Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
27 years ago today, Don won Best Rock Male Vocal Performance at the Grammys for The End of The Innocence. Here's his acceptance speech. I found video of Don performing on the show and winning a Grammy. I'm gonna have to post it when I get home. I can't get it to play on my work computer.

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
I found a video clip from the 1990 Grammys.
Here are some important parts of the clip if you don't want to see the whole thing.
-Don in the audience at 0:34.
-Album of the Year at 12:44. Don wearing glasses.
-Steuart playing with his old boss Rodney Crowell(well he still tours with Rodney when he's not touring with Don) at 18:47.
-Garry Shandling introducing Don at 48:26. Don ditches the glasses and changes clothes. LOL
-Don winning Best Rock Male Performance. Bob and Melissa are the presenters.

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
I was watching the video Inside Out and was about to watch Walkaway Joe when this video popped on the right side with other videos. Its an interview of Trisha talking about working with Don. It looks like its only a month old.

Since today is Elton's 70th Birthday. Here's Don and Elton singing an old Temptation's song called Shakey Ground. I think this is the only song Elton and Don sang together.

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
This video probably has been posted when it happened 10 years ago, but I found a video of Don presenting Album of The Year which went to The Dixie Chicks.
Don giving a shout out to the Dixie Chicks and happy that the Dixie Chicks wins Album of the Year It was soo cute. You don't see Don ever doing that.

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
Don was in Oxford, England today to accept an award from a foundation called Skoll Foundation at their annual Skoll World Forum 2017. Bono is also there and I think is speaking tomorrow.
They talked about Don between 2:13:00 and 2:15:00. I can't get the time right. You even briefly see Bono. I wonder where the heck he was going. LOL
Anyway. The Skoll Foundation have a Youtube account. So I won't be surprised if it pops up on there later.

ETA: I deleted the facebook link and put the Youtube link up. The guy starts talking about Don around 1:48:28.

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
Here is another link from the Skoll Foundation yesterday - Don is singing on stage with Bono, Michael Franti and Jeff Skoll
Start the video at 1:46:00 to see Michael Franti and at 2:20:00 to see Don:

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
Will is in the audience too. I watched Michael Franti and he's not bad. I really enjoyed him even though I don't like his type of music. You can see Don clapping around. It was funny when Michael was telling people to jump. I was like, "Don is not going to jump."
There's the Youtube video. I'm going to download both videos. I thought Don was going to go home yesterday, but I guess he stayed for the rest of the forum.

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
Don and Paul on stage together singing The Boxer last night at the Environmental Leadership Award. Don doing his famous guitar drumming. I miss that.
I didn't know that was the name of that song. I just knew the la la part. Lol

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
Cool! Thanks Shun! I like that song.
There's more of the performance. Here's a link to "Mystery Train" and "Mrs. Robinson."

Henley has no power to remove this because these aren't his songs, right? I know that I've been comically hard on him for this, but I'm being serious right now.

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
YouTube does the will of the big-shot celebrity regardless of whether or not they technically have the right. The burden of proof is on the uploader to prove they have the copyright if they are challenged. These videos are vulnerable to complaint.
They are also cool. Thanks for posting, guys!

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
TY Shun ! I guess we should enjoy them while we can. I have always loved S & G . Saw them in 1981 at Giants Stadium and it was a great concert.
-
Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
NKIT what a great concert, awesome you were there!! 83?
-
Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
Dawn - It was 1981 - the summer after they did the concert in Central Park, which if I remember was Sept. or Oct. 1980. ( I just corrected the date ).
It was a incredible concert. I heard that Art really can't sing anymore since he had throat surgery. I have not heard him sing in many years so I don't know if it's true.

OK, thanks! The reason I asked is I found a setlist for 83 and I would imagine it was pretty close. I love S&G saw them in Sacramento in the 70s. Would have loved to see them in Central Park once-in-a-lifetime concert to be sure. Art had a beautiful voice and his version of BOTW is forever the gold standard in my playbook. I thought I read he had recovered but not sure. Sorry to go OT

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
I know nobody really cares about Don anymore and sometimes I really don't want to post anything to board, but I guess I will.
I found this little trailer about the Very Best of Don Henley CD. This was posed 6 days ago on Youtube.

