Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
oooh! Lucky girl!!! HFO era is the second hottest time IMHO, only beaten by OOTN era.
I had a dream with Don in it last night too - but sadly, it's not hot at all.
In my dream, I'm at a square dancing contest and doing quite well. The song "Walkaway Joe" is playing and I'm thinking of Don when poof, he's right there over my shoulder, watching the square dancing (current era)! Then he starts doing the calling! I proudly promenade and do-se-do, hoping he notices what an awesome square dancer I am. After it's over, I get told that I've won the opportunity to square dance a final round to the song "All She Wants to Do Is Dance"! Sadly, I don't get to square dance WITH Don, as he just stands to the side and sings. In my dream, I don't even find it odd to square dance to a rock song, lol.
I think there's more, but that's all I remember!

Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
See, this totally won't convey the actual hotness of it, but I'll tell you bits of what I can remember about the premise... My friend, Jackie, and I were going to be staying in a tiny caravan (in an urban area) for a few days. I have no idea why. We were in this kind of waiting room/bus station area with a lot of other people, late at night. Don was there, wearing a white henley and dark jeans, and a long dark coat. (You know the HFO pic of the guys in a field where Don's looking down? Exactly that.) So he and I kept stealing glances and I knew in my dream that we were seeing each other, but that it was somehow forbidden. I got the sense that I was too young and that people wouldn't approve of him - least of all my friend Jackie. Don was kind of like the dangerous handsome stranger in town. Anyway, the tension was tangible and all we wanted to do was be with each other alone. It became evident that there were some problems with getting us into the caravan, so Jackie huffed and went off to get things sorted. I looked at Don and then went outside to pretend to use the payphone. He took the hint and followed me, and within a minute he was standing close behind me at the payphone on a cold, wet, dark, deserted street... Um... stuff ensued... and a short while later I heard Jackie calling me. So I went back into the bus station place and said I'd been calling my mum. She had the papers for the caravan and we went there. It was just across the road, in a row of parked white caravans. We literally had to climb in through this stupid little hatch to the bedroom (which we were going to share). I remember the faint hope of sneaking Don in fading FAST! The place was tiny and Jackie was going to be within three inches of me for the next few days. I was kind of miserable but then as I was getting ready for bed, I looked out of the window and saw Don just standing there in the dark street in his long coat. I laid down, wishing I could be with him, but buzzing with the memories of everything that had just happened.
I'm afraid you'll just have to use your imaginations as to what occurred earlier. ;)
And Nancy... If it had have been OOTN Don, I'm not sure I could have handled the hotness! Although HFO Don was pretty darn sexy... You always have the coolest, quirkiest little dreams.

Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
I get the idea, Troub. mmm very sexy! Downright cinematic!
-
Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
It's funny you should mention the word 'cinematic' because that's exactly how it felt - the whole dark, wet street setting and the odd congregation of all these people in the bus station late at night made it feel like a sort of Philip K. Dick dystopia! Not that I have watched or read anything like that lately... Odd. But very sexy!

Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
Lucky you, Troub!! :woah:
Hmm, wonder how many nights you're gonna spend hoping for a replay of/sequel to THAT dream...
:inlove:

Oh, this has taken me back in time. We learnt square dancing in school when I was 11...
I can't help but think there's some kind of hidden meaning in all your dreams, Soda, but I have no idea what it might be!! :hilarious:

Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
Well Troub--I had to splash my face with cold water just imagining that dream!! LOL

Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
I had a strange dream last night featuring an Eagle, not the one you all would think I'd dream about either.
Don & I were shopping in a supermarket and talking about Rupert Murdock. :hilarious: Don't really remember what we were saying but I remember Don saying something to the effect that he actually felt sorry for him and was sorry he ever said some of the things he's said about him now that he's in so much trouble. This whole conversation was taking place as we were in the meat department picking out a roast for dinner. :hilarious: I had a big one in my hand and he asked who else was coming for dinner and I said no one. He asked why I was picking out such a large one if it was only the 2 of us. And he wiggled his eyebrows at me. :hilarious: I shrugged and put it back and picked up a smaller one and asked him what else he wanted with it. Said he'd make some of his special potatoes (whatever those are). So I told him we'd better go pick up more because wasn't sure how many we had in the pantry. As we headed for the produce department, I remember we stopped periodically to pick up other stuff (don't remember what) and put them in our cart, all the while talking about Rupert Murdock.
That's really all I remember. He was current Don complete with the gray hair and the gray beard. In a gray button down shirt, jeans and his work boots.
I apologize to all you Don fans....I will try to stick to Timothy dreams from here on in. Somehow, I doubt I'd be picking out a roast with Timothy tho. :hilarious:
-
Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
No need to apologise Willie - that's cool.........just so long as you're feeding him well! :hilarious:
-
Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
Ha, I love it! I like the sound of his special potatoes...
-
Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
I love cute dreams like that. No need to apologize! Although perhaps you would have preferred to pick out a rump roast with Tim, eh? ;)
-
Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
-
Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
Too funny Willie! I can't imagine Don feeling sorry for Rupert Murdock though! :hilarious:
-
Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
Seriously! From the way Don's harped on Murdoch for years, you'd think he was single-handedly responsible for the state of the media today. I bet Don is practically dancing with glee at Murdoch's humiliation.
-
Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
Wllie, that was a very cute dream!
As far as Don feeling sorry for Rupert Murdock - l'd bet he probably doesn't feel too sorry for him - however, I'm not sure that he would be jumping for joy either. Even if he strongly dislikes Rupert, he still may not wish him any ill will. Of course, we don't have the privilege of getting inside Don's mind, so who knows what he's thinking.

Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
Great dream, Willie, and about 2 of my favourite things - Don and food!! :partytime:
And it would be a fascinating conversation about RM, too.

Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
Dang, Lou, that dream was just...Wow!!! I don't care if it was just a dream I can't help but say "You lucky girl!!"
Willie, I think I'm a little jealous of your dream too. Having dinner with Don? Just the two of you? Lucky!!
I've been meaning to post about a dream I had but I kept forgetting to do that. I had this dream a few months ago so I may have forgotten a few things.
I don't remember exactly how this all came about but I do remember that Lou and I were at an Eagles concert. This wasn't the typical place for an Eagles concert. The venue looked to be like a huge plain room with a stage. The floor was tiled and the walls were a light tan color and were completely bare. The stage was about 3 feet off the ground and was painted black. There was a huge maroon velvet curtain that was not yet ready to open up. A set of stairs was on both sides of the stage and there were exit doors about 10 feet from the stairs. It was going to be a very intimate concert because it seemed that there were only enough chairs for an audience of about 500. I remember thinking how lucky we were to be at this concert. People slowly started trickling into the venue as Lou and I took our seats. We were fifth row center. Four wooden stools and four mics were set up on stage. Shortly after we got into our seats the curtains opened and the guys walked out smiling and waving to the audience. There were no drums, no pianos, no horn section, just the guys and their acoustic guitars. At the time it seemed completely normal to see them performing this way. I wish I could remember what songs they played but unfortunately I don't. During the intermission the guys left the stage and for reasons I still can't understand I left the building. I had to run across the street to take care of some business. I have no idea what kind of business it was but I remember standing in the elevator waiting to go up to the 25th floor and thinking "They better make this deal quick and sign the papers because I DO NOT want to miss the second half of the concert." Next thing I know I'm back at the concert and it had already started. I don't think I missed much, maybe a song or two, but I'm very irritated for missing even a moment of it until I see that Lou is in the second row on the very end on Timothy's side. I don't know how she got us moved to the second row but I'm not irritated anymore because we're even closer than we were and Timothy is right in front of us. Once again, I don't remember any of the songs they sang. The last song was over and the guys stood up from the stools and took their bow. Instead of waving to the audience and leaving the stage they sat back down and started to take questions from the audience. I don't remember any of the questions but I do remember that each of the guys were very polite and sometimes funny with their answers. After the q&a was over Joe, Timothy, and Don started to walk to down the steps from the stage to greet the audience. By this time Lou and I had scooted into the now empty seats in front of us in the front row. Joe, Tim, and Don started at the far right and were making their way down the line shaking hands and saying hi to everybody. Lou and I were both shaking with excitement. We couldn't believe that we were actually going to meet them. While Joe, Tim, and Don were on the floor greeting the audience Glenn stayed sitting on his stool on the stage. I looked up at him and he happened to look my way and smiled. I thought about walking towards him to ask why he wasn't greeting us with the other guys but it was like he was reading my mind and he said "I'm so sorry. I want to come down there and meet you all but I can't." There was no explanation of why he couldn't but i just understood that he couldn't do it so i just nodded my head and smiled back at him. By this time Don was getting closer to me and Lou. Joe and Tim had stopped moving down the line and were in deep conversation with some fans but Don kept moving our way, shaking hands and saying hello to everybody as he walked slowly towards us. Finally he was right in front of us. Lou was first. He shook her hand and they chatted like old friends while I was desperately searching my brain for anything to say him. Until this moment I felt I was prepared to meet my idol but now that he was right here next to me I couldn't think of anything. Lou was so calm as she talked with Don. I wondered how she was able to keep her composure. After their short conversation, Don hugged Lou and then turned to me. Once he took my hand all my nervousness was gone and I felt incredibly calm and relaxed. I don't remember what we talked about but when we finished chatting he gave me a big hug. Usually a hug doesn't last very long at all but he held on with his hug and I remember thinking "Well, if he isn't gonna let go then I'm not gonna let go either." We were still embraced in that hug when I woke up. **Sigh**

