CPL,
Troubador, GlennsAllnighter, WildThyme and I and sometimes Soda or others gather in chat in the afternoons (PST) but it's not a set time, just a whim. Otherwise we have planned video chat parties every now and then, but you'll get plenty of advanced warning on those. If you see anyone in there, feel free to pop in and say howdy!

I'm trying to figure out how to post pictures but be patient it may take me awhile. If you click on the pictures they will come up bigger. These had to be taken in Sep because Joe is talking about the death of Les Paul and showing his Les Paul collection.

This just cracked me up and also got me thinking --the 70's, hmmm :hmm: I'm sure there was a time or 2--his songs were played a lot on car radios back then.
BTW---Welcome CPL!!! Glad you found us here and hope you join in often!
Re: Walsh Worship: The Joe Walsh Photo Thread
Cool finds, AEF. Interesting shirt Joe has on! lol!
BTW, if you want to post a photo and not do it as an attachment, post the URL of the photo between in your post. Make sure there are no spaces in between the URL and the [img] [/img] brackets.
If these have been uploaded from your computer, you'll have to upload them to a photo hosting serve like Photobucket and use the link of its location there.

Looks like screen caps? do you know where the video is? and looks like Joe went all out for this one and borrowed a shirt from Marjorie for the vid. nice... *sigh*
Re: Walsh Worship: The Joe Walsh Photo Thread
They are screen caps. They would be a lot better if I really knew what I was doing. It's not a video but a CBS morning show about Les Paul that was shown right after he died. Joe's part in it was taped after Les died because he talks about him in the past tense. Loved the fact that he was dressed in something besides black. I think they taped it in his house that holds all of his radio equipment. The fire place looks the same from the pictures that Ticky posted some time back. He has quite a collection of Les Paul's and some of them are worth a small fortune. I think he showed one that was worth around $30,000.00. That would buy a LOT of Eagles concert tickets.
Re: Walsh Worship: The Joe Walsh Photo Thread
AEF,
That "link" to the CBS show pics appears to be "broken". If you can still get to those pics, I'd love to look at the Walsh "Les Paul" collection.
That appearance that Joe made on Celine Dion's (sp??) was not Planned in the way most appearances happen. Celeine just happened to run into Joe the afternoon prior to the show and had the epiphany and asked Joe to accompany her. No time to really do much more than a sound check prior to the performance!
But Joe has made no secret of the fact that he learned to play guitar by listening to the Beatles recordings on radio back in the 60's. And what better inspirations than George Harrison and Eric Clapton?
As for the performance, Celine was wonderful, but Joe's elegant performance stole the stage as far as I'm concerned. He said nothing, did nothing dramatic, but just being there, wringing the hell out of that Fender was enough. He got EVERYTHING out of that song and didn't resort to "Chicken Pickin" to blow us away. He just rung every note and got it all.

Go visit this site if you don't have it bookmarked. Some good pics including the one this comment is about:

Okay! This is what I love with the intenet! I got a mail and a pic.
Hi! my name is Asa. I found your page through thisismike's web site. I really enjoyed the photos and story you have about Joe in the big goofy hat, however, here is the real story behind that hat. That is my hat, and I am the "14 year old boy" actually, I am a 30 year old girl, and Joe is my hero!
Anyway, I snuck past the security guard while he was distracted and began snapping photos when Joe looked down into my camera lense, smiled and pointed at my hat. Ofcourse, I gave it to him! He wore it through the rest of the show. I was lucky enough to get it back as well, and it is safe under a custom made plastic case, right under a signed poster of Joe in my hat. And that's the truth... I am going to have to pick on Shirl for calling me a 14 year old boy! :-) Later, Asa