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
Here's a video from Kenny Rogers' Final concert. Don comes in at 0.30 seconds. Idina Menzel and Charles Kelley of Lady Antebellum sang Bob Seger's We've Got Tonight right after Don.

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
Thanks, Shun! It was great seeing Don and the others honoring Kenny!

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
Thanks for the links, Shun. Although Glenn was my favorite, I still care about Don and appreciate the posts! It was great to see him honoring Kenny, especially knowing their history together.

Shun, I have always liked Don and appreciate your posts. Please don't stop!

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
Thanks Shun. I watched about 5 min. I’ll have to watch the rest later. So far it’s really interesting.

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
I was finally able to watch the entire video. The outdoor footage is really lovely and Don was well-spoken as usual.

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
This video was making rounds on Facebook yesterday. This video was posted by Thomas(I don't know his last name. I know it starts with A)on Jackson's facebook fan group.
The song is called For a Dancer. I listen to the song and it is a great song. I've never seen the video or heard of the song until yesterday. The song was on Jackson's 1974 album, Late For the Sky, but I guess he made a music video 18 years later. I don't know if anybody has heard or seen this video.
Two other special guest makes an appearance with Don and Jackson.

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
Here's country singer, Clint Black talking about how he met Don and the up and coming next week with Don, himself and Lyle Lovett to help raise money for the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
Thanks for sharing that, Shun.
OT -- I have always thought Clint Black favors Roy Rogers to the "T". Does anyone else see the resemblance?
-
Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
I've never thought of that, but he does favor Roy a little. In 1991, Clint did sing a duet with Roy Rogers. I remembered the video, but I haven't watched it in years.
I can't believe the concert is tomorrow. I hope they raise a lot of money.

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
A rarity from Farm Aid 1985–Don performs “A Month of Sundays.” (I did a search and this was posted back in 2008; needless to say that link has expired).

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
My thanks for that Delilah, that's an absolute gem of a find. It's my favourite Don solo song and I never even contemplated that he may have played it live, so I am made up :D
-
Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
I could be wrong, but I think this is the only time Don ever sang this song. Its a beautiful song. Will or Michael would do a great job with this song since this is mostly piano lead.
I have his other two songs from Farm Aid '85. The poor guy was struggling with The Boys Of Summer, but that's another post. lol

You’re welcome. It’s one of my favorite Don solo songs and he sings it with such earnestness and feeling. You can hear the sad resignation in his voice. One of his best vocal performances, IMO.

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
Today's the 28th Anniversary of Don winning Best Rock Vocal, Male at the 32nd Annual Grammy Awards. The only award he won that night. He had some stuff competition.
You can see Don in the audience with Patty Smyth at the beginning when Paul McCartney was giving an award. Album of the Year at 12:43. Gary Shandling introducing Don at 48:26 and then Don sing. The End Of The Innocence. Best Rock Male Performance at 54:03.

Record of the Year at 47:33. Of course Don lost.

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
I don't know if this was every posted, but I found this old video from the Early Show of Billy Joel presented Musicares Person of the Year award back in 2002.
Don is shown briefly at 0:52, again at 2:08(so Don has sung that song before. I didn't know that) and interviewed by Mark McEwen at 3:01.

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
This video from 2006 shows Don doing a great duet with Jerry Lee Lewis. It looks like it was posted here in 2009 but not surprisingly, that video is no longer available.
Here’s “You Win Again”:

Don has worked with some real legends!

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
Loved that post of Henley & Jerry Lee Lewis. I think Henley is getting a bad rap about the Eagles. Even though Glenn has always been my favorite, I don't blame Eagles for going on. If Glenn's wife & son don't find it offensive, I don't see why other people do.

Re: Don videos on YouTube and other video sites
This isn't technically a "Don video" but people are saying he is singing backup on this Stevie Nicks demo. Can we hear him?
