone saying that they hated either of them. It's just that we're at that time in the game where everything left is a good song. But something has to go, so people have to vote off songs even if they like them.

Soda, I really meant that the performance of KOH was what I find sexy. Not the man himself! Ick!

Yes, the subject matter is seedy, but it's all packaged up in a sleek, heady, shiny exterior, much like the circumstances that the girls (wannabe actresses) in the song encounter. Everything is appealing. Los Angeles must seem like a pretty cool place when you roll up there, seeking fame and fortune and adventure. All these offers from wealthy, powerful people are exciting and tempting, and you get taken in by the promises and the expensive gifts. But lurking beneath the surface is greed and exploitation. The song is dangerous, but it's delivered in a sexy, atmospheric way. I think it absolutely works and does a great job of capturing the dichotomy between the shiny surface and the dark underbelly of Hollywood for those young women seeking stardom.
The guitar work is moody, it's rhythmic and it has a heady evening vibe, the lyrics are daring and dangerous, the harmonies are smooth, and Don's vocals are SMOKIN' hot. It's sexy on some level because it's meant to be.
Troub-I wish I could talk like you. You are very eloquent and spot on.
Willie, you silly girl! :hilarious:
And now to continue on. Sorry I missed all the mess, but glad I get another chance for this round!
Another thought about KOH. I don't dwell on the subject matter of a song. It's the voices and the music that first tell me whether to like a song or not. But that's just me. Everyone's different.
So, for this round, I vote for I Can't Tell You Why.

Well...I did say I hated Glenn's vocals in KOH . Okay, 'hate' is such a strong word, but I really, really dislike his vocals there.
I vote for King of Hollywood.

Point taken, PM.
The only reason I even posted anything is because this seems to come up in just about every Survivor game - just because people are voting for a song doesn't mean they hate it. At some point in every Survivor game, all the songs are good, but ya gotta vote for them anyway. It's no biggie though - just caught me at a bad moment I guess.
Re: Eagles Song Survivor: The Long Run
ITA with ABM and PM on KOH. ;)
Ah, how I love our alphabet soup! lol