Awww - I loved that, Jess! How frickin' cool! I wish I could be that slippery in real life and just slide myself gradually into the second row, then the first...

Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
Somehow Willie, I think if you were having dinner with Don, you wouldnt be alone for long. I can think of a few people here who might just "pop in" to say hi *G* get the bigger roast...

Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
You are all awful. :thumbsup::thumbsup:
Soda, I can't stop looking at your avatar!

Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
Thanks Judy! Gotta love gorgeous HFO Don passionately throwing himself into his singing!

Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
The part about Glenn is the sort of thing that happens in my dreams. You can't get close.
-
Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
OMG - I so enjoy reading about all of your dreams and am just a little bit :jealous: because I never dream these things (or at least, I can't remember them). I'm gonna have to start making some up - you know ... they call it daydreaming.

Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
I had since a long time a short Eagles dream.
I was in Hamburg for the Take That concert. As the Pet Shop Boys had finished, Neil Tennant said that Take That, unfortunately, can‘t appear, but one have found an alternative: THE EAGLES! They were accidental in Hamburg and they had agreed to play a show. After the announcement the most of the audience left the Stadium,:yuck: the others went closer to the stage, I stood quite close at it.:) Then the Eagles appeared on stage, They played a lot Eagles songs and still 2-3 solo songs from each member, very cool!
Then came Desperado and Don said "normally I sing this song alone but this time a person is in the audience they also like to hear s this song from Glenn, Now come on stage, Desire, this song is just for you!" It sounds wonderful! Then I woke up!
-
Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
Now that's what I call a dream! ;)
-
Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
A dream concert!! I love it. If I could, I'd have one of those every night -- with or without the dedication! Fabulous.
-
Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
Hearing Glenn sing Desperado in person is a huge fantasy of mine!

Hopefully it won't be a fantasy for much longer. To date he always closes his solo shows with it. I saw him do part of it in 1988 but he shared the vocals with the LRB singers. This time he will be on his own. :nahnah:

That's what I'm hoping! We came close to hearing it in Aspen.

Re: Dreaming of the Eagles
I had a bit of a strange one last night.......
I was with 2 'friends' (but I don't know who they were) and Joe arrived with a really shabby holdall, I got the impression he had nowhere to live but this wasn't mentioned - it was like we all knew and accepted the fact.
He had hold of a photocopy of an old boxed cd set of 4 that was by various people like Strauss, Mahler, Beethoven etc. and he was raving about it, saying how fantastic the music was and he had to get a copy but couldn't find it anywhere, I said I've got that one at home - in fact for some reason I've got 2 copies, I must have bought one and got the other as a gift from someone, so I said to him if you give me a lift home you can have it, he was only to pleased to do this - it was all very casual and I had the feeling we were old friends........anyway by this time the other 2 'friends' had disappeared so Joe drove us to my house, I knew my brother would be there, so as I opened the front door I called "are you in Colin?, i've brought a friend with me" he replied "I'm in here" this is where it gets really weird....
Joe walked on ahead into the lounge where Colin was playing his guitar (along with his friend - Rolf Harris!!!! :hilarious: :hilarious: :hilarious:) went up to him, shook his hand and said "Colin, how ya doin? Hey, you must show me how to play that!"
I went to make a drink for everybody and shouted back "Hey Rolf, will you get that classical CD off the shelf for Joe please.....
....and that's where it ended
I honestly don't know how or why Rolf Harris was in my dream! :hmm: :shrug::machinegun::hilarious:

Was he playing his wobble board?
Oh, and according to the Wikipedia entry: "The largest privately owned collection of wobble boards outside of Australia is owned and curated by ex-Beatle Ringo Starr." :hilarious:
